I'm going to try playing Dark Messiah again tomorrow.
I can give you some tips and tricks if you want, there are actually a few things in the combat system that one can abuse to gain an advantage when fighting groups.
Yeah, but at the end of the day DM is a combat game and Skyrim is an RPG. It's just a matter of where priorities are in terms of man-hours put into making the game. I do wish we could have another Dark Messiah game though.
Combat is an absolutely essential part of the game though.
So I heard in one of the videos a while back that this song from Morrowind returned, and was given a new Skyrim themed facelift. Does anyone who has listened to the Skyrim soundtrack know of any others that are coming back? I don't want to spoil the soundtrack before release, but Morrowind has one of, if not my most favorite soundtrack ever composed, and I can't wait to hear the new versions Skyrim can offer.

Combat is an absolutely essential part of the game though.
That doesn't mean it has to be great, it just means it has to work.
Just ordered Skyrim from INTkeys. Hooray for Russians!
I don't really get the whole CD key buying craze lately. Wouldn't you have a problem getting the Russian copy of a game?
That doesn't mean it has to be great, it just means it has to work.
You could say that about any other part of the game as well, if you're gonna go at making a game like that, you're not gonna have a great game in the end.
You could say that about any other part of the game as well, if you're gonna go at making a game like that, you're not gonna have a great game in the end.
Not really. It's well established that the focus in ES games is exploration and developing your character, NOT combat. I mean, look at Morrowind.
Were is the cheapest place to legally obtain Skyrim besides Intkeys (ive heard some bad stories in the BF3 thread about them)
If someone took the whole staff in the Bethesda HQ hostage and threatened to blow up the building if they didnt release Skyrim at that very moment, would you regard that man as a criminal or a hero?
New graphics card (GTX 560) Just in time to play me some skyrim.
Does anyone know how magic works with a Bow? I assume you just can't cast when you have a Bow equipped?
I don't really get the whole CD key buying craze lately. Wouldn't you have a problem getting the Russian copy of a game?
Not on steam, you wouldn't. If it wasn't a steamworks game, then maybe.
Were is the cheapest place to legally obtain Skyrim besides Intkeys (ive heard some bad stories in the BF3 thread about them)
The only bad thing BF3 lovers have to say about them is the fact that they pre-ordered BF3 from them, and then EA removed the ability to download a language pack for the russian version, making any people who baught from Intkeys, had to play in russian. But Intkeys explained this, and offered refunds, so i dont see the problem people have with this? Intkeys is the cheepest, and is legit IMO.
If someone took the whole staff in the Bethesda HQ hostage and threatened to blow up the building if they didnt release Skyrim at that very moment, would you regard that man as a criminal or a hero?
Hero, If anyone from Bethesda was harmed, then instant criminal
Not really. It's well established that the focus in ES games is exploration and developing your character, NOT combat. I mean, look at Morrowind.
Just because Morrowind's combat was bad doesn't mean it was supposed to be. And for the exploration thing, what did you find in Morrowind's dungeons, ruins, keeps and general environment? Monsters. What did you do with them? Fight them, that's what you did.

Am going to miss this, so so much. :(
I don't think the second Dev Diary has been posted yet http://www.elderscrolls.com/community/making-dragon-sandwich-sound-skyrim/
Wait, are you seriously saying that combat is the main focus of ES games?
No, I'm saying that it's one of the core parts of it. Kinda like those 4 pillars of gameplay they modelled Deus Ex 3 after. You can't deny that combat is essential to the game, and while it may not be THE main focus, it's part of it for sure. Dude, I played houndreds of hours of both Oblivion and Ymorrowind, and I still play Morrowind almost daily, I know what the game is about, and combat, be it by magic or weapon, is important. Very important.
I feel like I've heard Jeremy Soule in other game franchises, but I don't remember which or if I'm even right that it was him and not some guy with a similar name. What else has he scored besides the TES games?
Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, KOTR, just to name a few.
Wait, are you seriously saying that combat is the main focus of ES games?
uh... well, 90% of the skills and attributes are combat oriented, 90% of the items are combat oriented, 90% of the game's quests involve fighting something, and 90% of the game's areas have hostile spawns. TES isn't about fighting, but most of the gameplay mechanics and most of the content is there to support combat, so yes, it would appear to be the main focus of the series.
I never knew the FP Ratings could be used as high pressure sales tactics, especially since they don't appear under your name anymore Someone give me Skyrim or I will rate dumb!
Me purchasing Skyrim as a friendly gift and getting rated dumb are were two completely unrelated incidents. I didn't think giving people presents would be met with such a fucking harsh reaction. I'll remember not to do that again.
I get what you're saying, and yeah, it doesn't need to be DM level, but it's just so disappointing for me that I can already see I'll be fighting cardboard boxes with paper swords again.
The Elder Scrolls: Level based Role-Playing type fighting games.
Any video game: Level based character controlling interactive story.
Not all games are level based.
Not all games are level based.
You beat THIS level! Welcome to the NEXT level. I mean't level as in section of the game.
November 11th is awesome for me. Skyrim is released, I'm going to a performance of Mozart's Requiem, and I'm having a game night with my cousin. Kickass.
