Well look who it is!
I cant wait for 0.9
Strut connectors and input mapping.
And possibly a new terrain engine.
strut?
To keep from wobbling.

It’s a new part called Strut Connector. It will be the first of a new kind of part I’m calling Compound Parts.
We’re all aware that the ship consists of a tree-like structure, where the command pod is the main node, and everything else are children of it. That’s how hierarchical links work.
But this has a serious limitation, in which there can only be a single attachment point between any 2 parts. And some parts are really large, and that single point of contact will cause everything to wobble.
How to fix it? Strut Connectors.
The Strut Connector is actually two parts. You place the first one (attached as winglets are), and immediately after you get a second part to attach. Once both parts are connected, a structural beam is created between them.
This way, each side of the strut belongs to a different part of the hierarchy, but there is a physical link between them, allowing you to ‘brace’ your ship to create a more sturdy structure.
Strut Connectors are smart enough to know that if any side becomes detached from the ship, it should break the structural linkage, to let the ship go free. This will only happen on a controlled separation, so if a decoupler breaks for some reason, you’re stuck to a useless part of the ship
And since Strut Connectors are connected by surface attachment, it’s required you already have both sides you want to connect in place, so you can’t break the hierarchical chain with it.
Strut Connectors are then Compound Parts. A part that is composed of more than a single object. There might be more opportunities to use this concept later.
I think this will be way more useful right now than a moon. How does it sound?
Joystick support, along with abort button, is hopefully coming in .9 . Yay, now I'll have a use for my X-52.

Fuck yeah can't wait for joystick support.
Fuck yeah can't wait for joystick support.
And input mapping so the camera can be on a hat switch, and the abort button can be the one under the molly cover on a X-52.
Maybe the ability to change the command module, I have an extra one downloaded but no real way to use it as I have to use the default one.
Maybe the ability to change the command module, I have an extra one downloaded but no real way to use it as I have to use the default one.
just make a backup of the mk1pod folder, and replace the model in mk1pod with the CM model that you want.

Yeah that works, but it would be nice to be able just to just press a button in game.
Space race to a different planet or moon would be interesting as a sort of multiplayer thing.

(You have to land and go back and be alive)
This sounds so awesome, but at the same time I realize I would be NEVER able to surive even landing on the planet. I suck so hard. :tinfoil:
Rocket Jousting would be so much win.
Rocket Jousting would be so much win.
Attach some SRB's then let them off the rocket at the right time in a fashion that wont end up exploding in your face and you have yourself a rocket launcher to fire at anyone who stands in the way.

Stand by for Mode 1 Bravo~
Could you maybe upload that rocket? I've been trying for ages to replicate it but I'm having trouble with the first stage.
Does anyone have a good aviation mod?

I was making one, but ran into some trouble importing my models. The one on the forums is decent, and it's supposed to keep getting new parts.
If they did allow us to save the map then space junk could also become a problem and players would need to plan in advance to make sure that any parts that come of their rocket are sent far far away.

Or make sure it burns up in the atmosphere, which is probably easier.
You do realise how big space is right? Even if a piece got stuck in orbit, the odds of it colliding with your ship are seriously low.
At the rate I build and launch rockets the odds would be quite high.

Better call Buy 'n' Large then.
Is there a way to rotate ship parts in the building thingy?

You wont even make it back to Kearth don't worry.

Space debris is a serious concern for Nasa and other organizations, and they actually track "larger" objects.

I never bother with the parachute.

If someone were to get a ship up into space, or even a space station, then blow it up, it'd cause SERIOUS problems for anything attempting to orbit or even launch from earth for a loonngg time.
