It's the Fourth Era.
It's a different universe, I don't understand what you're getting at. Era has nothing to do with it.
Honestly, go back to /v/
I have my rights to my criticism. I'll explain myself since I was being very blunt.
No DX11. Sure graphics are not everything, but would Battlefield 3 be battlefield 3 on DX8 or 7? Would metro 2033 be metro 2033 on DX8? With more and more people purchasing DX11 video cards everyday why not launch with a DX11 capable Skyrim? Think of the profits, more people will be inclined to purchase skyrim if it has fancy DX11 tessellation. Hardware sites will use it as a benchmark for DX11 cards, therefore advertising Skyrim for free.
No spears is a little bit of a let down. Morrowind had spears, they were not throwable but hey they were spears. Spears were used by the scandinavians for war and for fishing, and this is a "Nord" themed game, it would fit.
No crossbows is a let down. Morrowind had crossbows and they were awesome. Crossbows were medieval weapons used for war and for hunting, they fit in with other weapons in the games such as shields, swords, axes, and bow and arrows.
Casual Elements from what I've seen, include dragon powers you receive on killing a dragon. I never got anything gamebreaking in the main quests from Daggerfall, Morrowind, or oblivion. What's the point of using any other spells other than these dragonspells since they're god mode spells? Another casual game element will be these silly takedown animations which look very awkward and broken.
Since the PC game version does not come with DX11, costs 59 dollars, and doesn't come with anything special ( BF3 gets commarose/DX11/Various hardware support/64 players, 2033 gets DX11 with PhysX ) this IS a console port.
And I was joking about the mysticism, I hated that spell school.

I'm sure the Dragon Shouts will have a cooldown. Like abilities in Oblivion could be only used once per in-game day.

You don't know that, you haven't played the game...[sp]have you?[/sp]

I have not played the game, but the PC version does not get anything special over the console version other than a ton of shitty anime / porn / nude mods. It should not be priced at 59 dollars.
What makes PC users more special than console users? Why should we get anything different?

You don't know that, and there will be some good mods too.
What makes PC users more special than console users? Why should we get anything different?
Well perhaps a version more optimized to our hardware and controls, but other than that...
You don't know that, and there will be some good mods too.
You can't give me any spear or crossbow mods. Not a single Oblivion mod has been able to incorporate new weapons with new animations from what I've seen.
What makes PC users more special than console users? Why should we get anything different?
Well... we have better hardware and for that we should get something that suits us just right. Be it 64 multiplayer spear / crossbow / beard team deathmatch daedra vs nords or the ability to be the adoring fan.

That's Oblivion, that was 5 years ago.

What about the geck kit? They will probably release something similar.
Spears and crossbows are something I dont get. Honestly the best reason for not having them is that they'd require unique sets of animations, and they may have higher priorities.
That said, spears are pretty much one of the most prevalent fighting weapons in history, so its sort of obvious why you'd want them in a game that uses historically-based weapons, crossbows just sort of make sense and are cool... would have liked to see soldiers of the imperial legion armed with crossbows, as crossbows were used by the roman empire and the imperials are pretty roman-esque.
Casual elements I couldn't give less of a fuck about, especially since in morrowind and daggerfall you were the only one who could make legitimate use of spells like "jump" and "levitate," likewise most of the times you were the only person using the really nasty spells like damage attribute, or just really powerful destruction spells; so nothing has really changed in that regard. More is expected of the character than of anybody else in the gameworld, so logically it makes sense to give the character some sort of edge (other than quicksave) at last in Skyrim that edge is obvious. "U R dragon born." whereas in morrowind daggerfall and oblivion you apparently and suspiciously were the only genius to think about making powerful spells.
Direct X 11, who cares.

You could not incorporate new weapons with new animations on the oblivion SDK, the Fallout 3 SDK, or the New Vegas SDK. Why would it be different this time around?
http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page
I meant one specifically for skyrim. An update to that one methinks.

Ive seen a bunch of new weapon animations in andoran. hell, they have spears in andoran. its just that there weren't very many legitimately talented mod makers for oblivion, either that or nobody wanted to do all the work for spears and crossbows. (probably too busy making sexy armor and breast bouncing anims)

Its called the "Creation Kit" and yes, there will be one.
That said, it does have limits and we have yet to see what they are.
I can't wait to add the official Skyrim soundtrack to my collection of music.

I am sadly mistaken then. I do apologize.
Hey guys I have the solution to this

Or just ignore him the old fashioned way.
I went to a convention today, and there was a statue of Dovahkiin for Skyrim, but I didn't see anywhere where I could play it. :(

Wow, ever heard of Directx 10? It's not like it skipped two. All of those games have DX10 options available. Besides, it's using DX11 components, it's just not using it's full potential YET. It'll be there in later games.
Who cares about spears, you have swords, axes, staffs, dragon shouts, bows, and magic.
Keep complaining about crossbows, it's not gonna do much.
It's a very original and clever gameplay mechanic. It's not like you use it all the time, or it's infinite.
Modding tools? Console ports don't have those. Besides, stop fucking comparing BF3 to Skyrim. They're entirely different fucking games. Skyrim doesn't even have multiplayer.
Skyrim Hype is back.
Gotta go to Skyrim, gotta kill dragons, gotta be the one they fear, gotta be...in their tongue Dovahkiin...DRAGONBORN!
-snip-
Who cares what seano12 says?
This is still Skyrim and it's less than 2 weeks away! Let the man bitch in peace and lets talk about Lusty Argonian Beards.

Argonians don't have beards... they're reptiles
Argonians don't have beards... they're reptiles
Nope, they are descended from the Hist Trees.

Bro same, I got a poster though.
It's a shame that the convention's gone downhill since it moved. I just can't get in the vibe anymore.

you have terrible ideas stop saying things
So what are you guys going to do first when Skyrim comes out? Besides jizz your pants, I mean.
I'm going for a sort of a cliched Beowulf-y route. A Nord Warrior who tries to save as many lives as possible and make all the "Good guy" choices.

an evil character who slaughters everyone for enjoyment.
just to see how far you can get in the game...
you can get very far in new vegas, it's great.

I don't usually make a new character dedicated to killing people (Dark Brotherhood excluded, of course) but what I found is that when you try to be a good guy in Elder Scrolls or Fallout you are provided with way more opportunities to be a complete douche than if you were just plain evil and killing everyone.

Well that's a bit childish. I'm in this thread to discuss the game.
