Oblivion is driving me crazy!

My view distance and shadow options are constantly resetting themselves to minimun! How can I prevent this? I can run it maxed out with ease, but my view distance is adjusting itself constantly and it's fucking annoying!

Especially when you see someone you're trying to assassinate and then suddenly the target disappears, because Oblivion decided "Nope, I'll just tweak this view distance a bit before you shoot".

Anyone know how to fix this shit?

That happened to me on my old laptop. I think it was Oblivion's way of saying "nope, you're hardware's not good enough, let me make things less stressful".

You don't happen to have Streamline or any other OBSE plug-ins installed, right? Some OBSE plug-ins change settings 'on the fly" in a really shitty manner.
