To be fair I didn't expect the visuals to be super amazing, I just expected them to be better than oblivions, and to be honest; based on what i've seen, i'm more than happy with what they're giving us for the sheer size of the game. No doubt there'll be mods to make it even more "HD TEXTURES BEAUTY SEXY PEOPLE TITS" etc, but what the fuck is the point? If you care so much about tiny little details in the world that you have to see every grain of dirt to be immersed in a game then what the fuck are you buying a bethesda game for (especially when most of them make the over-all aesthetic worse by trying to be so fucking detailed)

Oh god I load a save on Oblivion and suddenly everything is brown except for the ui and the menus, does anyone know how to fix this?

can you still see the physical geometry? I had a similar issue when in foggy weather, just wait like 12 hours or something if that's the case

Alright. I need some serious advice. I can cancel my PS3 preorder and preorder on Steam instead. I can choose between a new desk or a new graphics card.

My current specs are:

•Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
•GeForce 9500 GT
•6GB RAM

If I were to forego the desk and order a graphics card, I'd be getting an EVGA GTX 560Ti.

So I have two questions:
•Can my PC run Skyrim at 30fps with console-level graphics in its current state?
•Should I forego the desk and instead get a new graphics card?

Please help. I don't want to throw down $60 on launch only to have an unplayable game.

This time around I think I'm going to try to avoid fast traveling as much as I can. I always did it way too much in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Well the card is pretty shit, and the rest of your specs are good for the game, so get a new card and you'll play it no problem.

But if you really just want to play it at low than I guess you're fine now.

Tbh, the console version really won't be that bad.

It's just that it won't have any mods and graphics are worse.

If you really need a new desk, go ahead and get it, but I think that getting a GTX 560Ti would mean your CPU would bottleneck it quite a bit, but it would still run ridiculously well.

If you want Crysis, go play Crysis. If you really speak of the kind of top-tier graphics that SOME games have, get out. I mean I want you to name 30 games that have really top of the line l33t graphics. All I can think of is BF3, Crysis 1/2, and Metro 2033.

There's a reason Skyrim doesn't look like the best of games, and that's because they don't want their customers to go upgrade their computer if they want to play it on PC. I mean even Valve does this for crying out loud. Why is valve still using Source? Because it's the most stable and flawless engine ever?(protip, it isn't). No, it's because it's [I] accessible[/I]. My laptop with integrated graphics guold handle l4d2 on low even. Portal 2 was very good looking, yes, but nowhere near the graphical quality of games like Crysis and Battlefield. The only reason the very flat walls looked so good this time was because most of the textures used in Portal really fits on flat walls. (Also, skyrim uses parallax mapping, and portal doesn't.)

I don't get it with these graphics whores these days. Fucking spoiled brats that has been fed from the hand with "omg cool graphics" from games like Crysis and BF3. I get it, the games look nice. But I can't enjoy either Crysis or Bf3 on high, so it makes me glad I can atleast (hopefully) max Skyrim.

I can get it if you think it looks like shit based on the leaks where the texture has been all grummy. But a user here even confirmed that's a glitch from the leaked version. The full version will look better on console, and even better on PC. But actually dissing a game just for graphics not being as good as crysis? What the hell is up with that? There's a TON of good games that doesn't match crysis in graphical quality. Might as well piss on them too...

I love the massive world in elder scrolls games and love the gameplay.

Would be nice if I had all 3 in either of the games but its also nice without.

I've made a deal with myself this time around, I will travel by horse the first time I want to go to a place, and the after I've been there I will fast travel. Kinda as if I had to discover the city before I can travel to it like you have to with caves and ruins and such.

the major problem everyone has with the game is the crappy animation. animation doesn't require any processing power. the otherwise sub-par graphics are just the icing on the cake.
