While Oblivion had a team of five voice actors, Skyrim will have 70. Now, adjusting for pitch changes and intonation sets, that gives us... About six or seven thousand unique voices.
wait what?
you can't just make up numbers like that

also bethesda are probably too lazy to do it
[editline]5th August 2011[/editline]
understaffed to do it
[editline]5th August 2011[/editline]
not enough time
too few snacks in the vending machines
What do you think are the chances Skyrim would be a poorly optimized slightly buggy mess like Oblivion was out of the gate? Do you think we're gonna still have those damn floating items on top of furniture?
You know what I think is the most amazing thing about Skyrim?
All the screenshots we've been seeing have come from the console versions of the game.
All the video comes from the same source.
The game looks bloody fantastic, graphically.
Now think of how good the PC version will look on max graphics. Once you stop convulsing, feel free to post.
I don't expect it to look much better to be honest, I mean it's not that great looking now anyway
Oblivion was amazing when it was released, but that was new technology on a new console generation. Skyrim has a noticeable improvement in graphics, but the game is looking a bit old.

It will be buggy as hell, that's for certain. Sandbox games are always buggy and the more detail they go into (having separate objects on tables and shit you can pick up and sell) the harder it's for the playtesters to find everything
If you want it to be playable with minimal immersion-breaking bugs you'd have to wait till January when it's patched mostly OK
If 10 dollars is that big of a hit to your wallet, the last thing you need to be spending money on is some video game.
Ten bucks can make the difference between buying one game or two, especially if you assign yourself a sort of entertainment budget you spend monthly which includes movies, music, games, nights out with friends and cocaine. Just because you don't lack disposable income doesn't mean you don't appreciate the value of money
I'm not bothered about pre-ordering it from Steam. Gonna get the shiny nice Collector's Edition...
when they announce it!

I know it'll be buggy. I'm going to buy it anyway, because, like you mentioned, I don't want to have to wait until January.
This TF2 pre-order helm sucks. I want an actual real life helm as a pre-order.
pre-ordered my copy of skyrim today
come november, i will not exist outside of my room.

You will have to or it will smell really bad.
Holy crap sixty bucks?
It's worth more then $500.
Shutthefuckup.
You will have to or it will smell really bad.
i'll just open my window
problem solved, my plan still goes ahead as planned
On one hand I'd be frustrated at the fact that there's a pre-order bonus for Skyrim right when I'm somewhere in the middle of France with no access to a credit card, on the other hand I wasn't going to buy it on Steam anyway and I don't really want the Dovahkiin helmet anyway :v:
ITT: MY OPINION IS BETTER THEN YOURS!
anyone know if there are going to be falmer ruins or something?
They need to put up preorders for Collectors Edition. I and many others are still waiting and won't order until we can get the CE.
I dont know if it's been seen yet since I havnt been super active. Was browsing /v/ for leaked RO2 content, and found this.

he looks to be wearing shoulder armour, do you think we can have that in skyrim like we had in morrowind?
the one thing, the VERY ONE THING i want in skyrim is to be able to have mix and match amour like in oblivion i.e. have elven gloves and iron chest piece
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
but mix and match armour looked so bad and wrong... but on the other hand I found it hard to find an entire set anyway.

I wonder what they could be holding off for? They have to know they have a huge following ready and willing to pre-order a collectors edition for this game, not to mention many new fans drawn to the franchise.
but mix and match armour looked so bad and wrong... but on the other hand I found it hard to find an entire set anyway.
but it was so useful! having say.. fire warding armour, and having fortifying weapons and all that jazz
so is everyone just bending over for bethesda because they acting on faith that skyrim will be the second coming?
$60 for a PC game is ridiculous, there is no excuse
Again, why? Do you pay that for console games? Or do you wait for them to drop to $50? If you wait, then just wait with Skyrim.
No shit games cost money to make, but they would still profit 30x the cost of production even if they sold this at 20 bucks, there's absolutely no excuse for the extra 10.
Couldn't you shit out a better excuse ?
Sure, it's better if not more value then the console version paying $60 for a multi platform release with lots of content is fine, your just acting entitled expecting a better game then the previous at zero cost increase, it's ten fucking dollars. The reason literally is, games cost money to make. Seeing as console games are sold at $60 which people accept for some reason, there's no reason games shouldn't be priced across PC and console platforms. I agree that games should not ALL be $60, but that some should be lower but when your getting 300 hours content, +the capability to mod your game you have nothing to complain about.
As for the 20 bucks thing, off of $20 dollars after packaging selling to wholesalers etc, they really would not get that much from it (and yes I acknowledge that when sold digitally they would get more out of $20).
You guys whine like they haven't been overpricing games for both consoles and pc games for the past 3 years or so.
With the new voice actors, I'll no longer have to listen to conversations between characters that go along the lines of
Person 1: Heard any news for the other provinces?
Person 2: Nothing I'd like too talk about
Person 1: *cough*
Person 2: Heard news from the other provinces?
I'm a consumer whore, I purchased this the minute it came on Steam and I'm pretty sure a solid 70% of the people in this thread did the same thing.

You couldn't really mix armor in Oblivion without looking dumb though. Morrowind did it much better, also because some armor came in more variations, like imperial armor.
I'm pretty sure it's confirmed Skyrim will have 4 armor slots, gauntlets, boots, helmet and body (cuirass and greaves has been combined), but there is screenshots of what looks like leather armor with one pauldron and another of the same armor, but with 2 pauldrons so I'm not sure what's up with that. Maybe the armor can be improved like weapons can be sharpened.
[editline]5th August 2011[/editline]
You could also wear dresses over your armor in Morrowind, I really miss that.

NPC: Out-lan-der. What are you do-ing?
Me: ...
Just saw the EBGames AU facebook page post something about a Skyrim Collectors edition.
It was deleted a few seconds after it was posted, but from what I saw, the Collectors edition ( at least, in Australia ) will contain an Alduin statue, an art concept book and a 'the making of' dvd.
I want to believe.
