The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim V5: But there is one they fear - Dragon porn!

Especially since it is an open world game. Try to find another open world RPG game with this level of detail and size/content, seriously.
The endless argument of video games.
IIRC the same thing happened with Dead Island as is happening here. But people got over it and enjoyed the hell out of it.
yet again graphics vs aesthetics
wasn't the basic tutorial video to understanding the difference posted like last page
Skyrim may not have the best graphics of things released this year, but they're certainly not bad. The textures look fine, I do however note that I have pretty low standards for graphics since I'm a victim of a very active imagination that can easily bump the fidelity up for me.
But what makes it is that foggy, wintry aesthetic; the contrast of the darker colors with snow and mist, of the mountains against the clouds. It doesn't need 16000x16000 textures with eighteen different shaders applied to look fucking fantastic, and yet again, everything we've seen so far is from 360. From what I've heard that's equivalent to the sort of PC that would have been top-of-the-line in, say, 2006 or so? What we have seen so far is no representation of what it will likely look like on PC. So get the stick out of your ass, and if you turn out to be right once we get a good look at it running on a rig that isn't shit and ass I'll bow my head when you say "I told you so".

Okay, so here's a 1080p image. It's quality is pretty shitty, but point out any ridiculously stretched or muddy textures out to me and you win.
I dunno man, I can't see any. There seems to be intricacies on the armor, such as engravings and being worn a bit.
[sp] because there's no fucking way you can say Skyrim looks bad, unless you come from 10 years in the future [/sp]

Why is that even an argument? If the game is really big, they should have taken a little more time on it?
Seriously, why do you think it even comes close to looking bad? Maybe then you shouldn't even look at MW2 or MW3 with shit textures EVERYWHERE.
I'm just playing it to because I loved morrowind. If it isn't all it's cracked up to be, back to morrowind. If it is, great.
So what DOES look good to you? Skyrim looks fine for an '11 game.

Of course, those are still images, we have yet to see Skyrim in action.
All of those Oblivion comparisons are being played on the lowest settings for maximum difference. I know for a fact Oblivion looks at least twice as good as those screenshots
Why is that even an argument? If the game is really big, they should have taken a little more time on it?
Every single dev would like "a bit more time" to polish up one more piece, and one more piece, but they can't do that. They took a long time with this anyway and it does look good.
Why is that even an argument? If the game is really big, they should have taken a little more time on it?
I'm done arguing with you. You clearly haven't any idea about how a game is made or what can or can't be done with current console/pc technology.
You can't have an incredibly open and expansive world and ground-breaking graphics. Not with the technology we're using.(360, PS3)
Not with the time constraints that these companies/studios are working with.
They look good IN COMPARSION - but they don't look good. It has the lighting, textures and models only marginally better than something you'd expect in Resident Evil 4, on gamecube.
As a developer you can only do a few things when it comes down to graphics in an open world game. You can spend inordinate amounts of resources on graphics and everything else will take a hit, or you can spend time working on the asthetics of the game while toning the graphics down slightly.
Skyrim will look good, not because of the tectures and modelling, but because of what it can actually offer you in terms of art direction and the environments (which is by far Bethesda's strongpoints). You get fully engrossed in the thought that this is a nord's world full of viking analogues and all the trailers seem to point that out.
Who cares how it looks? As long as I can see a sword is a sword and a dragon is a dragon, why does it matter?
does look good.
But see what I'm saying is that I don't think it does.
Besides, developer released screenshots shouldn't even be used as evidence. you could find some of cod4 that look as good as ones from skyrim. the gameplay videos are the real show. and they look quite awful in every one I've seen. didn't you guys figure out after what happened with oblivion that Bethesda aren't afraid to stretch the truth?
Why is that even an argument? If the game is really big, they should have taken a little more time on it?
Remember, these are all screenshots from the console versions. Due to the shitty hardware that 'modern' consoles have, everything has been dramatically downscaled and held back from what it could have been or is. Uncharted 2 looks worse and it has less of a performance overhead because it is a smaller scale linear game with much less processing involved so TECHNICALLY they should be able to get more out of it even though it looks worse.

If you thought the best thing about morrowind was combat then you are dearly mistaken.
So how reliable is Intkeys? Cheap as hell price, though yeah. Sort of sketchy. Can anyone confirm validity for me?
If you thought the best thing about morrowind was combat then you are dearly mistaken.
I didn't say that. The combat system was stat-based, the game was supposed to be stat-based in relation to your character. That's all there is to it.

No fraud keys, but you probably won't get Skyrim from them until the 11th or 12th.
hey uh guys watch this please

They did a good job with the dynamic dragon animations

Battlefield 3 looks awesome on the consoles. So does Uncharted 2 and 3 as well as Gears Of War 3.
I don't get the vendetta against the game here, especially given the fact that the game isn't even released yet. Are we really arguing over how it holds up technically already? All we have are some tiny screens, gameplay videos and some 240p console streams.

"Some other game looks bad as well, therefore Skyrim does not look bad."

and the 720p videos released by the developers that still look pretty bad, even though they've been able to pick out the best looking parts of the game.

Is that the code that I get, or am I able to do the pre-download?

This thing is literally the worst, its the epitome of a superiority complex why do people link that as if it means anything?
I feel sorry for all of you if you're going to play games for their graphics. I play them for fun, like you're meant to.

Now I'm not a fanboy of the game, I literally had never played anything in the series before yesterday, but stop saying that it looks worse than Skyrim. Because it doesn't.
Hey, remember how Morrowind was the Crysis of its time?
Do we really need to argue about it? Those of us who like it can enjoy it and those who don't can ignore it. Simple.
