It's a shame tes games by default are not very building based. I'd live if I was able to buy a tent, bring some crates over and make it my camp.
Depending on the new modding tools, I may or may not be off to try things like that.
If the scripting is any better than it used to be, it might even be possible!

[editline]6th November 2011[/editline]
Fun fact: Kolbrunarskald would be "Brown as coal skald" in english.
Yeah. Mine seems to be a transliteration. I always hate Transliteration in text. That's one reason why i can't take the English bible seriously. No one was called Mary or John back in time. It's just too 1887. Translation is a-ok. But fuck! Don't transliterate locations and names you sack of shit!
Wow. This isn't even a transliteration. It's just a crude translation. You don't ever translate names! Now i'm all wound up over this. Christ- No i mean Kristus!
I doubt they would remove dynamic shadows on the console version and leave it on the pc. that graphical change is too significant, you would feel completely stripped down of visuals if you buy the console version.
the developers just hype the graphics up in screenshots and videos, when in the actual game the presentation is stripped down a tonne. they did the same thing with oblivion.
360 version has dynamic shadows, even the hawks and small birds in the sky casts a dynamic shadow on the ground. Foliage, characters, structures, everything has a shadow. Light sources like flames can modify the size of your shape on the walls when you walk around them.
Shadows resolution is on par with any other xbox 360 or ps3 game, they're not perfectly sharp, but the final effect is good.
By the way, the snow is volumetric and not just drawed on the screen, it reacts to the direction of the wind and to the direction you are moving. The wind in certain condition can slow you down, or speed you up, and the fallen snow on structures, rocks and walls is not part of the wall texture, it's like the dirt effect in super mario sunshine, a second texture above the original one.
Every effect is present on the Xbox 360 version.
As expected, marvellous!
Can anyone confirm if rain or snow falls inside structures? That's one thing that was really shit about Oblivion.
I'll be going with Jörundr or Rafnsvartr as my Nord's name, depending on if I decide to go more combat or stealth oriented. Not a significant person, but the names both have their meanings.
Anyone know what scripting language Skyrim will use? Wanna try my hand at some shitty modding.
Alright man, don't get too philosophical. :V
It makes sense now: Skyrim is the World of the Ideas of Plato

I'll be going with... Thodin.
Because why settle with the name of one badass Norse god when you can have twice the badassery.
Askrsvída.
I'll be a spellblade like character.
Name means Ashburn in Old Norse.
Weiss, if you wanna go for the correct spelling of Ravenblack: Hrafnsvartr or Hrafnblakkr OR Hrafnblár.
i wonder if it'll be possible to have more than one wife...
Does anyone know if entering buildings work in the same way as in Oblivion? Aka you press space on the door and it loads the interior and teleports you inside.
Somehow how doors work has completely eluded me and I can't make myself watch some of the leaked footage to find out.

the streams i've been watching say otherwise.
unless the version they are streaming have no dynamic shadows.
Pffft, that mouse is for amateurs. Real pro hardcore gamers use this:

[sp](I'm kidding, by the way, and yes, that's my mouse)[/sp]

In addition, hnnnnng. That is all.
Real pro's don't need mice or keyboards, bro.
They use their mind power.
yeh, the 360 version is the final build.
and there are hardly any shadows/dynamic stuff in the interiors, looks awful

its not even out
how could anyone even know that
Greyendir. Anagram of a band, but still sounds plausible.
I hope I'll be able to run this on medium or so settings.
Can anyone please confirm this as I'm not extremely savvy with insides of computer:
3GB of RAM
nVidia Geforce 8600GT
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40GHz
Thank you.
Since I am not touching any streams or anything, I got a question. If you guys saw anything with soulgems, do they have the name of the creature it was captured from?
I loved having a collection of souls in Morrowind, hell, I trapped the soul of Almalexia in Azura's Star and kept it as a trophy.

the leaked 360 version is probably a review copy, and doesn't have all the features enabled. I've seen videos of the 360 version with dynamic shadows (that 30 minutes of gameplay from the beginning of the game that was leaked had dynamic shadows..) so maybe it depends on the source of the leak?

I'm playing it, trust me. I don't remember if shadows are also self shadowed on characters, i'll check again later.
For the guy who asked about doors: it works like in Oblivion, when you have to enter a big town or an house, you open the door and there's a black screen with hints and a brief loading time.

characters should self shadow if the shadows are dynamic.
characters should self shadow if the shadows are dynamic.
Yes, but sometimes it may be disabled due to optimization. You, as a developer, can decide what casts a shadow, and when. I'll chek and i'll let you know.

The guy who composed those songs said in a comment on one of his videos that he would mod them into the game.
because putting a song into a folder is modding, right?
Actually, yes it is.

Noted
I suppose the username and all give the wrong idea but I am monolingual, I don't actually speak any germanic languages :v: I was just reading up on common Old Norse names/name construction to assuage my boredom.
because putting a song into a folder is modding, right?
By definition, yes, you're modifying the game files
Yes, but sometimes it may be disabled due to optimization. You, as a developer, can decide what casts a shadow, and when. I'll chek and i'll let you know.
yeah that's true, if i recall correctly, judging by footage, the shadows have a pretty short draw distance, as well as the grass... they're the only gripes I had with the gameplay that todd howard showed; hopefully pc version has much further for both (resulting in a better over-all aesthetic)

From the stream I watched a couple minutes of, the doors crack open then they load the interior and you are teleported inside.
Would be more appropriate on release, but oh well.

OC.
This is like Runescape all over again, but instead of DarkSlayer or PhantomRider it's now in norse and ten times worse.
[editline]6th November 2011[/editline]
Which is completely understandable as anything else would put a shitload of strain on the engine.
Here's hoping for an open cities type mod, but for buildings (doubt it as rarely are the buildings the same size on inside as outside though)
