This game is surprisingly difficult. The only bullshit bit is when you clearly have half health, and your enemy is only dong portions of your health, but once it goes below fifty everything seems to be a onehit kill.

Dunno if bad luck or what.

You turn the lockpick until you hear a louder, constant jingling. Then you use A to turn it. If it stops, adjust a little, try again. If your lockpick breaks it will remain in the same place, so if you accidentally sacrifice one, it's no big deal. If you aren't getting the sound that is a bug, so just try your luck- move the lockpick about in the hole as you press A now and then, that will help you at least find its general area.

I can't tell you anymore because the system is so basic and I've already let it become tedious but I'm too busy playing the game to press backspace a few times. I am addicted

Dunno if bad luck or what.[/QUOTE]I don't know why the devs thought it'd be a good idea to allow NPCs to just do insta-kill events that you can't escape. They just sort of happen and you can't run away or block- the moment the NPC begins his animation you are already fucked.

I seem to be able to do it really well. As in I'll get an expert open in under 5 picks no problem (a master took me about 10-15), and I haven't invested anything into lockpicking.

I'll see if I actually have a method or I'm just crazy good at guessing.

The mask is pretty bugged though. Sometimes it won't give you the +29 to armor or if you have it equipped and switch to a different hood or whatever it will add the hood's armor too.
