He re-mentioned the story system so I'm assuming that's still in there.
If we didn't see it, and people didn't see it while playing, it's probably just subtle; I didn't expect essential characters to not be invulnerable, really. Depending on the scripting capabilities and design of the new mod tools, changing essentials to be like Morrowind may be literally a five minute job - also depending on the documentation they release with it, whether or not it's easy to ascertain how to do it. If it's the same as the old one, it'll mean adding a script to every essential character and modifying their existing ones if they have them, which will mean MASSIVE incompatibility issues. Would probably make more sense at that point to just unmark all essential characters.

They always put random characters in Soul Calibur, do you not remember Spawn, Kratos and Vader/Star killer?
also GTTV has the most schizophrenic way of presenting content I've ever seen, they managed to spread out a 5 minute interview and 2 minutes of new footage over 20 minutes
it's probably so that if they spread out the content people actually want to see then people are more likely to stay for the other content which is more often than not absolutely shite

Also at the tail end of the video you can see a spell auto aim a bit (I think anyway, it looks like it, or maybe it hits the animal and then the ragdoll falls to the left and the particle effect still remains). People will probably cry about this but honestly considering the amount of times you missed due to the twitchy AI in Oblivion it's a welcome feature.
