Is it just me or is it damn hard to get in to orbit with vanilla parts
Is it just me or is it damn hard to get in to orbit with vanilla parts
Just use 4 tanks and 1 engine. Plenty of fuel to get into velocity and make adjustments.
KSP is taking forever to load for me. At a half hour now and stuck on the painting. What do?
KSP is taking forever to load for me. At a half hour now and stuck on the painting. What do?
Any mods? Because you have to install mods in individual part folders.
Was messing around with some parts from our pack, to make some sexy pictures. Got into orbit but ran out of fuel de-orbiting. I must admit though. Kearth looks beautiful. edit: landed on the dark side of kerbal. God it's nice.
Any mods? Because you have to install mods in individual part folders.
In the root KSP folder? what should I name it?
In the root KSP folder? what should I name it?
When you get a mod, they'll all be in different folders. You take the entire folder, name and all, and put it into your parts folder.
When you get a mod, they'll all be in different folders. You take the entire f older, name and all, and put it into your parts folder.
Damn it, I was going to post a graphical guide. :saddowns:
When you get a mod, they'll all be in different folders. You take the entire folder, name and all, and put it into your parts folder.
So each of the individual parts folders? (Like liquid_engine and foo_bar_sas) or the whole folder (Like Sunday Punch 1_09) If so, I did that.
So each of the individual parts folders? (Like liquid_engine and foo_bar_sas) or the whole folder (Like Sunday Punch 1_09) If so, I did that.
It should be like: /KSP/Parts/liquid_engine /KSP/Parts/foo_bar_sas
It should be like: /KSP/Parts/liquid_engine /KSP/Parts/foo_bar_sas
I did that. I have the following: C7 wings & parts Sunday Punch Assorted Hardware Challenger Pack
I did that. I have the following: C7 wings & parts Sunday Punch Assorted Hardware Challenger Pack
It should have the individual parts in there. parts/kwspessrokket parts/1towhateverfairings parts/liquidengine parts/1mspaceshipshit Not indivdual mod folders. If you have those packs, you should have LOADS of folders. [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] Just for some laughs I wanted to see how tall I could get a rocket. v0.1d of Challenger Pack http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=2680.0 now with ~~incorrect challenger spelling~~
Pretty basic lunar lander. As designed, the first ascent/descent stage ensures a safe landing in 1/6 gravity, then allows a secure liftoff. The retrorocket is meant to head the rocket back down directed towards Kerbin and when it runs out of fuel, it's decoupled by the tiny decoupler and the parachutes are engaged when close enough to land. Too bad it looks fucking ridiculous.
It isn't a lander, it has parachutes.
It isn't a lander, it has parachutes.

landers may employ aerobraking and parachutes to slow down
My parachutes are used for re-entry, not on the moon. How would you even use parachutes in the moon?
On that challenger pack I got something I noticed on one of the images. The text for the Super IV says (Super Six), but IV is the roman number for 4. I don't particularly enjoy nitpicking, but it annoys me :v: Very good looking pack though!

Aww yeah, stable orbit at 150000m Apokee and 75000m Apogee

HHHHNNNnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggghh fixed
The challenger pack got some stability problems with the larger fuel tanks and engines, the engines start acting very odd when using the 8m tank/longer because of the weight/something else. It makes it impossible to make large rockets because it'll tip over instantly :( [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] adding solid rockets to stand on during launch fixes it though.

It makes it impossible to make large rockets because it'll tip over instantly :(
It's because kerbal space pack has some weird ways of handling "constraints". It can't really handle heavy weights on single short stacks. I get around it by "insta" launching or using multiple bottom stacks, or as you said, side SRBs.
Can't you just ducktape the stacks together?
Can't you just ducktape the stacks together?
It helps, but the only way i've seen to get around it is to have alot higher weight engines, I wonder if at some point harvester will fix the constraints. For now I guess having side SRBs near the bottom or attempting to reinforce with struts would be your best bet.
Yeah, and I actually needed the SRB's too. I might've achieved my first ever Good orbit now. And the best is that I did it with an earlier stage than planned, so I can easely do re-entry (only thing is is that I forgot a decoupler, so I need to find a way to save my little astronauts)
I've seen those side mount things before, where can I find them?
I think they're part of the Wobbly Rockets AKA Sunday Punch's Parts pack.

It's the space centre, I should've seen that way earlier (look above the SAS indicator) I did it! Not anywhere near the space centre aw :( [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] also if you kill them before their faces get displayed, you'll see them in fear after they died.
Finally built a decent spaceplane. It's not super long range, but it can get into orbit fairly easily. The only con I can think of is it's a bit front-heavy. Keep the SAS on and it won't bother you much. download: http://filesmelt.com/dl/Rule_The_Skies.craft
