Skill points don't determine anything realistically, it's about believability. When you see your sword hit a guy and nothing happens because an invisible dice rolled too low it breaks the believability. Skill can determine how well you block or parry, critical hits, how much stamina you use. It doesn't have to be a number which does nothing but determine your +/- on a dice roll.

Well that sort of applies to morrowind too. I played first as a breton mage because I wanted to jump across the map and shit like that. The combat is relatively challenging but also very unbalanced.. levitation and "jump spells" are pretty much a necessity to escape the superfluous number of axe-wielding maniacs in the game that can kill you in a single hit.
I played through again as a nord warrior, I picked up the biggest axe I could find and the game was easy as shit, you bash people and they die... with a mage (or likewise somebody using anything but a giant sword, warhammer or axe) you have to dick around with shortswords or fluster yourself with the clumsy magic system... if you're a warrior you just pick up a giant death-stick and go around beaning people... it is in the most literal sense "whose sword is the biggest"
There's nothing wrong with dice based combat, but that's not the only problem morrowind's combat suffers from. Though that's not to say Oblivion combat isn't pure shite either. I think the best we can hope for with skyrim is just that they [I]un-fuck[/I] the combat.. can work on improving it later :v:

Well actually, both are games, and both share being big titles coming out this year, in a close period of time. Considering not everyone can buy both, He'd have to decide to either buy Skyrim or Battlefield.
He has chosen Skyrim.
Buying this on steam and not intkeys because I'm a traditional fellow. Actually fuck it I'm getting it at Gamestop, I want a physical copy.
I wanted a physical copy but I'm [I]pow[/I]. Hopefully intkeys copies aren't region-locked
The way I see it, they'll be coming out with a goty.. and I'll be buying that, so Im essentially going to be buying the game twice, and that may include the individual dlcs... so I may just be sinking like $100 into skyrim over the next few years... may as well get my first copy for $30
