I like to think of it as the three Kerbals feel lonely on their planet and are leaving it searching for some friends, so they don't need a parachute as they will find another space faring population to become friends with.

why am i constantly trying to build nukeular bombers?
I keep making mine so powerful that it breaks apart. :pwn:
My rockets tend to slowly roll over :v:
I have achieved perpetual motion with a simple rocket. I used 3 addon parts. I am at 3576**km(* is changing too fast to read) and moving at a rate of 50km/s. I got there in two hours and eleven minutes. Someone else got close in seven hours? I will let it go overnight and see what happens at 999999km.

I will post the rocket if you want.
Website is down, anyone have a mirror?

You haven't achieved perpetual motion, simply reached escape velocity.
I have been at the same speed for an hour and a half. I ran out of fuel at the 30 minute mark. I have stayed at constant velocity for a while, suggesting no resistance, simply put perpetual motion. I don't want to argue though. I can say that I wonder what is going to happen at 999999.

At 999999 it goes from K to G (or resets, the other letters might be for the next update), don't stay up waiting for it to happen.
Don't worry, I'll be sleeping by then...:tinfoil:

I doubt it will change to g, because I didn't see any white near the bottom of the counter the way I did with it on m

Ignore the stuff in bottom right corner, the computer suddenly decided that windows was unregistered.
So I was looking at the big thing of different rockets earlier, and I do think the Soviet space shuttle looks better than the US one:

But the Soviet answer to the Saturn V is just...
Eww.

It's like they've been playing Kerbal.
"HEY LETS SEE HOW MANY ROCKETS WE CAN SLAP ON THIS THING"
I like how the USSR shuttle was a total rip-off of the US shuttle. I did always love the soviet rockets. All those rockets/thrusters look rad.

Yup, that's a fucking space shuttle on top of a plane.
Only in Russia.
Also in America.

Also all the four N1 test launches exploded.

The second one with the force equal to a small nuke.
Newest experimental build got awesome stage editor, finally... Multi-select, new stage, delete stage...

Oh fuck yeah!
Based on what I know, from the books I've read about Energia/Buran, I'm of the opinion that it could have proven itself to be technically superior to the STS, had it been given the opportunity.
Buran was fully automatic, and was capable of automated landing in extreme crosswinds. The Space Shuttle didn't gain this ability until STS-121, and was retrofitted with it only as a contingency, and it was never used on any STS flight. Buran could orbit and return considerably more mass than the STS. Though it was only ever flown as an unpowered glider, the design was intended to have jet engines, giving Buran the potential for go-around capability. It was intended for a crew of 10 as opposed to 7 on the STS. Buran had better on-orbit performance because it used better OMS engines with a less toxic fuel and a higher specific impulse than the OMS used on STS. Buran was only a payload for Energia, and there were configurations without Buran that could have launched a huge amount of mass towards the Moon, and put up to 200 tons in low earth orbit. And since Buran wasn't an integral part of the stack, it didn't carry any dangerous and heavy main engines which were useless shortly after launch, like the Space Shuttle.
It's a pretty neat thing that, while they might have mimicked the overall concept of the STS, they had to invent or improvise every single component of it from scratch. Everything was of Soviet design. And in the process, they created a system that could have proven itself to be better than the STS in many important ways. They even invented the world's most powerful liquid fueled rocket engine as a part of Energia/Buran.
Anybody have any ideas as to how I can make this go faster?

(Using only vanilla parts)
I just got it to 4501.2, but without rigid beams I can't apply any of my ideas for speeding it up.
anyone has mirror of vanilla game? download.php on the site is going 500 on me

Add a quad of solid fuel boosters to the top stage area and make them fire at the same time as the middle stage's boosters. Angle them so that they aren't directly above the middle boosters to prevent overheating.

Yeah, it's a shame that due to Gorbachev's dislike of rockets/the space program and the end of the Soviet Union, that it never came to fruition.

Apparently you can have too many rockets.
No, your game has too little rockets, you need to add more
