What the fuck is this shit. Why do my vehicles just randomly fucking explode for no reason. I was flying a jet in Caspian border and then out of fucking nowhere KABLAMO. My jet exploded, I was greeted with a "bad luck" screen and even my friends and teammates were asking how the fuck I just died.
[editline]21st December 2011[/editline]
If I remember the TV missiles bounced off vehicles and did fuck nothing damage. You could hit a tank head on and it would bounce off and fly into the air instead.
[editline]21st December 2011[/editline]
Then people would just camp in remote areas of the map and gain points for doing absolutely nothing.
Vehicles, especially jets and helis, have a tendency to explode randomly from a small lagspike, your player hitbox will be briefly, a tenth of a second, in front of the vehicle, and it will almost simulate flying into a titanium wall.
Jump out of a jeep at full speed on a laggy server and you will notice that you jump out a bit in front, causing you to get run over by your own car.
It's the same thing.
No it says suicide

Couldn't they make it not collide with itself? Guess it's completely up to how the hit detection is actually coded I guess.
Did you hit any sort of wire, pole, tree, or floating object? Did you fly near the large antenna?
Was high enough to the point where the trees/telephone poles would have to be stacked ontop of each other numerous times to reach me, I wasn't anywhere near the giant antenna.
I quickly looked at the killfeed to make sure I didn't hit a plane but there was no "so and so suicide/is no more" that appeared.
I agree. I generally find it not very fun to play when I'm winning that well either. It's like, whatever I do doesn't matter. I could suicide tons of times and waste our precious vehicles, but we'll still win.
IMO it should shuffle squads to different teams, not individual players. Otherwise it would be impossible to play with friends. Of course it's often one communicating top squad that really decides the game but if they get shuffled around you won't lose every time.
Battlefield isn't about KDR.
Having a KDR higher than 1 is still helpful to your team. If it's below 1 you should try to improve it, but if it's 1 or above you are on the positive and that's all that really matters.

My KD is only sub 1 because of launching vehicles into the air. I ended up dying nearly 100 times in one game to replace mines.

That and my C4 addiction.

I didn't really mean it in the manner you see on the website, but as long as you average with more kills than deaths in normal games you're fine
You SHOULD actually try to keep it above 1.5 or be a damn good flag capper.
congrats on caring about a number that 10 people in the world are ever going to see and not even care about

This is what happens when I get a very good helicopter pilot.
49 kills with the viper.
I like pilots that realize their gunner is their main gun, not just a fifty cal hanging from below like the tank turrets.
congrats on caring about a number that 10 people in the world are ever going to see and not even care about
It's not the number, it's the contribution to the victory. If we have someone who is playing support, just shooting dudes and throwing the occasional ammo pack, he is most likely a detriment to the team if he dies more than he kills. This doesn't really apply to medics or engies as they have very specific jobs that net a lot of points (and medics are usually #1 on the scoreboard anyway).
Spot system feels glitchy as hell.
I spot a guy, he dies by someone else, I don't get any points for it.

You know you are piloting well when every time you get in the venom the pilot switches seats to let you fly.
Had a great round, my score was shit as per usual being a venom pilot.
Battlefield isn't about KDR.
How isn't it? TDM, Conquest, and Rush all rely on maintaining a better KDR than the enemy. A death uses a ticket and a kill uses one of their tickets. The only scenarios where personal KDR doesn't matter is if you are capping a shitload of flags, or rezzing constantly.

you won't win conquest or rush with a good KDR because they require you to actually do something, sure you mustn't try to die but that not the objective at hand
TDM might, rush and CQ is about getting all of the objectives and holding them untill the round ends.
The objective of both sides in CQ is to drain the enemy tickets before they drain yours and the best way to go about that is killing. Unless you are in a unique position where your team isn't killing everyone yet consistently holds the most points, the prime ticket removal will be done with kills because of the low rate of ticket loss that occurs from holding flags. Rush for the defenders involves draining enemy tickets, which is done purely by killing them. This requires the attackers to maintain a better KDR than their enemy since their enemy has no tickets to worry about, while also pushing the MCOMs.
If flags in conquest mattered more I'd agree with your use of semantics but killing and being killed yourself are the biggest contributors to ticket gain/loss respectively in 9 out of 10 games.
you won't win conquest or rush with a good KDR because they require you to actually do something, sure you mustn't try to die but that not the objective at hand
No one said that's not the objective, I was arguing that Battlefield isn't about KDR fullstop. It's a very important part of most of the game modes and the primary objective of a couple others. That said most games of conquest are decided by kills and deaths rather than flag captures unless, as I said above, you are in one of those unique scenarios where one team is capping all flags but not getting a lot of kills out of it. Generally though if your team controls 4 out of 5 flags consistently through the game you are going to win anyway. To say nothing of the fact that people who cap flags a lot are generally players who get decent KDR's anyway.

Um, flag bleed is incredibly fast, especially when you're playing with default ticket counts.
Nearly every conquest game I play, the winning team is at around 50% of initial tickets when the enemy team loses, and both sides have fairly similar kills. The flags bleed a LOT.

Kills taken alone don't really say anything though.
That said, as I already stated, obviously when two teams are evenly balanced in regards to KDR but the other team is capping flags then the flag capturing was the principle mechanism to victory, but this only happens in games where one team controls most flags consistently through the game but isn't getting a better KDR, which is fairly rare; the team capping (and holding) the most points ends up getting a better KDR anyway due to spawntrapping.
That said ticket bleed is still slower than killing in most maps and conditions.
