I'd rather have Steam Cloud support, I couldn't really care about achievements.
Cloud Support is normally included with the "Steamworks" and has both achievements and Cloud.
I hope there is a way to temporarily cast a spell on your weapon with your other hand & elemental slash the enemy with it.
As we have seen on the video, fire spells now come with flamethrower attack type. It would be amazing if we can enchant arrows with that type of spell.
Am I the only one who did not give even a small fuck about the animations in Oblivion? Then again I never played in third person since dungeons and buildings are rather hard to move in with third person.
Back when I first played it, I didn't really notice at all, but they certainly haven't aged well. Everyone's walk cycle is the exact same and it's really stiff, there's not that many animations for neutral human NPCs (Walking, Eating, Drinking, Reading and Talking (Which is basically just putting their hands in front of them while in one of the many awkward NPC-to-NPC conversations)), and what animations there are have little to no variation. It's just barebones animation for basic human functions, there's no subtlety to the animations at all (Hey, Bethesda animators, you do know that actual people usually move about when in a conversation and don't just stand ramrod stiff and stare at you when talking, right?). The upper and lower parts of humanoid bodies also feel really disjointed for some reason.
Again, back then, nobody really cared too much, but it looks really awkward now. Luckily, they seem to have fixed a lot of the problems with the animations in Skyrim, as it looks like there's some actual fluidity and variation in the animations as a whole. I actually remember someone summing up Oblivion's graphics as "It looks great, until it starts moving", which thankfully doesn't seem to be the case with Skyrim.
On a side-note: If you all want to kill some time with some hilarity from the gooniest goons in history (And also love Godwin's Law), go and read the Something Awful thread on Skyrim, where everyone compares Todd Howard to Hitler because he blatantly overhyped Oblivion, and everyone gets into massive internet arguments over the most minor shit you could ever imagine as if they were in the comments section of a Youtube video or something. Seriously, I am having a blast reading it.

I don't know why, but the elemental attacks seem rather weak.
Either from the player or NPCs. And the Dragons didn't seem to dangerous, even though the test player was at level 34.
I hope they have an actual working difficulty slider.
EB site had the CE sold out.
I called the local store, they still have it, so upgraded my preorder.
Fuck yeah.

The thing i'm most excited about is combining spells. Fireball + Ice bolt = Microwave spell. Making their head pop like grape.

In Oblivion all you did was fart the same looking recolored spells out of your hand for an unsatisfying "woosh" sound.
In skyrim you can shoot lightning from your fingers like Emperor Palpatine or turn your hand into a flamethrower. That's a pretty big improvement.

It was definitely invincible. If you look at the players health it was at 999/999.

Sadly, this is not the case. While you can combine two of the same spell, you cannot combine two different spells.
It'll be fixed with mods after launch, though.
Bought Oblivion recently to play about. In my opinion, the VO is unforgivably horrid, then animations are reminiscent of Second Life (I sat down in the chair in the jail cell in the beginning of the game, was hilarious), and a lot of the models and gameplay elements are... interesting.
All in all, the game is great though. Love the open-ness of the game. And all the mods.
The only thing that actually made me mad about the game was the lack of mods for male models. My god I've never seen so many boobs and asian faces.
EDIT:
Oh and Coop would have been a nice addition. Something similar to Fable 3 (or a little more open). People say multiplayer takes away from story development, but the story couldn't have been much worse :v:.
There are never too many boobs and asian faces.
I've been playing the shit out of Oblivion the past few days after seeing the last gameplay video. Modded to look a little more current, of course.

Wasn't talking about the effects. I'm talking about how they looked like they didn't do much damage to the enemies.

Apparently there's a third one.
My older brother came over today and told me about the permanent enchantment glitch in Oblivion... *Angels Singing*
I restarted as a Redguard (level 4 I think, just finished the arena quests), but then I decided "Fuck that shit!" and went back to my level 27 argonian with access to the Arcane Universitor (And all of the other guild stuff, including DB :h:)
Now I can cast all the cool spells and carry all the stuff I want! Hahaha
I'm walking around with 100% Chameleon fucking peoples' shit and training the magic skills that I haven't mastered yet. I love this game.
Skyrim BETTER have 100% Chameleon or at least something similar. I love the feeling of being untouchable...
The only reason I ever started using it is because I think I did something wrong and my mage Argonian didn't have shit for magicka (100 Int and Will, hardly ANY magicka reserves wtf?). I hope I can have excessive amounts of magicka in Skyrim without exploiting.

Judging by the videos I posted earlier, I don't think they do, let alone having actually experienced a conversation with an living person.

Fair enough. I think this is the only game series I know that is literally designed by massive nerds, for massive nerds. Even the goddamn lead developer sounds like a squeaky pubescent teen, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I agree with you. I love Todd Howard, he is my little nerd lover.
On a side note- I am trying to teach myself dragon language. I only have a couple words memorized.
I could have copy-pasta'd but take my word for it, it's from memory:
Ok ved vokun meyz wah win kein.
It would be so much easier if they had conjugation, I know it seems like it would be harder but my mind understands it better than just simple linguistics like this. Gender roles can stay away, they are stupid, glad English got rid of them.

Shit dude what are you doing you totally could've killed us all right there

They probably have all the bells and whistles of the English language in, uh, dragonese, but dovahkiin is probably just yelling shit like ROCK FIRE LIGHTNING
FIRE PUNCH SUPREME
STORM ANGER DAMAGE
He doesn't really "speak" the language, just yells some words
Anyone got that comic where the dragon shouts "FUCK YOU" & Dovah'kin shouts back "No, FUCK YOU!"
Never minnd, found it...

Seemed appropriate.

I also have the face in the last panel as my steam avatar.
I played a total of 11 hours in Oblivion and I fucking love it.
Gonna get Skyrim for sure.
Total of 11 hours? That's so damn much! I think my sister has like 120 hours on her SECONDARY character.
15 hours on my first character now, going to the ruins of that city so we can do the thing to get into that paradise place (which I guess is where I kill mankar cameron and get the amulet back, then everything is finished)
but I want to make a mage, how long is the rest of the main story? I'd be happy to finish the main quests and then make a mage for a second playthrough and do a lot more of the side quests
Aww yeah, just pre-purchased this bad boy.

You've got a good 3 hours of gameplay left if you just do the story.
