I'd love to hear more of Sean Bean. maybe my character's voice could be Sean Bean's. then I'd have a sexy voice while killing those scaley motherfuckers.
I still love how a lot of people from [del]Something Awful[/del] certain other forums of questionable reputation on FP are still whining about how everything is scripted and won't be in the actual game. See, I might have agreed with that about 4-5 years ago, but most of the stuff that they've showcased is actually quite viable nowadays. One of the main reasons that Oblivion failed to live up to all of it's hype was that all of the claims were incredibly far-fetched at the time, they were trying to do too much, too soon.
I went back and watch the "Making of" videos for Oblivion. Haha, it was literally a bunch of nerds jizzing over their own content. The girl who animated the horses was talking about how she preferred animating four-legged animals as opposed to humans (she was obsessed with horses). And then there was some nerdy chick who obviously didn't have any friends who coded for AI and shit like that and she said the NPCs were like her kids. I just thought it was so funny. There was also the one guy who made all of the dungeons... He was OBSESSED with dark and damp and dead things. No wonder why every dungeon uses the same elements over and over again. Although this guy does have a wife and kids so he is at least a bit normal. Yep... It seems like they just got the biggest (albeit talented) losers from the nearest highschools and got them to work on oblivion. I don't judge, haha, they did okay for being complete creeps. At least this time around they have a larger team with more diverse people. (That's why I think it's so easy for game devs to over-hype their games; They are creating the things they love, their fantasy, and it may not be perfect but they end up filling the gaps with their imagination, making it seem so amazing and real.)
Also, after going back and watching through the presentation again, I can't believe Todd was able to put up with the crowd. Yeah, it is pretty natural for just about everyone to want to be a complete asshole in the game (Especially since it was so fun in Oblivion), but if I was presenting a game like that and someone shouted "Rape!" just because I walked past a female NPC (followed by the rest of the crowd laughing), I'd probably just shut off the console and walk off the stage.
I completely agree with you on this. They were acting like children. I could understand 13-15 year-olds acting like that, but I mean c'mon! These were full grown adults restlessly heckling at Todd Howard with immature and unfunny remarks. I would want to present to people that would appreciate what I am showing them and to be respectful. I can understand them getting excited and I know that sometimes I can be quite immature, but this was a high privilege and they should have respected Todd a lot more. I give Todd props for putting up with their bullshit.
Are there any working links to the video left? They've been pulled down left and right.
Are they going to have a celebrity cameo in this game?
I honestly hope not. If you go on IMDb and check the cast list for Fallout 3 and New Vegas you'll see dozens of famous/semi-famous actors. It's distracting to hear a character speak with the voice of a famous actor. Plus a huge portion of the budget goes to voicework, so having 40 famous actors you have to pay a big amount of money each (depending on amount of lines) get's really expensive. Which is why they should have a few famous voices, then instead of wasting money on hotshots they could probably hire 150 complete unknowns for the same price. People who are good, but has never done any professional work etc. It would add a huge amount of variety instead of having one actor voice 5-10 characters.
Are they going to have a celebrity cameo in this game?
I'd like to see Maiq the Liar return. I don't care if he's been dead for two centuries.
I'd like to see Maiq the Liar return. I don't care if he's been dead for two centuries.
Maiq the Imposter?
Bethesda needs to release more information. Three months before release and we haven't even seen a single Argonian, Bosmer or High-Elf.
Argonian -> Only the picture that was "probably" the Argonian. Bosmer -> Rewatch the trailer High Elf -> Argeed.
I'd like to see Maiq the Liar return. I don't care if he's been dead for two centuries.
Would be awesaom if Mai'q becomes a friendly zombie hidden in a random Dungeon every time you play through it.
Will you be able to rob people's houses in this game like you could in Oblivion?
Will you be able to rob people's houses in this game like you could in Oblivion?
Wouldn't make sense if you couldn't.
No they thought skyrim was too fun so they removed basic theivery.

reminds me of the other day I broke into the jewelry store and stole everything, something bugged out and the shop owner came downstairs. he greeted me with a hearty hello and I discussed the imperial city and the gray fox with him, then I just walked out of the shop :frogbon:

Daily, etc. People who really know what they're doing and can provide a much more immersive dialogue without costing anywhere near as much as some of the more famous actors.
I think you folks are exaggerating how much it actually costs to use a celebrity for a few lines of dialogue
I don't know why you're saying "get", you should probably be using "got" I'm sure the voice acting and stuff like that will be finished by now. My guess is that they're just polishing models and animations and maybe tweaking notes and books.
I hope they remove that ridiculous red hand from stolen loot. I can understand not selling stolen items back to the owner or to nearby stores, but how can the weapon seller in another town tell the difference between a sword taken from a dead bandit and the same sword stolen from a store?

"Oh, I'm sorry, but I can't take this torch from you for free because you stole it."
I always wondered the same thing. "Oh, I'm sorry, but I can't take this torch from you for free because you stole it."
Morrowind did it right. Can't sell bac to them what you stole of them.
Are they going to have a celebrity cameo in this game?
Max Von Sydow
I know I'll be a bit late here but I just watched the video, I'm so glad to see the dark brotherhood has been confirmed, looks like it'll be introduced in a similar way as oblivion, I'm guessing after murdering someone they send you that letter saying "we know" not too sure how it will pan out form there though. Glad to hear my favourite faction will be returning!
Morrowind did it right. Can't sell bac to them what you stole of them.
No, Morrowind didn't do it right, if they don't know you took it why would they assume that you stole it after you tried to sell them an identical item? Played "Twinkle twinkle, little star" on the 6th House bells, it was creepy.
Good god I haven't been this excited for a game for a looooooooonnnnggg time. I love it. And I know this isn't the right thread, but the other elder scrolls thread is dead. I just installed nehrim for oblivion, but the half aeterna race doesn't work, their head is a huge diamond or something. Anyone know a fix?
Just pre-ordered today, can't wait.
