Immersion? It's a video game. It's not immersive in any way. You want immersion? Invent virtual reality. Seriously, immersion is not a valid argument when it comes to video games. Just as realism is not valid. Your always going to be aware that you're sitting in your computer/gaming room clicking away.
Ever read a really good book? When you're reading and imagining it you're not aware that you're even reading a book. When I play a really good video game I get sucked into the world. Battlefield 3 isn't really the least bit realistic but it's quite immersive. Subtle effects like camera shakes, full body awareness, and animations for prone to standing transitions all come together to make you feel as if you were there. Even games like Mario have a certain level of immersion. When your focus is on the video game, you can't be aware that you're in a room.

By your logic, ARMA 2 is comparable to a pop-up shooting gallery made in flash.

I remember playing Morrowind 5 hours straight a month or two ago, I ended up making a voice for my character and talking to the npcs on my screen. I didn't even realize I was doing it :ohdear:

didn't they say Skyrim collectors edition also has a making-of DVD

True you don't get a whole lot, but we don't know what the dragon is made out of yet. The material could be expensive. Though I would like another coin. I got the Septim coin, now I want Skyrims coin!
Maybe you'll get some DLCs that'll come with the CE which will be announced in the coming months.
or a dragon dildo rrerr
The 150 dollar CE is probably cheaper than a real dragon dildo. It must suck sitting in a factory making that shit all day. "Son, I heard you got a new job today, what is it?" "I make dragon dildos for lonely neckbeards"

All of this for only about 69 USD ( This polish edition is valued at 189,99 PLN ) I asked myself why do some developers charge so much for so little in collector's editions? Maybe it's because they know their game has a lot of dedicated followers and so they can nickle and dime them for very little.

The book is high quality; as is the map. (It's made of cloth, not paper.) As for the dragon, it's an expensive metalcraft.
The book is high quality; as is the map. (It's made of cloth, not paper.) As for the dragon, it's an expensive metalcraft.
I thought the dragon was PVC, can you provide a source?
The only reason I was holding out for the collectors edition was the soundtrack I was hoping would be included, fuck me sideways.
The dragon is PVC. Not metal. The Cloth map comes with all pre-orders, not just the CE. The art book and Making Of DVD will be copied and seeded within hours of the launch. The dragon? I think I saw one at the mall that looked just like it a few weeks ago. Case in point, you'll be able to get all these things (or at least most of them) after the game is launched, even if you don't buy the CE. In other news, two things. One, I just played some Oblivion (the one I got yesterday), and I'm now really hyped for Skyrim. Two, I'm considering framing my Oblivion map, and doing the same for the Skyrim map when I get it. Probably hang them above my PC. Worth it?

[editline]6th August 2011[/editline]
Maybe you'll get some DLCs that'll come with the CE which will be announced in the coming months.
Nope, you'll still have to pay for the inevitable day 1 DLC. I won't even be surprised if you have to purchase a £10/$10 code to play the game.
It's at least supposed to be a foot tall, and the book is rather nice looking. But still, it's $60 for the game and cloth map(if you pre-order). Or $150 for game, cloth map, PVC Statue, making-of DVD, and Art Book. So $90 for a Statue, art book and making-of DVD. I don't own a coffee table(to leave the book on), nor do I watch those kind of DVDs. So for me, it be $90 for statue.
It won't be a cloth map if you're ordering the boxed vanilla - it's just a paper map. Edit: Actually, I *am* wrong - premium map's a preorder bonus.
If i pre purchase it through steam, will I get the premium stuff or do I have to buy a boxed copy? Because I fucking love the excellent service of steam and would happily pay another 5-10 € for it, but I do want a badass metal crafted dragon with an awesome cloth map of skyrim. Wat do?

If Steam offered selling physical collectors items and/or gaming goods to be delivered to your front door for an additional nominal fee, I would squeal like a little school girl. No, the valve store does not count as it only holds their own games. I mean Steam itself being a store portal like Amazon for lots of game companies to showcase their products in.

Isn't there a premium edition? I just want the art book, making of dvd & the cloth map.
I just saw the CE in the Notch vs. Bethesda thread and was really disappointed.
Is that really the fucking collector's edition? God dammit. I don't want a fucking statue. I can't do anything with a fucking statue. Adding a statue ramps up the price a good 20 to 40$ for some shit I don't want and or need. Not only that but it's a statue of a god damn dragon? Really? I would have no fucking clue that had anything to do with Skyrim other than "Derp dragons!". I was really looking forward to their CE since the last Bethesda games have had such excellent editions, but holy shit do I hate useless CE statues.
Seriously. Oblivion you get a sweet ass box, a guide to Cyrodiil, a making of DVD with a fuckton of art, an actual Septim, plus all the other standard goodies. Fallout 3 you get a god damn Vault-Tec lunch box, a vault-boy bobble head, a measly art book, and a making of DVD. New Vegas you get a really nice box, a great hardback comicbook, chips for all the major casinos, a metal platinum chip, a deck of Caravan cards with all major characters on them and representing all the casinos, and a making of DVD. Those are awesome Collectors Editions. And all of them were at or under 80$. This would be a good CE if they had included something else instead of the fucking statue. Because the statue drives the price up a good $50-60 or so dollars, and it's all for something I can't do anything with. Not only that it's made out of fucking PLASTIC.
I'll find it wierd to have Geralt's head in my room, I'll choose Skyrim.

I'm gonna pass on the CE..$150 is unjustifiable for a game, making of, book and a plastic statue..

Well, crap. I think I'll wait till it comes out in stores and I'll buy the "normal" version. As long as it has a map!
