I just realized that Skyrim is being released on Veteran's Day, which means it's going to be out when I've got a 3 day weekend.
I sent an email to G2play to see if they know for certain that it wasn't steamworks/steam redeemable
Me: Has it been confirmed that it doesn't use steamworks or will not be steam redeemable G2P: Unfortunately we dont have any info about TES Skyrim on steam.
Very quick reply I assume it's automated
I liked the part where he clipped through the dragon's mouth
Can't wait to begin playing. Only a few months left.
TBH the combat looks pretty boring (atleast blades) LoDs still look pretty damn funky, and it still looks pretty unpolished for it being this close to release. Still going to buy it anyway because I've always been able to look past the ridiculous amount of faults Bethesda games have and enjoy the game
It's an improvement on Oblivion.
anything is better than oblivion's combat
It's an improvement on Oblivion.
Oblivion isn't a great game in the first place so it's really not that hard to improve on anything with a little bit of effort.
I was watching the footage again, and I noticed something odd

Oblivion isn't a great game in the first place so it's really not that hard to improve on anything with a little bit of effort.
get out.
Oblivion isn't a great game in the first place so it's really not that hard to improve on anything with a little bit of effort.
The only way you could seriously say this is if you just played it for the first time in the last year. It was one of the most amazing games ever made when it released over five years ago.

I like Oblivion, but if it isn't good now that doesn't mean we should put on Nostalgia goggles.
Then it should still be good now. No nostalgia here.
I'm playing it right now, and I love it. Sure, it's no Morrowind, but it's a standard Elder Scrolls game. And I'm sure Skyrim will be somewhere between Morrowind and Oblivion.
the crowd in that 30 minute video were really annoying

[editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
the crowd in that 30 minute video were really annoying
I don't know, I kinda liked it. :v:

EX: Half Life, Morrowind, Quake, Counter Strike 1.6, etc. I'm getting some strong "graphics whore" vibes from you, mate. Please, for your sake and mine, prove me wrong.
It makes me sad that it doesn't look like they improved horses too much. In Oblivion horses just felt clunky to me... I blame Red Dead Redemption :( They need to work with R* on the horses. lol.
In Oblivion horses just felt clunky to me...
mainly because everything in Oblivion felt clunky
When I got Oblivion in 2006, it was the most amazing game I had ever seen. I never played any Elder Scrolls before, so everything was brand new. For it's time, it was amazing. It has aged HORRIBLY though, so it is only natural for a bandwagon to form.
It has aged HORRIBLY though, so it is only natural for a bandwagon to form.
do you have any idea what bandwagon means I'm expressing my opinion not jumping on some gay bandwagon
mainly because everything in Oblivion felt clunky
True, but the Horses stood out the most for me. Considering there was a lot of land to travel and Horses are the only real transportation method without Fast Traveling, they just weren't proper. I just hope the horses feel better in Skyrim then it seems in the presentations.
When I got Oblivion in 2006, it was the most amazing game I had ever seen. I wouldn't say the clunkiness ruins the amazing status at all, but if it WASN'T clunky it would have far surpassed amazing.
About the UI, I can understand wanting a minimalist one, but does it have to be literally all over the fucking god damn screen? Hopefully it will be easy to edit / mod it

I'm just saying don't say it's always better because it's older.
the crowd in that 30 minute video were really annoying
I'd have been cheering as well.
I don't think they have swimming animations working all the way yet. He just barely stepped into the river then turned around and ran away when we were chanting "Water" :v:

Should I buy Skyrim for $42 and wait 1-2 weeks for it to be delivered or pay $90 and get it the night it is released?
