does anybody have a save as they're leaving the sewers at the start of Oblivion? I'd love to skip all of the tutorial bullshit and just re customize my character and get out
Gamesradar's play time with Skyrim apparently let them play as an Argonian, but I wanted to see PICTURES OF IT. Or at least a video.
So I'm playing Arena. Choosing Warrior, Male from Skyrim. Then suddenly

I find this set of armor in the beginner sewers. Nice

But that's not how dragon shouts work...

ARTISTIC LICENCE!
I wish they'd show more variety in the player character. Because at this point, going on promotional material alone, I'm going to be playing a white guy in the same viking armor and the whole point of the game is yelling at dragons and hitting them with my sword.
Obviously there's a fuckton more to it than that, but I'd like to see some variety in terms of armor and character before release. I don't want another repeat of Fable 3's total of six armors in the whole game and two generic main character options.
They're probably just trying to not spoil the game - they've basically just been showing the same items and area's over and over again.

So GAME won't be having pre-order cloth map. feels bad.
Anyone confirmed that US Amazon's "premium" map is the cloth map?

Probably trying to avoid how they did it with New Vegas, where they showed off every new weapon before release and caused the game to be pretty dull

Except the game wasn't dull at all, and seeing all the guns wouldn't be a very good reason for it to be dull

Besides, that's a different development studio, obsidian made New-Vegas, not Bethesda (sp?)

Bethesda were the publishers, meaning they did most of the adverticing for the game and such. Plus, it DID dull the game down, cause it felt like I had already done it all, even though I had just SEEN it.
What I mean is it would be way cooler to experience finding them for the first time on my own, not knowing what it did etc.

Do what I did.
Restrict information on yourself. I only saw the teaser and a blurry picture with 9mm pistol and some nightstalkers.
Bought it. Got wowed.

I'm sure we go over this every four or five pages...

That's true, I really really loved New Vegas and heard almost nothing about it prior to release.
Come to think of it there hasn't been a game that I loved that I'd heard anything about before playing it. Hype seems to kill games for me, ugh cutting off all Skyrim information.

That might be the reason why they recycled already seen environments for the quakecon showing.
Keep them guessing.
I remember how I only saw a small bit of footage from New Vegas and thought it looked like nothing but an expansion pack, and not a very good one (Mostly because I was somewhat expecting them to try to go back to the style of the old Fallout games).
I then bought it during one of the Steam sales, and it became one of my favourite games ever :v:
But yeah, on the topic of them re-using the same areas for their footage, I actually like that a lot better than if they were to show a lot of the game. The Quakecon presentation was great, because it was an uncut video of Todd essentially just showing off some of the new improvements in Skyrim. No quick cuts to different features or anything, just "Hey, here's the game, here's what we're trying to improve" and that's about it. They left everyone wanting more, but everyone was still satisfied. So it's not as cheap as quick cuts, but it's also not overstuffed with information.
I'm also happy that they're showing a bit more constraint with their advertising this time. With Oblivion, they basically went "DYNAMIC DYNAMIC RADIANT RADIANT REALISM IMMERSION DYNAMIC" because they really desperately wanted to push the envelope, and ended up overhyping the hell out of the game. Todd was reaching Peter Molyneux levels of bullshit with his far-fetched claims. However, unlike Peter, Todd seems to be slowly-but-surely learning to back down a little. He's still making some far-fetched claims, but they aren't nearly as forced or as plentiful as they were with Oblivion.
just finished Oblivion, going to bed for 24 hours 14 times now so I can get my badass armour
[editline]9th August 2011[/editline]
and somebody said it would take 3 hours, heh, it only took 2
Did anyone, by any chance, save the ~40min gameplay video from Youtube before it was taken down?
oh wait, it's in the op, at least a part of it. durrp
17 Hours and 32 Minutes played.
Now I'm going to get my moneys worth and make another character, do all of the expansions and stuff. I bought the GoTY Edition, so I should have Knights of the Nine and whatever else preinstalled, correct?
Shivering Isles was quite boring in my opinion. Sheogorath's VA made my ears bleed and I used movetoqt most of the time to get to the targets.
Still have to be named Hortator by 2 more Great Houses, and still got to prove that I'm the Nerevarine even though I have a ring that proves that I am the Nerevarine... Is there a mod or something to shove the ring in the faces of the Ashkhans or something because I don't want to have to use the console to get past the quests and I'm too lazy to be their little errend bosmer. Atleast getting proclaimed Hortator by the Great Houses makes sense as a trial as the Hortator has nothing to do with the Nerevarine prophecy.

Was Sheogorath the character who talked about cheese? That's all I remember about Shivering Isles.
Sheogorath was so great, with his accent and his beard and his eyes and his suit and his teleporting you miles above the Isles if you attack him.
saw this on the skyrim trailer as top comment.
You should have pre-ordered. It's already here. Bethesda told of its return. It's delay, was merely due to Fallout. For the time after Oblivion was released. When the game called 'Skyrim' would show its own graphics. But* no one wanted to believe; believe it* was even in development. And when the game finally comes out, it comes out in November! Now, there's* one that BF3 and CoD will fear: On our platforms, it's called Elder Scrolls: SKYRIM
made me smile
Has there been any word on the end game yet? By that I mean if they dare pull a Fallout 3/New Vegas and make it so you can't play after the last story mission I will be pissed.
I bought Oblivion game of the year ages ago and still haven't played Shriving Isles.
