Morrowind rules Oblivion drools thread over
I'm uploading the leaked footage for anyone who missed it. It should be done shortly.
Awesome, thanks!
People sure love finding little things to argue about. Look at Red Orchestra 2 and Battlefield 3. Why must everybody argue about things they've been looking forward to for months?
The amount of stupid in this thread is nauseating.
Morrowind had far more care put into its creation than Oblivion and people attacking its combat obviously don't know how to level their skills properly.
'people don't like a game I liked, they're stupid'
stop
The impression might also be because of the fog. One of the reasons I love oblivion and fallout 3 so much compared to games a lot of people consider as superior (i.e morrowind and new vegas) is because once you finish the tutorial, you pretty much instantly can go wherever you want completely freely - Oblivion does that very well with a huge distance that you have to travel in order to start the main quest, leaving you on exploration instantly, and fallout 3 gave you a large view of the world map, while New Vegas stuck you in a small valley you could only leave from one side if you didn't want to end up raped by death claws, and morrowind sent you to another city instantly, the fog adding to the impression you couldn't really go much far away.
Wait what. I took like 10 hours to even think of going to do the main questline in morrowind, I easily just left the starting town and explored a bunch, finding some pretty cool loot on the way. New Vegas was pretty much the same, but you just had to be a bit more careful not to stumble on more dangerous enemies.

The combat system is awful in Morrowind because it's not actual combat, it's dice rolls you trigger by clicking a single button of your mouse. People don't whine because they lose all the time, they whine because you don't have anything to do but constantly click the mouse without moving to attack the opponent and hope he won't touch you while you touch him.

It's just brorrowind. MGE XE lets you set a custom screen resolution.
I don't think anyone is gonna convince anyone to accept their opinion.
Anyone notice in the video that when he is about to start character builder, the game zooms in on the guards face like you were about to start taling. It's a small nitpick but it bugs me for some reason.

Seriously people. Can you ever be satisfied? Nothing that I have read seen or heard has in any way diminished my excitement for this game and it never will.
Why are we even discussing dice rolls? They make no sense, I have no idea why they were even implemented into games in the first place.
Because morrowind is a hardcore "true" rpg, it's like a board game that goes on in a giant world rather than a single dungeon.

and daggerfall was better than morrowind
Anyway, know we know what the sons of Skyrim mean. They're you. You're taking sides on two different games of the same fucking series, and now your spilling your own blood JUST before Skyrim releases.
Way to fucking doom Tamriel.
While true, and I agree that Morrowind did character progression much better, Oblivion just felt more fluid. Dice-roll board game style gameplay is an aged-old RPG gameplay style only made because at the time it was the best they could come up with, and all the best Isometric RPG's did it (where it makes sense).
For first person RPG's, the dice-roll system just doesn't make much sense.
I agree that in a first person perspective it feels odd to have your abilities constrained by dice rolls, when it comes to first person I normally expect greater realism and suffer a disconnect when my attack doesn't hit despite me seeing it hit. But what also causes a disconnect is when my attack on a naked dude while he's sleeping, axe to the head, results in him standing up and making me hit him a bunch more times to end the fight, I won't deny that Oblivion's combat feels more fluid, because it is. The issue I take with Oblivion's combat is that it largely abandons the significance of stats to deliver that fluidity, which isn't necessary, Demon's Souls being an example of a game that has you heavily constrained by your stats but still feels fluid and slick as all hell.

Exactly. Some people like that aged gameplay model and others like the newer gameplay model. Why we can't get along I'll never know.

I feel like Link is just smashing people on facepunch with witty responses.
Back on topic about Skyrim, was there any werewolf pics/details released ? I know they're here but I'd like to know if you can actually become one, and if we know how they'll look like.

Hey now, while New Vegas is more structured than the bethesda games (since it's made by obsidian, who are very good at storytelling but haven't made a freeroam game before) Morrowind is the most open RPG I've played. There's literally no compulsion to actually do the main quest, and even the guy who goves you the opening missions plays down their importance and tells you to explore.

they aren't in the game
If you think Morrowinds combat is more dynamic than Oblivion's you're an idiot.
It's like saying a game of chess is as dynamic as a game of football.
I don't, I think they're equally as bad as each other in their own ways.
