I'll be honest, I couldn't get into Oblivion or Morrowind. I don't know why. They look like AMAZING games and, god damn it, I KNOW they are. I'm not sure why I couldn't get into Oblivion especially, since it's a huge step up from Morrowind (especially combat). I'm picking up a console on the 24th and with that, I'm going to take a chance with buying Skyrim. I know it won't be a mistake. All these gameplay videos and trailers just look astounding.
If your complaining about the prices in Australia, I would seriously recommend getting the game off of IntKeys. I got it for 26 euro, and its $35. Seriously get it.

I [i]love[/i] Oblivion, and my friend bought me Morrowind GOTY Edition some time ago, and I've only logged about 2 or 3 hours into it. For some reason I just can't get in to it. I feel like I don't know what to do, which baffles me because in Oblivion there was loads of stuff I didn't know about and yet I could have fun just simply walking around and discovering random places. I can't get that same feel in Morrowind though. It could just be that it's older and not as impressive looking as Oblivion, or the fact that the combat sucks. I think it may also just be that it's a bit more complex and the controls can be clunky, where as Oblivion felt a bit smoother to me with a more comprehensive UI.

So Skyrim has Low, Medium, High, Very High, and Default (Console?) graphics levels. Not bad. Most games only have three base settings.

Yeah... The PC version of Skyrim will have Steamworks DRM. Not a bad thing, I guess. Just inconvenient for some.

This is the only game in years which I shared the cost of with my brother. He will have to play on offline mode on my account whenever he wants to play it, but we'll get over it.

Since the 360 leak, lots of people have been disappointed by what they've seen. I've watched footage of leaked gameplay, and I'm even more hyped by it. The graphics look a lot like Fallout 3 except slightly better, sure, but that's more than enough for me. The animations look great, the music is AMAZING, and voices and other sounds are pretty good. Combat looks exciting. I watched someone fight a giant and a mammoth on youtube and I was sitting there, thinking "LOOK OUT! He's coming behind you! OH SHIT YOU'RE GONNA DIE!" etc, because it was so good. YOU CAN'T BRING ME DOWN, DOUBTERS!
Even though it's just preloading it, I still check how far it is, out of pure anticipation.

Can't change third person takedown confirmed. First person takedown are rare, third person takedown are ultra common confirmed. You can't change this in the options confirmed.

Well, having the same " slow-mo " thing like in New Vegas while my character was doing a strange animation ( and sometimes it's buggd, the takedown animation just stop itself in the middle ) in third person was kinda disappointing for me. To be honest.
