Why does Mun have to move? :(
Shit SHIT where is that lander mod I need to put it on my shipppppp
Well something went gravely wrong. I tried to orbit the mün, but I ended up orbiting the sun.
[editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
So close, yet so far away.

Same thing happened over here except i forgot the RCS thrusters and couldn't point to the moon i was spinning around and saying "Oh fuck how did i forget those?".
I have noticed that the moon orbits 1/5 of its entire orbit by the time you reach its distance from Kerbin.
And it's waaay harder than I thought it would be, because the first problem I bump into is to get an orbit around Kerbin that's completely horizontal with the moon's.
In conclusion, this is exactly like rocket science :eng101:

Yeah but problem is I think that mun is much smaller and has a smaller pull than the moon.
Could be wrong but it just seems that way to me
What's the speed of the Mun, so I can guestimate where it'll be?
What's the speed of the Mun, so I can guestimate where it'll be?
542.5 m/s, and its altitude is 11,4 thousand kilometers.

Burn retrograde at the Mun and pray to the great kerbin gods that you have enough fuel for landing.
542.5 m/s, and its altitude is 11,4 thousand kilometers.
About half of that as the Moon. [/uselessfacts]
WHY WON'T IT LOAD FASTER!?

Let's see if i can't sacrifice the last of my fuel to just crash into it
First attempt, it was a great success, though in the end, in traditional Kerbal fashion, they died using the mountain as a catapult
Approaching the Mun, orienting for a retrograde burn...

Initiated Retrograde burn, orbit closed

Now let's land this tube

Someone teach me how to use RCS

IM MAKING THIS HAPPEN
Oh shit its out?
how to orbit mun?
VICTORY

Gunna upload a video, I was losing altitude really slow but was still going horizontally at 400 m/s, hot damn dodged a few mountains before crashing. Was neat.
Is there a sun yet?
Is there a sun yet?
It has gravity / you can orbit it, but it has no model (so you can fly through it)

sunrise at the Mün, welcome to your destination, lads. :v:
Judging from the orbital reconnaissance I'm doing right now the entire surface is bumpy. The landing will be tough.
edit:
what the hell is up with the surface: http://i.imgur.com/O9BI1.png it's just a bunch of poorly stiched together squares.

Just circularize it when you get high enough.
(Sorry about the caps lock, precision control was on.)

Press "r" and then use I,J,K,L to pilot it or just use WASD
WHY DOES KSP KEEP FREEZING WHEN I TRY TO WARP
Darn, I think I just launched a mission into Kerbin's core instead of to the moon...

(I have no idea what happened, but when I failed to orbit, I fell, and kept going through the ground, around the core, and back up through the ground at high speeds.
EDIT: IT KEEPS HAPPENING

We'll there's my first run. Doesn't look like I can make it back as KSP keeps crashing :(
It has gravity / you can orbit it, but it has no model (so you can fly through it)
So I could use it as a ridiculous gravitational slingshot?
20km orbits, FUCK YEAH.
There needs to be some sort of arch to orbit through.
This entire page is full of win.
edit:
ugh this wasn't supposed to happen.
We'll there's my first run. Doesn't look like I can make it back as KSP keeps crashing :(
I liked the part where you were zipping across surface at 400 m/s before the crash, the music made it even better.
Can someone PLEASE tell me how the fuck can i increase/decrease the AP/PE?? i really want to get to the mun :(
Can someone PLEASE tell me how the fuck can i increase/decrease the AP/PE?? i really want to get to the mun :(
To modify your orbit, here's what you do:
To lower your Apoapsis, make a Retrograde burn at the Periapsis.
To raise your Apoapsis, make a Prograde burn at the Periapsis.
To lower your Periapsis, make a Retrograde burn at the Apoapsis.
To raise your Periapsis, make a Prograde burn at the Apoapsis.
Now, what is prograde and retrograde? They are simply the names of which direction of motion you're facing. For example, if you're facing the same direction as the direction of motion, that's Prograde, and when facing the opposite direction of motion is Retrograde.
