either as they both are activated through steam. So if you can get retail have at it and get a map.

Also; Currently growing a beard in preparation for release day (And a head start for no-shave-november.) I hate being blonde, though. I have a sever genetic disadvantage when it comes to facial hair.

No point of getting it on steam if you miss out on free swag (unless you buy it with TF2 items).

if you're having doubts, i'd say fuck it and go with steam as you're able to play it instantly as it's available... I think
I don't have much experience with steam preorders, does anyone know if preloading the game is the norm?

Steam gets it to you the fastest, although not necessarily for a good price.
Amazon will reliably ship you a copy and provides assurance that you are getting a good price. They will automatically charge you the lowest price that shows up in any of their shops between the time you preorder and the time they charge you. Release date delivery being free and reliable is also very handy.
Gamestop is run by assholes and supporting them is generally not a favorable action.
Oh hell, the PC Collectors edition Box art is so fucking sweet.

Well, I'd say amazon because my Connection would make me wait another day or two before I'd get it through steam. I heard only bad things about gamestop.

How big is the map in Skyrim?
Like, big enough that I won't cross the whole thing from one side to the other in less then 15 minutes, and 30 minutes to explore the whole map?
Never played a Elder Scrolls game before and I don't want to end up in a map that takes so little time to travel across.

The review I read said it's as big as Oblivion/Cyrodiil but due to the mountains you can climb and expanded dungeons, it takes longer to explore everything.

Think they said like half an hour to walk from one end to another... though you usually have to goat-path it through mountains and river channels and whatnot.
Guess that'd mean it'd take 15 hours to [I]see [/I](aka: pass by) everything on the surface world, and thats not including towns or dungeons. The chances are you're not going to be exploring the world on a perfect grid pattern basis, so it'll likely take you a lot longer than 15 hours to explore all of skyrim's outdoors.

I find counting down the days to November makes the wait less boring.
November 1st to 11 will be the home stretch anyways

I'm not overly fussed about the map size just as long as it's not smaller than Oblivion's and because
a) the map will be more detailed and 'handcrafted' unlike Oblivion's terrain generation
and
b) the quest system will always give you something new to do, so essentially the exploring never stops
