Hopefully, Skyrim makes up for the $20 wasted on Morrowind.
You're fucking kidding me, right?
You're fucking kidding me, right?
I don't like Morriwind either. I want to like it but I can't.
Yoo this isn't Skyrim related but TES nonetheless, I'm doing the Shivering Isles on one of my saves and I have no idea what quest I'm on. I've killed the gatekeeper, I know that, but I don't have a 'Blessing' greater power for either of the sides. I talk to Sheogorath/Haskill but they have no dialogue for me except to only tell me that they've given me a task to do. Sidequests are still available to complete and their characters have full dialogue options. What is going on and how do I fix it? I'm not on PC also.
Yeah, Skyrim is also way better than the Lord Of the Rings movies.
why didn't they just ride the big birds to Mordor instead of spending 3 movies walking there
There is a poster of it. When I owned Morrowind on the original Xbox, it came with that map. I used to have it hanging up above my computer.
What?! My original copy never came with a map! I've had the game for 8 years, and never knew that. :smith:
There is also this one for Morrowind, it would make a great large poster. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/4Ujz8.jpg[/thumb]
My copy of Morrowind actually came with that as a poster. I don't think you can get them anymore though. Just like how Oblivion comes with a poster map (except the morrowind one was much cooler).
I don't like Morriwind either. I want to like it but I can't.
You'll be called stupid and lame but the fact of the matter is it's very difficult for someone who didn't play it on release to get into it and see why so many people enjoy it so much. Morrowind has such a nostalgia factor attached to it. This is assuming of course that you didn't play it when it was released.
ON TOPIC! Does anyone feel that dragons might become like the next cliff racers or oblivion gates? They're fucking everywhere!
I think I read in some scans that the developers set the number of most dragons at a time to 2 because the playtesters encountered 3 and went "OP nerf plz"

Is Morrowind really that black or is it just the map?
I believe they've stated that your movement speed will be affected by things like the weight of your armour as well as possibly perks and how many times you invest in Stamina upon levelling
I dont think they said anything about perks. The armor you're wearing should change your speed, but still, there needs to be a way for the player to define their own speed. Some people are just going to run faster than others, if that weren't the case then the Olympics would always come out in a draw. They did the consistent player speed thing with Fallout 3, it it was annoying as fuck, especially when people are running from you and you specialize in melee weapons. Sometimes I just want to make a character who beats other people with their supreme running speed, just like sometimes I want to make a character who beats people with their superior strength, or superior magic skills, etc. Doesn't *need* that to be an RPG, but it still makes it a better game IMO, the more ways to customize your play-style and your character's strong-suits, the better. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
Is Morrowind really that black or is it just the map?
The mid section of the map is volcanic ashlands. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline]
Yup, I first tried to play it in 2010.
I first played it in 2010 also, incidentally I have about 400 hours on it and I think it's one of the best games ever made. Doesn't matter what year you play it in, its just a well made game.
I played Daggerfall and skipped over Morrowind. :saddowns:
Speaking of which I just started playing, I got a quest to smuggle some substance (Can't remember, sounded like spurum) and ate it accidentally while looking at a note that was dropped in my backpack. Now I'm poisoned and contracted Witch's pox :v: where can I find a healer?
Todd Howard: "So we wanted to focus the story on a lonely Argonian maid. In her quest she finds herself to be quite lustful. We focused the gameplay on picking up strangers and sort of, do what you want to them."
Are you saying this is a bad idea for a game?
Skyrim is still definitely an RPG, no doubt about that. Even if there were no skills and such, with TES's level of interaction you could still stick to a specific role and play as that exclusively successfully. Still though, I like to customize my characters abilities to suit the style of role Im going to play, rather than him just be "ok at everything" . I think Skyrim has toned that down too much. Doesnt really change it's status as an RPG, but shaping your character's general abilities (strength, intelligence, speed, etc) helps you to work into the role you want to play. For me its going to be kind of immersion breaking when Im a thief, and all the guards run at the same speed as me when Im trying to escape despite the fact that thieves prefer flight over fight.. being that they are thieves and not convicts.
Being good at just a few things increases the replay value. For instance, I played F:NV as a stealthy sniper addict up until level 20 until I got bored, and there was still fresh gameplay to enjoy when my next character was designed like Rambo.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/118/1182286p1.html?_cmpid=ign18 Four dragons that won't be in Skyrim.
I want a whole damn series based around Gun Dragon.
Is Morrowind really that black or is it just the map?
Yeah, a big section of the map is black and grey ashlands, which is what i didn't really like about morrowind.
I agree, thats the way I prefer it. Many people think that its just artificial, but if enough detail and subtleties are put into each "general playstyle" then there's no reason to have to experience everything with one character.
How long is Oblivion, including side quests? Steam tells me I've been playing for 11 hours and I've just retrieved the Mysterium Xarxes or whatever the hell it is. Also, the house in Chorrol with the "for sale" sign, can I buy that? How?

okay I might just sleep in the fighters guild and sell all of my shit instead of keeping it I liked having a player home from the start in Fallout 3, you could have your weapons on shelves and it looked all neat
I didn't really like the player homes. I found it much more fun to go find a random area in the wastes and claim it as your own. Hell I made a character that basically lived in the D.C. Sewers in F3.
so did I but I'm not quite as familiar with Oblivion as I am with the newer Fallout games is it safe to just squat in somebodies house and put stuff on shelves, and inside containers?
No. But there are plenty of stops you can find a place to camp at or take for your own. I lived in a cave for one of my characters, though if I remember, I had to clean it out cause monsters respawn.
so did I but I'm not quite as familiar with Oblivion as I am with the newer Fallout games is it safe to just squat in somebodies house and put stuff on shelves, and inside containers?
I believe most chests reset after a day or so
okay I might just sleep in the fighters guild and sell all of my shit instead of keeping it I liked having a player home from the start in Fallout 3, you could have your weapons on shelves and it looked all neat
If you want a house then the best thing to do is buy the one on the waterfront. It only costs 2000 gold base price (Literally 10 times cheaper than the mansions you can buy) and it works pretty well as a place to store your stuff. Best money making scheme is the Arena, I used that to fund my housing needs. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
How long is Oblivion, including side quests? How?
Theres at least 10 sidequests for each minor town, and around 10 or so quests for each guild. The Imperial city has a load as well. One piece of advice is to explore what you might think the pointless area's are. Once I was walking around one of the not so intriguing districts in the IC and I got this Vampire Hunting quest.
At the risk of sounding like the dumbest person ever, how and where do you sell stuff in Oblivion? I have too much crap I looted from the beginning of the game clogging up my inventory. Also, all of those things labeled "ingredients", are they ever actually used anywhere? I have a lot of those, too.
