I once somewhere heard that one of the crew which were to take the astronauts out of a capsule fainted (or something like that) because the smell inside the capsule :v:
[editline]22nd July 2011[/editline]
Don't know if this real or anything though, I don't know where I heard it.
So, I've made it to 1500 km with my original rocket, and I've tweaked it countless times but nothing seems to help. I've noticed you guys have a relatively low (200-300) over ground top speed, while mine gets to around 500.
I'll get a picture of it in a moment.

This is my first time getting out of atmosphere.
Pretty good i think.
Also still going but I'm going to stop it now.

Top gun theme probably makes good orbit music, I wish I could find out.

Was you using extra command modules or the yaw master module? As the game seems to kill the crew if any command module is destroyed (it treats the yaw master like a command module for some reason).
The game runs fairly well on my netbook, except there's no scroll wheel. Is there some alternative way to control the camera height in the vehicle building area without using a scroll wheel?
Well, still haven't managed to make it past 1500k.
I'll keep trying I suppose. Any way to separate stages? I had 2 stages with 6 solid boosters each, but they all fired at the same time because of the whole side decouplers not being treated as new stages.
HarvesteR, in the hope that you're reading this I want to urge you to do a couple of things with your explosion particles. I know that eye candy would be pretty far down the list of things to do, but this is a relatively simple addition and has a huge visual impact. I've even gone as far as to make some MS paint doodles for you <3
My first request is that you make particle emitters inherit the velocity of their creator.
Consider the following scenario: You have poorly made rocket that on launch, breaks in half with one end slamming into the ground and the other overheating and exploding in the air.
It'd probably look like this.

Now consider what happens when you have the particle emitters from the explosion inherit the velocity of the exploding part they were created by:

It looks a whole lot more spectacular. Oh yeah, they should bounce aswell. That way when you slam into the ground instead of the debris going through the earth and dissapearing, its thrown upwards with about the same force as the rocket hit the ground, just like an actual impact.
My second request is that you make the emitter's velocitys be affected by nearby explosions.
This makes it so when you have an enormous rocket on the pad suddenly combust as it tries to take off, instead of a condensed cloud of black semi-transparent lag you have a spectacular explosion that is automatically scaled to then number of peices that broke.
On the left is what currently happens, on the right is what should happen:

And if I'm right, the explosion on the right is actually less intense on FPS because it still uses the same number of particles and they arent rendered over the top of each other.
I emailed them reguarding this about a week ago, didn't get a reply :(
i know that this has been done to death, but holy shit I just cant stop myself cracking up whenever I see this

I made a ship that can get into orbit and then land using a rocket and not parachutes.

I always found it hard to land like that without destroying everything but my command pod.
You haven't seen a bit of it yet.
I literally have an entire book dedicated to the worst aircraft designs ever. This is one of them:

Strap rockets onto that thing and you get most Rockets made in KSP nowadays.
It would have been a brilliant design if they ever managed to get a tow aircraft powerful enough.
I mean you only need to use the tactic once or twice to utterly ruin the German understanding of military tactics. The first time they assault a weakly defended position and are driven back by TANKS gliding onto the battlefield, their morale is going to go through the floor.

It fell apart, but didn't explode.

JEB IS THE PILOT
This game has had a huge launch and now the thread is dieing. It is awesome how fast the developer is working and just hope he doesnt get lazy like notch. I think the next thing he should add is a purpose other than getting into space or trying to orbit the planet. The easiest thing would be to add a moon to have people land on the moon and then try to make a return mission home.

Or, if it isn't too hardware-intensive, make the world persistent, so debris ejected from earlier projects still orbits in later journeys. This would allow people to make de-facto space stations and satellites.
It would need some way of resetting it though, obviously.
It's slowed down because the pace of the updates has slowed down and nothing particularly new or interesting has been added recently. It will pick up again when .9 comes out and REALLY explode when the moon and space stations are released.

If crashes left some form of wreckage, and its position was saved that would be incredible. The launch pad surface remains clean though, so you can still take off. I think that would be a very very nice part of any campaign that's made in the future.
But before that, we really need the collidable area's size multiplied tenfold. Something more than a kilometer from you (laterally) will sink through the terrain. A detached engine should still be able to crash into the planet reguardless of where you are relative to it. So we don't get floating wreckage when the terrain LOD updates the models vertical position could just be updated to match the new height of the surface its on.
I haven't been near a computer for a week. What've I missed KSP-wise?

Nothing besides people starting to say its dead.
I love this game and I'm really excited at what this could become.
Space Stations will be awesome.
I started working on a plane parts pack. My modeling abilities aren't the best, so don't expect much. :v:
It will mostly be different shaped wings. (There will definitely be a part to attach multiple wings on top of each other for making biplanes.)
I'll try to make some jet engines too. They'll probably work in space too, because I don't know how to make them less efficient at higher altitudes.
I may make a cockpit capsule too, but it would require you to replace the current one.

it would be pretty cool if you can save progress. Be able to have multiple craft in orbit and make a spacestation yourself through several rockets (making new rockets to carry more material for the station)
It'd be cool if you could use a realistic design to actually get into space but apparently not.
Well, whenever he adds something big, for instance, a moon, this game will be back to life in no time.

In soviet Russia, you crush morale AND beat the A-team doing it
