What would be better a little mini game or just pressing a button once? I wouldn't mind the minigame since it's a passive activity anyways.
Imo mercenaries 2 did QTE's very well
QTE's can bring interaction and immersion to what would of been a normal cut-scene/animation and are actually fun and give feedback when done correctly , although putting them in just for the sake of it is a bad idea. For example, using a grinding stone to sharpen weapons and having to move the wheel with your mouse in a circular pattern would definitely increase immersion and give feedback and make it a little less boring to watch. God of war, heavy rain and a few others did it right, it was amazing how satisfying and fun they made QTE's in god of war, it gave life to what would of been a "put down your controller and watch" scenario. Regular combat QTE's is a bad idea though.
It doesn't the five-hundreth time, though. Probably put in a minigame for that instead.
At first, a QTE or a minigame might seem fun, but after a while you start to reach for the auto-pick button or whatever. In Fallout 3 I thought the hacking minigame was kind of cool, but after some normal gameplay I found it boring and tedious.
I never got bored of the mini-games in Oblivion or the fallout games personally, I can see how others would though it's a pretty repetitive task.
I have a shitty computer that probably can't run Oblivion, should I buy Morrowind on STEAM? I feel like I would give up on it very fast but I want to try the Elder Scrolls series.
Yes. Afcourse. It's Morrowind. How can you go wrong. Oh and btw, if my computer can run Oblivion, anyone's can. Except Disco's.
I don't mind QTEs too much. The ones in Fallout 3/NV I like. I don't really like Oblivion's lockpicking one too much.
I don't mind QTEs too much. The ones in Fallout 3/NV I like. I don't really like Oblivion's lockpicking one too much.
Hacking in Fallout and lockpicking in Oblivion aren't QTEs.
I suck ass at lockpicking in Oblivion, I know that you have to do it when it plays a slightly different sound but I always notice that too late and miss, or think I heard it and reset the lock
Skeleton Key takes care of all your Lockpicking Woes.
that's only because you've probably beaten off to the comic it came from mister khajit lover
:shh:
Skeleton Key takes care of all your Lockpicking Woes.
First thing I do in Oblivion. Get fame, get key, enjoy indifference of your security skill.
I wonder how much I'll get liquidating Glarthir's assets. Nothing like getting to strip a house empty.
First thing I do in Oblivion. Get fame, get key, enjoy indifference of your security skill.
I've only ever gotten it on my most recent playthrough and I've yet to pick a lock with it. I only got it this time because having it in your inventory is one of the few ways of getin the "Fortify Skill" effect for spellmaking.
Auto-try button.
No, I mean I've never actually entered the lock-picking minigame since I've gotten it. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] Thinking of restarting my Morrowind playthrough, but I'm so far through the main quest. I'm at the point where I have to [sp]convince everyone I'm really the Nerevarine[/sp] and I don't want to go through the [sp]5th house dungeons[/sp] again...
I could never get into morrowing no matter how hard I tried, oblivions combat spoiled me :c

Now do quests that jack your reputation sky high, or just get your rep sky high. [sp]They will automatically designate you nerevarine. As for becoming hortator, i dont remember.[/sp]
While morrowind's combat looks like shit and can be annoying when you're constantly missing, when you start to actually hit your targets, the combat is way better than Oblivion, at least from a gameplay flow standpoint. In Oblivion combat is almost entirely irrelevant since your weapon always does the same amount of damage regardless of where you hit somebody, and that amount of damage is quite minimal. You may as well just push a button and have your character automatically attack them, because every fight is almost exactly the same. At least in MW your weapon will do varying amounts of damage, and different types of attacks do different damage based on the weapon. In Oblivion its just slash slash slash slash slash *dead*
Oh, if only Bethesda games could have the Dark Messiah combat system (plus M&B blocking and horse combat) and non-finicky physics
Oh, if only Bethesda games could have the Dark Messiah combat system (plus M&B blocking and horse combat) and non-finicky physics
I agree with everything here. Except the horse combat, it just doesn't fit into an Elder Scrolls game.
I suppose so. Still, would be cool hunting from horseback. [editline]29th July 2011[/editline] And having guards ride down your criminal scum ass
Isn't the team from Dark Messiah working on Skyrim's combat I know Bethesda acquired them some time ago
Isn't the team from Dark Messiah working on Skyrim's combat I know Bethesda acquired them some time ago
They've never official been stated to be working on Skyrim, but from what we've seen it's a logical assumption.
Any info on if we'll be able to kick shit in Skyrim? I loved kicking everyone in Dark Messiah.

Where do I get this fabled Skeleton Key?
Is anyone actually curious as to what my Morrowind character looks like?
Where do I get this fabled Skeleton Key?
You hit ~ then click on the door you want opened, then type "unlock" Wait, Im getting confused. Though they are pretty much the same thing :v: It's a daedric quest for Nocturnal
Where do I get this fabled Skeleton Key?
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Nocturnal do this
