Jeb isn't awesome.
There are no words that can describe Jeb.
Jeb is Jeb.
I once knew a man named Jeb
He proved to be quite a pleb
He pulled out a pin
With a face-tearing grin
and the chute came crashing on the safety web.
~Bill Kerman's last written note, found at the crash site.
Does anyone have a gif of one of them screaming?

omg where is your taylor avatar
omg where is your taylor avatar
Replaced with Norway avatar because of the attacks.
[editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
Now it has the Taylor avatar above it with 10% opacity. Happy? :v:

Nevermind, it's in the link.
Aw shit.
What mods are you using?
Looks like sunday punch and SIDR.
Also, larparnar, try using the linear strut decouplers to attach the solids. They're a lot more sturdy than the lateral decouplers you're using in that shot, so it may prevent them from ripping the rocket apart.
Nevermind, I tested it and while they are more sturdy (the solids don't bend in toward the center, as they do in your images), activating the entire bottom stage still tears it apart. However, if you replace the solid rocket used for the center lower stage with two long fuel tanks and the small 4 nozzle engine from the SIDR pack, you can ignite the center liquid with the solids without tearing the vehicle apart. That way, the staging is more correct to the real soyuz.

Thought I'd whip this up (At 3'am) to practice using GIMP.
I know the lines are scruffy.
Orbiter III is the first successful orbiter I've made. Sadly it didn't have quite enough fuel left for reentry. Oh well.
I've spent hours fucking about on this.
I think we all did.
Months even.
Ok so I think I have an orbit with a Perigee of about 37km, nothing unusual about that.
But the Apogee is about 3360km.
I'm confused, all the "orbits" I have seen are just people using liquid fuel engines to fly in a circle, is it possible to get into orbit only using gravity?

To be in an orbit you're supposed to turn off your engines yes.

(Which is what I do)

Sounds like a Molniya orbit.

If you're in orbit, your engines shouldn't be on, because if they are, you'll either accelerate enough to reach escape velocity, you'll slow yourself down enough to intersect kearth, or, if you're burning parallel to the ground but perpendicular to your heading, you'll change your orbital inclination.
I never tried making rocket that obviously wouldn't work.
Am I weird?
If numbers and letters can't explain my orbit, maybe this can:

1km = 1 pixel version

Have you guys noticed though that Kearth's atmosphere is very thick compared to it's diameter?
Would be nice if you img thumbed that its too big to see at once. Is the image taken from the game or is it just something you made?

Made it.
Also made this small version:

I want to land on a mood dammit.
I want to land too.
But I don't have more engines.
Using a slightly modified soyuz like the one posted previously, I made an orbit with an apogee of 58,070m and a perigee of 57,705m, which is fairly circular. I also have enough fuel left to change my orbital inclination to anything I want, and after doing so, I'll still have enough fuel to de-orbit.
So beyond just looking cool and accurate, the in-game soyuz is pretty capable. It's not a heavy lifter by any means, though.

That went well!

Post the Craft file?
how do you guys get to space?
I just built my best ship yet. It still won't reach space, but it's gotten higher by far than any other I've built.

It's small and unassuming, but it reaches 371,434 meters in about 10 minutes
[editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
by space, I mean the point where you won't fall back down
