So do I. It was really entertaining back when it was released, even if it looks goofy and floaty and whatnot by today's standards.
Who actually cares about graphics in a bethesda game? They're meant to be well optomized and more importantly, fun, not a flashy tech demo
Oh god, the animation when you get knocked down is pretty bad. But I kind of expected this, what would be a Bethesda game without mediocre animations. Still really hyped for this.
Fighting animations are still as lame in Oblivion. Slash left, slash right. Except this time they added obnoxious and ugly LOL DECAPITATION AND GORE animations.

They did a shit job with FO3 and FONV then :)
FO3 was a great game, admittedly I don't know what it was like on the Pc but most people seem to like it. NV on the other hand was made by obsideon so it's kind of unfair to blame bethesda for that game

Wasn't great but it was pretty entertaining, then again I know a lot of people these days can't accept a game that is hit and miss. I prefer Morrowind over Oblivion any day though.

Yes, entertaining back when it was released in 2006. Why are you so accepting of the same apparent flaws in Skyrim now in 2011?

If Oblivion wasn't a good game would it have gotten 94/100 on metacritic?
Or the PC Game of The Year?
Or the RPG of The Year?
Or the Overall Game of The Year?
according to the youtube comments that footage isn't the final build and is being played on the 360 as well as not having the final voice acting either, not sure if that's the truth but a lot of people are backing the claim

aaaaaaand the video is blocked. Well at least I got to see it this time

Wasn't Bethesda doing quality assurance for Obsidian?

I think he might have been sarcastic, hard to tell though.

haha I don't even know where to begin with this.
Wasn't Bethesda doing quality assurance for Obsidian?
They were the publisher, you can't really blame bethesda's development team for what that quality control team got wrong.
I think Oblivion is still very nice when you push the graphics to the max (even without mods), because unlike a lot of other "beautiful" games, it's actually a very colorful game with a lot of stuff all around - I loved roaming around coasts and forests because it looks very nice in its own way.
For me the only games that surpass are Far Cry 1, 2 and Crysis because they all had a lot to show at the same time. Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 are huge letdowns because they only show gray and brown empty urban settings (and sometimes big deserts with nothing in it, what a change).
But once again I have my own set of criteria concerning a game's visual quality, set that doesn't include useless crap like over-mega-super-detailled-ultra-high-resolution-textures, super fine models or complete lack of aliasing - just good ambiance and a recognizable visual identity.

I love arguing about Oblivion, let me go put on my arguing cap.
I laughed like hell when the guy turned in to a ragdoll and flew straight in to the wall
FO3 was, no matter what you say, Oblivion with guns. It was bland and boring.
I managed to get over 100 hours out of it, I personally thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of exploration and a decent number of quests is all I want in these kinds of games.
haha I don't even know where to begin with this.
Apparently nowhere, since you never did.
haha I don't even know where to begin with this.
I agree with the fact just because a game gets awards doesn't necessarily make it a good game. Though it is generally a well received game by a lot of people not just critics and general audience.
Fable is much better.... no guys just shut up arguing, like which ever game you like and stick with it.
Oblivion had it's flaws, but it was still a damn good game.

I fucking loved fallout 3. More than NV, for a few reasons (I don't deny New Vegas was a bad game, I just preferred F3's atmosphere because it was closer to what a post-apocalyptic universe would be than NV, which was more of a post-post-apocalyptic setting).

It didn't feel anything like Oblivion to me. It was very very different sure it had some of the things the same but it was on the same engine.

Fallout was always about post-post-apocalyptic tho.

If you think metacritic or "games journalism" has any merit, credibility, or is any sort of reliable gauge of how good a game is then you are probably retarded.
Goddamn ZeniMax

I really hope this is true, the game could use a few minor improvements
People in this thread who harshly criticize Bethesda and their recent games are actually pretty much like the fat basement dwellers having ultra-high standards on the internet when talking about girls.
There is no point trying to reason them at all, since they'll just end up buying the game anyway.
If you want great graphics go play BF3, I however would much rather enjoy a good open world game

Wait what are girls?
