Hey I'm making 256x Vista Icons for the Elder Scrolls Games if anyone wants them? Not remakes, just Nearest Neighbor Re sizes.

Hnnnnng the lighting and shadows. I think that those two elements done well really make a game pop.
I do hope the Birthsign stones are revised. some of them were ridicious, and OP, like the Ritual.
Plus, for PC anyway, I'm sure people will ocme along and do texture mods for it that improve it.
Which is a contributing factor to my argument, textures are a non issue any way you look at it. Not too much improvement from console? Then wait for Quarl to go bonkers with this.
I would hate to rain on everyone's parade regarding, "PC will have better graphics!" Fuck you consoles. Fuck you.
WHO CARES anyone with a brain would have figured this out the moment the game was announced, the textures being a bit muddy is NOT A BIG DEAL especially since there's always texture replacers for these games
What we want at the end of the day is that the game looks the same.
Translates to
We don't want to upscale and work more on the PC version, that's what our modding community is for!
So big deal, the game looks stunning anyway and most still screens look boring. When you watch the videos is when you really see the beauty.
anyone with a brain would have figured this out the moment the game was announced, the textures being a bit muddy is NOT A BIG DEAL
Though, this is likely due in part to the texture filtering settings. In the close-up shots you can see quite a bit of detail in the textures.. it just tends to blur a bit at a distance.
We don't want to upscale and work more on the PC version, that's what our modding community is for!
Actually it wouldn't really be upscaling. Normally you'd start out with a 1024/2048 texture, and then just resize it to be smaller for the xbox if need be. Frankly Im not sure why they aren't just doing that... It may be that they dont want to keep track of two full sets of textures. That, and while it may be of the same difficulty to work on a 512 texture as it would be a 1024 texture, it can be a bit harder to work on large-scale UV maps to texture models... and at that point, they might not be able to retain consistency between terrain surface and model textures, and then there'd be a noticable discrepancy in scenery... big blurry building and tree models but sharp ground textures. That just might be the rational they might be using, not exactly what I'd agree with. Its always smarter to start with big textures and scale downwards from there. I guess they are just ignorant or lazy v:v:v
If anyone is disappointed with an Elder Scrolls game for not being bleeding edge they just. don't. get it.
I just want to hunt deer with a bow for the first 5 hours I play to get my skills up to par.
I just want to hunt deer with a bow for the first 5 hours I play to get my skills up to par.
I want to hunt a bow with a Deer. I'll be an idiot hunter, I'll go up to Trappers and the conversation will be like this: Me: "Where Bear?" Him: "Werebear?!" Me: *nod* "Where Bear!" Him: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH" *runs off screaming*
Oh wow, you pretty much just won the game of "guess hypno toads specs" Guess I'll be playing with AA off :v:
Where's the tessellation? WHERES THE DX11 RENDERING?!
I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these as my next (discrete) tattoo. Too nerdy? I doubt the average Joe would really recognize them... Agrees/disagrees?
The ground texture still bugs me. It's still the same as in gamebyro, that's like a punch in the stomach for me. Gamebyro is just so god damn ugly, god. And I don't mean the whole creation engine, just the ground texture. On this picture mainly. The leaves remind me too much of fallout 3. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Wkm2I.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
What the heck does the engine have to do with the content, at all? I'm still kinda worried how the contrast is high in the recent screenshots, I just hope it's only the 360 version like every other game.
If anyone is disappointed with an Elder Scrolls game for being ugly then they just. don't. get it. Which makes the last page of comments even stranger because the NPCs are smokin' hot, Skyrim's art & design is obviously visually strong. Just because it's not making you cry tears of blood doesn't mean it's going to disappoint. This is the game franchise that makes you read fluff mythology in front of your computer screen, ffs, not some one-off factory rpg that sells copies just because it looks good.
Pretty much Im getting sort of tired of "MORE REAL THAN REAL LIFE" graphics-style games with ultra DoF and excessive motion blur and bloom that could melt your face. Sometimes I just get sort of tired of looking at shit that is way overly detailed.. plus it always seems to come at the expense of framerate and general playability, and to be honest I'd rather just have games that look "pretty good" and play well. Its getting to the point now where we aren't that far from photo-realsitic real-time rendering, and its getting sort of stupid seeing devlopers literally destroy their game just to squeeze out just the tiniest little bit of extra graphical detail so they can make vain attempts to compete with games that aren't even in the same genre as them. Skyrim has a good artistic direction and a nice aesthetic appearance. The world is very grand and realized, the world is huge is volume and detail, the people look real, yet still sort of something that has classic concept-art appearance to them.. and to top it off the game is well capable of competing with or surpasing most titles today. Just because the game isnt "ubercrysis2" in visual qaulity, its not going to inhibit me from enjoying it to the fullest extent, and it shouldnt for anybody else either.
