Redguard came after Daggerfall, was thrid person, and was the first full 3D Elder Scrolls game.
I'm pretty sure thats considered a spin-off. Not a main series game, but reminds me. How was it? I been wanting to try it.
Um, Dagger-Fall was First-Person Only.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the two games before Skyrim A.K.A. Oblivion and Morrowind

"One before that was third-person only"
Oh I've seen this debate covered back when third-person elements were introduced to DXHR. Funny how people assume something like that is going to totally kill the immersion.
heh yeah, the takedowns in DXHR actually improved the immersion for me because you keep seeing your character instead of just his hands

There are no "spin-offs" per se, everything in The Elder Scrolls series is canon.
(besides the redacted parts of the lore that had to be changed for other parts to make sense)
But yes, it's not a numbered game, if that's what you mean. It's "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard" and it came between Daggerfall and Morrowind.
Also, yes. It is good. Great even.

But immersion means you feel like them and a person in the world, not deattached and simply playing them.

Sounds Ace, how was the gameplay? I heard it more action oriented.

It was, in fact it is considered and Action Adventure game rather than an RPG. I highly recommend trying it.

:v: By the time Skyrim comes out I'd have OD'd on Elder-Scrolls, Dagger-Fall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Redguard. (Maybe Arena). :suicide:
You could turn off cinematic finishers in New Vegas and this will be on pretty much the same engine, so it'll either be an option or a console command.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought Skyrim is being made on a totally new engine?
good god the world outside of cyrodill is so... mysterious
do you see that sea monster at the top
good god imagine fighting that on a boat or something
holy shit yokuda is p. interesting. NOW is see how fun a mod that added the entire continent of Tamriel and around it would be so fucking cool
It looks quite similar to Europe, actually. Parts of it at least.
I really don't mind the 3rd person finishers, at least not anymore. I got used to them in Fallout NV
But immersion means you feel like them and a person in the world, not deattached and simply playing them.
There are two different kinds of immersion. In DX you play as a specific character. In that case you should be immersed and feel like that character and play his role.
In open end games like most RPGs you play as someone you shape and create yourself, thus you should feel like that character is you, not you being that character.
Hopefully that's not too confusing.
Anyone else not shaving till skyrim?
Anyone else not shaving till skyrim?
Till skyrim? I'm not shaving after skyrim. Since I won't go outside so there's no point in shaving anyway.

Um, You missed my point. I said you should feel like the character or someone in the world. Not being deattached and being like "oh yeah that's jensen that was cool".
So I guess we agree, I just badly worded my post, sorry for confusion.

Nah, you are right, just in that particular example. As I said, different genres have different kinds of immersion. So comparing skyrim immersion to dxhr is not really right seeing as they are different.
I am not saying anything against you, please don't misunderstand.
How come Skyrim is cheaper at most retailers when you buy it on PC?

I suppose so. No big deal, don't worry.

Awesome, I might not have to buy it for Christmas because of this! Thanks dude.
One question about this though, can you activate it on steam?
How come Skyrim is cheaper at most retailers when you buy it on PC?
I'd think PC would be cheaper to produce because they wouldn't have to pay off microsoft or sony to use their console. So the extra $10 or however more that is placed would cover that cost.
How come Skyrim is cheaper at most retailers when you buy it on PC?
Most PC games are cheaper on CD. And they are usually cheaper than on consoles. Not sure if MW3 will cost the same.
The reason it's cheaper than digital is because they need to compete somehow. There's a reason why steam games are more expensive, because most retailers ask the game owners to set higher digital prices or they wont sell their game in the store.
It's cheaper than console because you need to pay licensing fees to publish on consoles.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks.
Damn I need those specs. I'm stuck with this 2.6GHz 4GB Ram laptop with a GeForce 240M graphics card till early December which means a month with Skyrim before I get a more powerful computer
pretty much on the fence right now about whether this laptop is going to cut it, it's done alright with Oblivion + HD textures and fallout 3 in the past...
[editline]19:30[/editline]
I guess I could crank up the graphics and turn down the view distance, I'm short sighted anyway so it wouldn't be much of a difference :v:
I'm still not sure what kind of character I want to play. There's so many options.

2.6Ghz of what? What CPU?
If it runs oblivion with hd textures, you probably could play skyrim if it is well optimized and has good graphics settings options.

back when I played oblivion I only ever played Redguard or Nord because all the other races to me looked like freaks
With Skyrim even the orcs look like fucking badasses, SO HARD TO CHOOSE NOW

I feel the same way about my current rig. I'm sitting on a q6600 stock and a gtx260. I'm waiting for the official system requirements before I decide whether I'll pick it up for pc or xbox..

You'll be fine unless this is a shitty port on the levels of GTA 4.
How come Skyrim is cheaper at most retailers when you buy it on PC?
because that's what it's like with every single game ever released ever
the business model is generally sell the consoles at a loss then make the money back with the money added onto the price of the game which goes straight back to them

unless it's unoptimised to the point that you'd be better off running the 360 version in an emulator you built yourself out of twigs and blu tac then you'll be fine, the recommended specs are probably gonna be something around an 8800gt and dual core 2GHz
