if the soundtrack isn't available for purchase on release day, there will be hell to pay.
I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, but I'm becoming really excited for Skyrim. Should I get it? Having no experience in the previous games? (And most RPGs).
I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, but I'm becoming really excited for Skyrim. Should I get it? Having no experience in the previous games? No DX11, No spears, No crossbows, No mysticism, casual game elements, console port. Why!!?
No DX11, No spears, No crossbows, No mysticism, casual game elements, console port. Why!!?
Crossbows? Do you even know what the era is?
No DX11, No spears, No crossbows, No mysticism, casual game elements, console port. Why!!?
Honestly, go back to /v/
Crossbows? Do you even know what the era is?
Actually there were crossbows in Morrowind, but it's not worth complaining about.
Actually there were crossbows in Morrowind, but it's not worth complaining about.
Still isn't the right Era.
No DX11
Graphics aren't everything.
No spears, No crossbows
The Elder Scrolls totally had spears [del]and crossbows before.[/del] My bad, Morrowind did.
No mysticism
It's sunk into another skill instead.
casual game elements
What?
console port
Right, with it's mod support and stuff.
Crossbows? Do you even know what the era is?
It was my understanding that the story takes place in a fictional universe and thus does not conform to real world timeframes, and as such it would be perfectly posible for there to be a crossbow. Historically speaking, spears were used a lot during combat for their advantageous reach, and swords were used as more of a sidearm. The argument of no DX11 is probably a misconception due to the way the system requirements are worded. As to the rest, he's probably joking.
Crossbows would seem just out of place.
Not if done correctly.
The music for that concept art video, holy shit.
Not if done correctly.
How could it be done correctly?
The music for that concept art video, holy shit.
http://sentbyfools.tumblr.com/post/12041649869/completely-blue-sky-jeremy-soule
Crossbows would seem just out of place.
You know what, no, just no. Ive made both longbows/composite-bows and crossbows in my spare time, and anybody that says (or thinks) a crossbow is complex or "too high tech" is somebody who doesn't know what they are talking about. They've been around since year 200 (probably before that, even) and in their simplest form they are no more complex than any other bow.
idk where ill put my derg statue but it will be worth it I'm sure
Crossbows would seem just out of place.
We're talking about a fantasy world with magic and "robots", a crossbow is a perfectly reasonable thing to find. [editline]28th October 2011[/editline]
idk where ill put my derg statue but it will be worth it I'm sure
Don't put it anywhere, carry it with you everywhere.
No DX11
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Elder-Scrolls-V-Will-Use-Some-DirectX-11-Features-Not-All-of-Them-196034.shtml
I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, but I'm becoming really excited for Skyrim. Should I get it? Having no experience in the previous games? (And most RPGs).
Yes. (assuming somehow Skyrim isn't a total flop, which is unlikely as Bethesda haven't totally flopped a game yet) The beauty of Elder Scrolls is that all the titles are basically stand-alone experiences, connected together only by universe and lore. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind took place on the dark elf homeland of Morrowind (specifically the island of Vvardenfel), and featured many different environements primarily consisting of desert, volcanic, swampland, mushroom forests and archipelago's. The game has tons of in-game lore, from books to the storyline to characters etc. It was well known for its incredibly immersive and imaginative environment and world design, though its downfalls are the old clunky combat system (that requires you to create the best character possible in order for it to start out good), and just aged gameplay in general. ESIV: Oblivion was very much structured the same, except took place in the homeland of the Imperials, which are basically humans. The game's enviornment and world design took a very standard high-fantasy approach, and the main conflict centered around the "Oblivion Crisis", where gates to Oblivion (aka, "hell" in a really really simplified manner, but its not really... wiki it if curious) have opened and need to be closed. Skyrim is the Fifth game in the series, and takes place in the Nordic homeland of Skyrim. They all have a deep world desgin to them (though Oblivion was slightly lacking here), and can all be understood by themselves. Playing the others is nice only in the sense that you get to see how the series has progressed gameplay wise and visually, experience each unique "land", and you get a deeper sense of the lore behind the series and why some things are the way they are.
