That reminds me of something... There should be an easter egg deathstar in an asteroid belt so we can all be surprised when its not a moon.
I've always wondered, how large are those structures that can be seen on the surface of the Death Star?
The orbital trajectory screen needs to have the HSI gauge on it, so we can do these Retro/Prograde burns while looking at the trajectory. 1m/s difference in speed at point A can make a thousand miles difference at point B, and that pause between screen transitions can screw you over if you're needing to be careful
I'd rather have AP / PE readings on the flight screen
I'd rather have AP / PE readings on the flight screen
Or if not that, then an option for <1x warp, so we can have more precision in timing.
Or if not that, then an option for <1x warp, so we can have more precision in timing.
If you need slowmotion/bullet time then you're doing something wrong.
If you need slowmotion/bullet time then you're doing something wrong.
Unless your so crazy you use boosters for a lander.
If you need slowmotion/bullet time then you're doing something wrong.
Real rocketry is precise down to the thousandths of a second, so why not fake, silly rocketry? Also, KSP TAS runs.
Probably late but just found out you can forward/reverse thrust with RCS by pressing h/n.
I attempted some orbital docking maneuvers. Here are my results. Just about... [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/Orbital Docking Test/screenshot229 - Almost.png[/t] Docked [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/Orbital Docking Test/screenshot230 - Docking Successful.png[/t] Engine End Docked [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/Orbital Docking Test/screenshot231 - Engine End Docked.png[/t] And there goes my chute... [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/Orbital Docking Test/screenshot232 - There Goes My Chute.png[/t] But I still landed without killing any Kerbals. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/Orbital Docking Test/screenshot233 - Safe Landing%2C Other Parts Destroyed.png[/t] I should have taken more screenshots.
Can anyone upload a ship that can get to the Mun and back easily so I can fuck around with it without actually making the craft, which will just end in me attaching tons of solid boosters to a rocket?
Can anyone upload a ship that can get to the Mun and back easily so I can fuck around with it without actually making the craft, which will just end in me attaching tons of solid boosters to a rocket?
I have just the thing Gimme a sec [editline]8th November 2011[/editline] I give you... The KSS Penetrator Fully stock parts, easily able to get to the Mun, getting back is a matter of fuel conservation once up there though. Download: http://www.teambps.net.au/images/fpnoth/KSS%20Penetrator.craft (Someone else posted a screenshot in this thread a while back, I recreated it based off that)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11517902/Agoodmun.craft You'll need both of these packs http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=2680.0 And that's it. I find it's really easy to get to Mun. Basically just keep going vertical until your AP is as far as mun's is, it's ok that it's not circular and that you will crash back to kerbal. Once you reach the AP do a prograde burn (set the indicator to surface, point towards the green circle without the X and turn the thrust on), this raises the Pe. If after that you need to lower your AP wait till PE and retrograde. It's fairly easy to get to an orbit where the moon will catch you (and once it catches you just retrograde A LOT and you'll slow down enough to land / orbit it) Picture: (ugly but works really well)
Basically just keep going vertical until your AP is as far as mun's is, it's ok that it's not circular and that you will crash back to kerbal.
I generally find getting into a stable orbit first, then increasing the Apoapsis to ~11,400,000 the easiest way to get there
My orbits for Kun insertion usually are not stable enough to last. I just get my Ap to 11,000,000 and swing around. I use a vanilla launch vehicle i found, combined with the Challenger LEM.
my god time warping is crashing the game when ANY BIT OF OTHER TEXT THAT ISNT RELATED TO TIME WARPING is on the screen. The game does not want me to go to the mun.
I usually don't get into orbit of the moon. I just go towards it like a big rocket-y meteor and face backwards and slam that throttle on. My net's pretty horrible right now so I can't post pictures of my fun Mun escapades. In a few days maybe :/
Make it to the mun in a lander, land perfectly, press space to get to your ascent stage, only then realise that your lander is a combined ascent/descent stage. Rage.
That feeling when you accidently press space and realise you've ruined the entire mission...
Or when you use fairings without editing the stages. *press space* *all fairings pop off and blows up*
May have been posted already but for anyone with parts that are tinted red can fix it using the Kerbal Image Converter.
Wow that was incredible. First flight in 3 weeks, I grab an already made rocket I used for getting the kubble into orbit and in one try I manage to traverse orbits to the moon and put the kubble in orbit around it, then get back to Kerbin and make a flawless 6 degree reentry and land safely. Now to make a lander.
Jeb does not yet realize that white spot up there is his parachute that was just ripped off.. And that his lander just flew off:
I wish there was belly-down construction for space-planes that spawned you on the runway, and also more vanilla stock parts to mess around with. Hunting for packs that don't break the game is a pain.
Just so you people know: spaceplane VAB is a planned feature. Oh, and since you guys don't seem to frequent the forums all THAT much, just letting you know: 0.13 might be the last free version.

He was so close to exiting out of the atmosphere
Can't see the video, what is it?
Can't see the video, what is it?
He nearly misses a mountain on the Mün, then throws off a stage which smashes into the moon, then tries to fly off, bottom part explodes and his command module flies off which finally ends up crashing into the Mün anyways [editline]8th November 2011[/editline] I was just testing out my new rocket that will deliver my mün lander, and i was going down with about 500 m/s at a few km high, thought i wouldn't be able to land with the engine so i'd figured to use my chute, but accidentally dismounted that stage before shutting the engine down. I thought the engine would just smash into the ocean anyways at the speed i was going, it nearly did, well, :v:

Nop.
He just positioned it. Didn't really 'dock'
