Decided to ride a big rocket into space.
I can see this game reaching Minecraft-esque success before this year is done. So awesome. I'm glad to see that devs are smart and are releasing their early builds like this for free. It generates a great amount of interest and it gets advertised strictly by word of mouth. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline] Also, where can I get my hands on that content pack?
How dare you wish that the devs of this game take loads of money then take vacation for all but 4 month of the year and never work on the game they are supposed to be working on, maybe release a bug fix and call it a new version if the community gets lucky. you sir, are a dick.
Speed is 4800, height is 550km and increasing. Which is odd, because I tried to decrease it, it started to decrease, I stopped engines, it started increasing again.
Yes. YES!
Ah, you made a British fuel tank. How thoughtful.

Does anyone know what altitude air resistance is escaped? Trying to do some low orbits.
This game is fantastic. I really wish NASA did something like this instead of moonbase alpha. Also, I love watching separated components slowly drift away.

Will there ever be one of these? And will we ever be able to go to the moon?
Fuck da police.
Will there ever be one of these? And will we ever be able to go to the moon?
They already said they planned both those.
You mean as in constructing a ship belly-down? Fear not! this is another planned feature. But instead of trying to wrap my head around an all-in-one assembly building for all that, the plan is to create a Spaceplane Hangar. A separate building, in which you can build things like planes and shuttles. Those, later, will be launchable from a runway, and we might possibly even find a way to integrate what you build there with rockets in the VAB. So you could, in fact, build a Space Shuttle.
Stop asking about shuttles, they'll be in eventually. Did you even read the thread? Both of those questions have been answered.
I just realized how much I love it when the parachute breaks when flawed rocket design explodes in mid air. Its like they have to accept their deaths because of one stupid design flaw.
Going around the Earth hopefully. About 150km, 1800 m/s and slowing. About the dark side of the Earth now.
I just realized how much I love it when the parachute breaks when flawed rocket design explodes in mid air. Its like they have to accept their deaths because of one stupid design flaw.
If you have a engine attached to the control pod and separated by a coupling, and you try and separate the parts when the engine is on, if you press it again the parachute opens, resulting in a pinwheeling craft until either the parachute breaks off, leaving the crew to fall to their death, or for the command module and parachute to break off, letting everyone survive. Quite intense.
Got this game about an hour ago and my first three rockets were all shit (crashed at start or never reached orbit) but I think my fourth one is pretty good : [thumb]http://horobox.reager.org/u/tmARiku_1310428266.jpg[/thumb] Although, it got a huge flaw... i wonder if you can see it. It's going downwards right now.
The Kerbal dudes are adorable. All the more reason to kill them.
Fuck da police.
What the fuck, give me your design
parachute so you can slow yourself in space!
What the fuck, give me your design
Unfortunately, I hax'd and used non-vanilla modules. :( Will try to attain MAXIMUM SPEEDS using vanilla tomorrow.
I'm seeing the same Twinkling light the other person has seen, I believe it's in the same place. One second, let me double check. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline] Unsure if it's the same place. He's too low compared to me.

I'm pretty sure it's the reflection in the water of your spaceship, as when I started to land it began moving towards me until it vanished.
Fuck da police.
How? When I tried to make faster modules the ship just literally sheared itself apart :v:
Unfortunately, I hax'd and used non-vanilla modules. :( Will try to attain MAXIMUM SPEEDS using vanilla tomorrow.
Strap on a few stages of space shuttle boosters?
The Kerbal dudes are adorable. All the more reason to kill them.
I just love killing them. Its funny watching their lasts Moments as the command pod falls down to earth at high speeds.
Strap on a few stages of space shuttle boosters?
Boosters are evil. EVIL I TELL YOU. I've found it works better to just use liquid fuel thrusters in stages for some reason, everytime I used boosters they either exploded at the wrong time or flew into my command module every time I disengaged them. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
I just love killing them. Its funny watching their lasts Moments as the command pod falls down to earth at high speeds.
And how Jeb is always smiling.
Strap on a few stages of space shuttle boosters?
Trouble is, to attain high speeds you need a fuckload of fuel, and it's extremely hard to get enough fuel into orbit using only vanilla modules.
I mean those huge 'medium' boosters from the parts pack.
Going around the Earth hopefully. About 150km, 1800 m/s and slowing. About the dark side of the Earth now.
It's quite clearly not Earth. It's an earth-like planet populated by little green men.
Oh my god, they actually survived it even though the engine hit the water together with the command pod. [thumb]http://horobox.reager.org/u/tmARiku_1310353428.jpg[/thumb]
