Oblivion 2: Skyrim V6: Old people's naked system requirements
Can't even open the game probably.....MAYBE just maybe all low. at like 6 fps though. Try getting SLIed 590s that might make you run medium at 30 fps.
Nah, 590s are worth than 580s. SLIed 590s give the same performance as a 580. I doubt Oblivion would run at all on his computer
For once can we ride something other then Horses, I mean come on even people ride fucking flying giant bugs in morrowind
I will be riding my boots, I hear its one of the new main ways of travel in Skyrim.
>implying directx version even matters
What people need to realise is that DirectX is just an API, an Application Programming interface, used so that programmers can write programs that interface with directx rather than writing them specifically for one set of hardware, excluding most people from playing the game. DirectX doesn't make the game look better. DirectX versions might offer better performancedue to refined programming, or maybe support for slightly more advanced features (like tesellation or antialiasing in games that use deferred rendering) but even if the new features are utilised they're not going to completely change how good the game looks. How good a game looks depends entirely on the assets that the developers create for it. As long as the rendering engine can display them properly and load them in without crashing and burning, the only thing that will affect how good the game looks are the models, textures, animations and shaders that the developers create for it, which for the most part are NOT limited by DIrectX version. People use DirectX 9 because they've been using it for years, it supports all the things they want it to support, and every piece of hardware from the past 7 years supports it. And there's also the little matter of the 360 using it.
I don't really agree. I think you've been led to believe that direct3d10 and 11 are worthless because games that use them are almost straight ports of functionality. It's true that it doesn't automatically make it better, but you're understating the overall importance. For some reason people really want pcs to advance and not be held back by consoles, but then there's this ridiculous direct3d phobia, so people only want to buy cards to brute force speed out of slower direct3d 9 / console level implementations. It's fucking weird man. Steam hardware survey says 93% of all cards are at least direct3d10 capable. Time to move on.
So how many pages before this thread closes?

They aren't useless, and I would prefer it if developers kept reasonably up to date with directX, but the fact that devs aren't keeping up do date with DirectX doesn't really damage the gameplay experience. I think the main thing the industry needs to get past is that DirectX is more than just something you can put on the box of your game to earn the goodwill of the PC crowd, or require people to buy your new OS to use it so they can remain on the bleeding edge.

I demand a Mudcrab merchant on a island
I demand a Mudcrab merchant on a island
Swim over to an island, walk into a little cave or den and see a Mudcrab hugging against a chest of gold and valuable/queer items laying around and in giant heaps.
Would be an interesting sight. It would be the only way to attain the dragon shout for summoning the Merchant Mubcrab of Wittledab, who uses a peculiar flute which makes his enemies run away from his fabulous fashion tastes and divine prices.
Skyrim's coming?
Six inches of snow.
I'm tempted to get this, but I'm still not sure
Game looks great. I hope future Fallout games will look this good.

It's mainly due to the colour correction method they use being really shit. They should use some kind of colour grading like Crysis 2.
