Look, there is nothing wrong with sniping by itself
What is wrong, is when you decide to snipe, only getting maybe 1 kill every 2-4 minutes, while the entire enemy team has captured all the points, and you set yourself up on some far corner of the map with absolutely no goal but sh00t teh dud3z
If you want to snipe, then snipe well - set yourself up in posisitons that are actively beneficial to your team (i.e. on a point you need to cap and have a good view of enemy threats like engineers taking out tanks), don't just sit in the same spot (be on the move as the battle progresses), and ideally work with your squad to cover them.
That's how you get to be a good sniper. Sometimes though, ditch the sniper gun and get something closer range for when you really need to cap points. Nothing is worse than a team that is half-sniper and has zero control over points.
The only time I feel like sitting back, drinking coffee and sniping is a good idea is when you already have point control and you are a good enough shot to reliably kill people. Even then you should always be on the move.
I try to level up the sniper but I usually give up after the first tank.

We took the boat as the Russians behind the hill on the TV Station. Then we capped it while simultaneously mowing down a metric ton of enemies. Then we capped everything and gained world domination. It was the best.

Yeah, and while we're talking about details I like how you can spot every piece of gear on every soldier. On this screenshot for example you can spot C4 and his sidearm.

Color grading downtuned, better post anti aliasing, less visible vignette (black frame effect) and richer colors.
I've uploaded the files if someone wants to try BF3 with my FXAA-settings. Disable the in-game post anti aliasing first though if you're using it.
Throw everything in your main BF3 directory.

You can also spot the equipment on vehicles like reactive armor and the missiles for helis/apc/jets.
useful for when to know if you can suicide bomb a tank or not

You have to unlock it by using the original m320. It unlocks at 20 kills.

highest level on our team was about level 30
lowest on the other team was about 16, but over half were prestiged or whatever. It was horrible.

Spot assists are easy to get, Just spot every enemy you see. Even if you plan on killing them.
