The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim V5: But there is one they fear - Dragon porn!

Man, after months on /v/, coming back here is great. Actual discussion of an Elder Scrolls game with almost no pessimism and trolling that plagues /v/'s attempts at decent threads.

LOL u got trolled
Just want to reassure some people here. I played the game at PAX. The game looked beautiful. It had some flaws such as laggy snowy areas (wasn't that bad and only happened for about 2 seconds but happened to my friend for a bit longer) and some things looked a bit odd. It reminded me of how oblivion looks on my xbox compared to how it looks on my PC. PC version of oblivion looked and felt better (I got oblivion really late). I'm not going to worry and even if it does have some problems on release date I won't care.
This, only I played at Eurogamer. The game played really nicely and the scenery was pretty damn nice. My only gripe was the lack of anti-aliasing, especially since the screen I was playing on was fucking huge. :v:

Some of the shadows looked like shit. Although I hope they're better on PC. (of course they will be :v:)
Yeah, if there's one thing that could easily be improved for the PC it's turning up the shadow resolution. I'm a realist with these sorts of things, higher res textures probably won't happen but better shadows is easy enough to do.

Haven't seen these before, it looks really nice.

I had to play on a tiny ass screen (well maybe near the size of my monitor). They only had 16 xbox 360s with the game running and a line going around about 5 times with a 5 hour wait. (Glad I fucking ran to the booth first thing when PAX opened. Only had to wait 30-40 minutes to play!)

Yup. Only top-of-the-line, high-quality optimism here.

Plus if you even mention Skyrim on /v/ people complain that it's viral.
Two groups of people in here (mostly):
1: Overhyped themselves and are now dissapointed.
2: Making excuses for all the bad of the game. Here's a reality check, the PC won't magically fix everything, anything that's wrong with the game (in the leaked video) will probably still be on release.
Of course there are going to be problems with the game, anyone with any realistic expectations will expect a few problems here and there.

you're on /v/ at the wrong time, had a discussion on there early this morning. felt like i should have been sipping on brandy.
Fuck TF2 I missed my chance on getting Skyrim
You're forgetting the third group.
3: Still hyped as humanly possible and buying 20 copies of this game
I might belong in that group although I can't buy the game, but that is not important.
I have waited for years, a couple more can't hurt.

Steam sale on the way (christmas), if you're lucky the game's price will be cut as well.
Are the finishing moves really looking that bad? in the demo todd howard always shows off they look alright? i was looking forward to having the finishing moves to breath new life into the combat and give it some action packed punch

They aren't that bad
I might be late to the party on this one, but I hear some rumors about regenerating health.
There is regenerating health (you can see it happen in the second part of the leaked vidya) but it only seems to take effect when not in combat, or after extended period of time of not being hit.
Hope it happens for NPCs too, though. Would hate for it to be one of those "player only" things.

I personally am okay with regenerating health out of combat. Just makes it so you don't have to wait an ingame hour or so after every fight. In my eyes it helps but if it is in some people will probably mod it out for those who hate it.
i agree with my fellow eurogamer brothers i also thought it looked alot better there.
dead island brought disapointment to me before its release also, however i still enjoyed the fuck out of it so i think skyrim will be the same, like a flawed gem i guess.
We've known about regenerating health forever.
Has there been any word of it's player only, though?

Meh, you're a fucking Dragonborn, so who knows what kinda crazy shit is going on with your physiology. In a world where magic is rife, words can be powers, and you're a mythic being, regenerating health kinda makes sense.

But what will I do with all the potions and food I make ;(
I'm with Group 5: People who have been following the thread loosely and have no idea what is going on.
I'd have to say i belong here as well. With as much people posting, and as often as they post, and as much bullshit their posts contain, i mostly just scroll through the 5 new pages each hour fairly quickly looking for links, videos, or photos that i haven't seen yet. I am still pretty excited though, deffinatelly attending the midnight release a few blocks from me. Going to be my first midnight attenting...thing

Cool, I didn't know that there is plastic in Skyrim.
oh my god just accept that the shadows and textures on the 360 look bad

Are you getting the game for xbox? if you are not then you don't have to worry about this pic
If you are getting it on xbox.. Upgrade your PC and get it for that instead
I think regenerating health would kind of make health spells and potions a bit redundant.
Oh no a low-res texture bug, it's not like that happens in pretty much every xbox 360 game.
It's not a texture bug. Those are the textures, there aren't better textures loading in
oh my god just accept that the shadows and textures on the 360 look bad
I have accepted it and it amuses me greatly

I think the dragon shouts are ok, but giving the player quickly regenerating health and nobody else would be a step in the wrong direction IMO. Hopefully it's a feature that scales with difficulty, or hopefully it just applies to both players and npcs.
At least the dragon powers are explained, but if you just regenerate health for seemingly no reason while everybody else doesn't... pretty lame.
