You don't use the guide for the story, you use it to help you find things that you didn't find without it on the first play-through and to help you if at some point you get stuck on something. It's not like you buy the guide and read everything and then play, that would just be retarded. The main reason people buy guides for a game like this is the extras they put in there like item lists, maps, miscellaneous quest lists and the like. Generally what I do is buy it, and set it aside, play through the game once and then look at it to see what I missed and to help me find new quests.

That reminds me, when Skyrim was first announced I started on a "Skyrim" mod for Oblivion wherein you're in a very small town covered in snow and there's nothing but a bunch of potato-faced Oblivionords (see what I did there?) who all have the exact same voice and will only say the default greetings, but I very quickly abandoned that because i realized that the effort it would take to create it (Not very much, mind you.) just wasn't worth it, no matter how many people I pissed off who took the time to download and install it. Then there were also going to be very very poorly made "dragons" and the town was on top of a mountain... Never went through with it though. Probably for the best.

Assuming that you could only pick 6 base skills to level up quicker with at the start of the game just like oblivion, and I already picked One-Handed, Block, Heavy Armor, Sneak, and Alchemy.
But I don't know what else to pick. I'm stuck between two things that interest me, Enchanting and Destruction.

I'm going to do a little rating vote here. Rate me disagree for destruction and optimistic for enchanting.
