Thread is nearly dead. Sigh.
Thread is nearly dead. Sigh.
noep, just waiting for the mun.
I finally made it into an orbit! FIANLLY! .... aaaaand I forgot my parachute :saddowns: [editline]29th August 2011[/editline] I finally made it into an orbit! FIANLLY! .... aaaaand I forgot my parachute :saddowns:
I finally made it into an orbit! FIANLLY! .... aaaaand I forgot my parachute :saddowns:
I did that too the first time I got into orbit.
This game is great. I just enjoy trying to get my ships to get as fast as they can out of the atmosphere.
I finally made it into an orbit! FIANLLY! .... aaaaand I forgot my parachute :saddowns:
If you still have some fuel when you get back into the atmosphere, you can try landing like a man! All you have to do is to get to below 5 m/s before you land.
If you still have some fuel when you get back into the atmosphere, you can try landing like a man! All you have to do is to get to below 5 m/s before you land.
I was SO VERY CLOSE to doing that! .... theeeen I lost control and blew everything up :saddowns:
If you were careful and out of fuel (I think), you can "land" the rocket and only blow up the engine.
Does anyone know how I can modify the parts not to fall apart or explode on contact with the planet?
Does anyone know how I can modify the parts not to fall apart or explode on contact with the planet?
You could probably edit the "crashTolerance" parameter in the part.cfg files for each part.
Does anyone know how I can modify the parts not to fall apart or explode on contact with the planet?
Add parachutes, I'd recommend this mod.
You could probably edit the "crashTolerance" parameter in the part.cfg files for each part.
Works for non explosion, but still breaks apart [editline]1st September 2011[/editline]
Add parachutes, I'd recommend this mod.
I mean in order to make a vehicle that can land and lift of, or glide over the surface.
Works for non explosion, but still breaks apart
Maybe the breakingForce and breakingTorque parameters, then?
I mean in order to make a vehicle that can land and lift of, or glide over the surface.
Use the Apollo moon lander
Some of you may remember my 4x Satellite deployer. 4 Satellites ain't bad ... but it's not 16 baby. May I present the maiden voyage of the Super JX5500 Delivery Boy! Launchy launch launch! Seperation of the first stage. Next seperation after stabilizing the orbit. Now I moved to the darkside of the planet, and began deploying satellites, you see the satellite fairings detach, and the first batch of probes scoot off. This is the second batch of satellites, i actually had abit of upward momentium when I detached the fairings, they scraped my engines abit but no biggie. Now time to get rid of the bloated mid engine section, and additional RCS modules. Do a front flip and detach in style. After Jeb and I layed down some funky beats to pass the time, we saw the sun rising and I took this sexy picture. There were reports of door to door salesmen in the area around the launchpad, so we were told to redirect to another safe location. Time to detach the deceleration module and begin landing sequence! Going down nice and steady, aiming for that flat spot. Time to land in the crater made by the last section impacting the ground. Down nice and safe, impossible to get that thing flat when you don't break the engine on landing, 0.01m/s of drift and you tip. The stats I'm rather chuffed about this rocket, it turned out nicely. It's 31 stages due to all the stuff I had to add to make the deploying "semi automatic".
Upload that craft file immediately.
Fucking brilliant. Nice description too. Love this line "This is the second batch of satellites, i actually had abit of upward momentium when I detached the fairings, they scraped my engines abit but no biggie." Dont know why but makes me think about all the shit than can and does go wrong in space.
Upload that craft file immediately.
I do believe I have some edits in places to make certain parts "not suck" so i'm fairly certain something near the top would wobble or snap. Sometimes people release parts with the weakest of constraints. [editline]1st September 2011[/editline]
Fucking brilliant. Nice description too. Then literally upload your KSP folder. That craft is the craft of my dreams.
Then literally upload your KSP folder. That craft is the craft of my dreams.
I'll see what I can do. Can anyone suggest any good sites for doing 209~mb uploads that won't eat my soul? I've got one going but always nice to have backups.
*the most awesome ship I've seen so far*
I so totally need to fly this masterpiece. It looks like something humans would use in the future.

If it still isn't below 200mb, you might have to look for another service, or just break the download into 2 parts.
Here you go. http://filesmelt.com/dl/KSP_v9.rar A quick hint, smash the stabilisation on instantly or bad things will slowly happen. The longer you wait on the launchpad the more dubious it becomes, remember this. Good luck, have fun.
I can't figure out how to use the decoupler shrouds for the life of me. How do I use them?

I completely forgot about this game. I need to pick it up again tomorrow.

I get like 2 fps at the lowest possible settings.
Features for .10, everything but joystick support is completed.
New: * Completely overhauled procedural terrain system. Much more reliable and stable. * The whole planet can now detect collisions, so ejected parts can now land safely. * The terrain mesh is far more stable, shorelines and mountains no longer wobble. * The new terrain system is completely translation and rotation-safe. It can be moved dynamically without breaking visually. * An Orbital analysis and propagation system, allowing for a complete planetary simulation, among many other possibilities, is ready for implementation. * Terrain quads are now queded for subdivision, to improve performance * The terrain system now allows for a secondary target object, so both the ship and the camera can subdivide the terrain. * Mini settings screen for in-game tweaks. * New (much better) shader for water. * The R8 Winglet now responds to input, and can be used as an elevator, canard, aileron, rudder, or any combination. * It is now possible to crank anti-aliasing up to 8x. * Joystick Support. * A working Mac OSX version! Bug Fixes: * Hi-subdivision tiles now have mesh colliders, which means the far side of the planet is no longer an insta-death trap. * Fixed the textures stretching near the terminator * The camera will no longer go through the ground. * The terrain collision mesh now perfectly matches the visual terrain. * Fixed a problem with the atmosphere, where it would fade in and out at specific points in orbit. * Fixed a few problems with some game settings not being correctly applied on game start. * Fixed a problem with the volume settings where explosions would sometimes sound out even with volume at 0%