So sick of people bitching and talking shit about graphics, what ever happened to gameplay? Sure some nice graphics are appealing but the gameplay is what is suppose to be accounted for. Do people really buy a game for its graphics and keep playing it because it has nice graphics?
I hope iron rust and aluminium powder are available for alchemy...
Hahah, yes, I too would like to apply thermite to my arrows, but finding an ignition source might be a bit difficult in the era.
Hahah, yes, I too would like to apply thermite to my arrows, but finding an ignition source might be a bit difficult in the era.
Need I remind you that magics?
Need I remind you that magics?
Pffft, real men don't rely on shooting fire out of their fingertips. They hide in the darkness and poison people with their arrows! EDIT: Okay I might have that backwards.
WHO CARES anyone with a brain would have figured this out the moment the game was announced, the textures being a bit muddy is NOT A BIG DEAL especially since there's always texture replacers for these games
This. While everyone else is complaining about graphics and stupid shit like that, I and many other SANE people are going to be ENJOYING the new Elder Scrolls game. Seriously people, just have fucking fun with this, it looks incredible enough already are you really going to let that get in your way of playing the game and actually enjoying it for what it is? also this is what mods are for.
aww look at those crappy leaf textures game's gonna suck!
Is morrowind worth downloading? I absolutely loved Oblivion but I have played it way too much, completed every quest and explored everything there is to explore. Never played morrowind though, is it any good with decent visual mods?
Personally Morrowind is easily the best TES game. Problem is you tend to form that opinion playiing it before you play Oblivion. People who played Oblivion first tend to not be able to get into Morrowind. Morrowind did just about everything better than Oblivion, except the actual gameplay mechanics behind a lot of things. Such as, combat is much less fluid (though it is more true to your characters stats, as you'll misfire spells and stuff if you aren't skilled), NPC's stay in the same spot and only wander around their designated zone, there isn't a real introduction to the game except a small tutorial house at the beginning, the low-level walkspeed is terribly slow (and you lose stamina by running), etc. However the world and atmosphere is oh-so-much better, theres tons of depth behind different locales and the lore of Morrowind, many many more armors, weapons, weapon types, items, etc. Many more factions, and the way you progress through factions is much more non-linear and natural than Oblivion's "linear questing" style factions, etc. There are mods that fix a lot of the gameplay quirks (like default low-level run speed, etc) but the game still starts out slow (being thrown into a fishing village with nothing more than a note to send to someone, and even after that the MQ takes about 5 or so hours to really start up), and the combat still is balanced around you missing half your hits. Back in the day I didn't mind this at all, but if you've played Oblivion it'll feel really off and confusing.

The real problem was the terrible shaders, shadows and animations which would have made a game with even the most stimulating aesthetic fall flat.
i don't know why everyone cares so much about the graphics even if the textures are console quality it's all about the animations for me and those look amazing

Most of the quests in oblivion are better too, particularly the guild quests where most of the time you don't feel like you've been sent on a generic 'go here and kill this person' quest, unlike morrowind.
back in my day our videogame characters looked like sticks with coloured rocks attached to them you ungrateful young hooligans!
i still like golden eye on the nintendo 64 just because it's animations when you shoot people are amazing lol even though the rest of the game looks bad
I've been running on hand-me-down GPU's from my brothers for 4 years now. 3 of those years were on a Radeon X1950 pro, half a year on a 8800GTS (then back to the radeon when it burned out), and another half on my current card- a GeForce GTS 250. I always get pissed off when people complain about game graphics. Can we talk about the game now, please?
So I've decided that I'm going to be a Nordic Necromancer Battlemage Warrior thing as my first character. Don't know exactly how I'm going to pull it off but I hope it works out well...
first thing I'm going to do is flamethrower people while hitting them with lightning since I've wnted to do that ever since I played bioshock
