Kerbal Space Program, or: "How many rockets can I slap onto this thing?"
8,384 replies, posted
made a big rocket into orbit at 120 000km
went to college
come back 7hours later
still in orbit
fuck yeah!
At this point, I only put parachutes on so there isn't a flat top. Powered landings provide a good challenge, and I have redundancy; parachutes blew up? Engine still works. Engine blew up/out of fuel? Parachute. Both blew up? You probably were dead anyway.
Yeah 2,222 posts!
You still got an engine?
RCS thrusters, i could have deorbited easily but would have crash landed.

Well now you must decide if it is better for your kerbals to die on impact, or from suffocation. (Or just click end flight :v:)
Suffocation, helps to collect valuable scientific data for future ignorance, afterall, crash research has been pretty much maxed out :P
Decided to pre-order this, haven't played it in a bit, all the changes are looking pretty good.
Now if I could just remember how to get an orbit again
All this talk of ducttape and needing ducttape reminds me of this:

But I digress.

Fuck fiberglass, DUCT TAPE!
Fuselages be expensive yo, would've done the same thing.

I imagine duct tape would be a little bit lighter as well.
[editline]12th October 2011[/editline]
Also what the fuck happened, it looks like it attacked by a bear or something.

That's because it was attacked by a bear. He left his lunch in the plane, I think.
Once again, something that would happen to a Kerbelian.
Well, this sucks, want to install latest pre-release, but nope, computer failure. luckily I've got a very old toshiba satellite with a p3 and 512mb of ram sitting right next to my usual low performance laptop.

That won't run KSP for shit, it barely runs on my 1.66GHz Intel Atom 1GB Toshiba netbook. And that's with everything unnecessary for operation of the computer.
Well, not gonna be able play any games until I fix it or get a new/upgrade a computer.

Not that it matters, I'll just use this to pester VALVe to port half life to wii and make wiimote your god darn crowbar!
Made it into orbit for the first time, lowest point is 64,439m, highest is 634,293m, not too bad, i wasn't in the atmosphere long enough to slow me down at all really, maybe 1-2m/s at a time, and that was at speeds in excess of 2523m/s.
I probably should have asked this before starting the mission, but how long can Kerbals survive without food or water because... well...

The periapsis is only 97,000 meters, so I'm estimating it's going to be another 2 months to get back. How stinky is it going to be in the pod?

Personally, even with the same/similar rockets, ever since about X3 I've not been able to get any really circular orbits, mostly extremely elliptical, despite doing the same things in both versions.
Now if I could just remember how to get an orbit again
Go sideways fast at above 69 km.
Tadaa.

Yeah, I've noticed that despite my previous success, none of my Spaceplanes have been successful. I can get them into orbit but getting them back down has been impossible because they'll tend to start flipping out of control and can't maintain a slow enough glide. Getting some rockets up is kind of hit or miss too, virtually none of them seem to stay upright without SAS slapped all over even though they're all symmetrical.

If you count out the hyperthreading (this is KSP after all, I doubt it makes much use of it) of what I suppose is an N280 (the N455 runs at 1.66GHz as well), the performance of the best P3 are actually somewhat comparable. Of course his P3 is a laptop version, so it's considerably slower, but still it's thinkable that it would run. Very sluggishly, though.

Yeah, but I'm more concerned about V-RAM, which is usually system RAM in laptops because of Intel's GMA system.
another orbit with vanilla parts, 4 engines, first stage a triple liquid with 2 tanks per engine, then at 25-30km i engage my last stage for orbit, max Ap of 232km, Pa of 76km.
You want my specs, I'll post em.

We were only talking about the CPU, thus really providing that the GPU would be good enough. You might fidn a good enough GPU from that era, but I'm not sure at all that it would like to actually run the application.

I didn't say anything about the CPU.

The GPU seems to be competing with the intel GMA, so the power's in order. I doubt it's gonna run it, simply because of incompabilities.

Damn my automerge. VRAM is a concern as well, but really, we're trying to compare something quite present with something that's 10 years old, gotta give it some leeway.

Very true. But it won't run because as you said, its incompatible with older systems.
*off topic!!!*
Well, with my 61.* mb of graphics ram, I got some scores in pinball. {space cadet pinball from xp}

Nice, the screenshot button is F2 btw.
You also might want to try a powered landing.

The fuck is with facepunch.
Well, I just had a dream about KSP. I managed to get into a super elliptical orbit when I suddenly thought, "If only I had the C7 pack right now".
I really need to lay off this thread.
