Kerbal Space Program, or: "How many rockets can I slap onto this thing?"

Okay, getting into orbit, an easy several step guide.
1.) Burn upwards till you reach an altitude of 10km.
2.) At that altitude, begin to level off, and keep burning until you are virtually horizontal.
3.) At 15km high, you should be horizontal and facing your direction of travel. Cut your engines, and coast till you notice your altimeter beginning to decrease.
4.) That's the top point of your orbit. You should burn either prograde or retrograde here to increase/decrease the size of the orbit. However, I have no idea how much you need to burn or the speed you need to go to maintain an orbit because I am not an astrophysicist. Experiment.
I find the simple designs work best. 5 SRBs and 3 Fuel Tanks + 1 Liquid Fuel engine will get you anywhere you need to go, any height, and well over 3500m/s in speed too

Mine was roughly stable at just under 3000m/s and i had enough fuel to make minor corrections as well.

Stop changing your avatar, you're making it increasingly harder to not masturbate.
Getting to orbit takes a few hours already :v:
Okay, what value does the constant of gravity have in this game? Can I assume 10m/s^2 or whatever the unit is?
Okay, what value does the constant of gravity have in this game? Can I assume 10m/s^2 or whatever the unit is?
The constant acceleration of gravity should and does change the further away from the ground you are.
Audiobooks of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy make leaving Earth's atmosphere even more enjoyable. I'm currently coasting past the 11,000 k at a rate of 1.5 km/s with nothing but my pod left.

Speaking of which, Sauce on girl?
Does Kerbia rotate around its poles?
Wait why is it when I have a shit with solid and liquid boosters only the liquid ones start?
The constant acceleration of gravity should and does change the further away from the ground you are.
Yeah, I want to know what it is on the surface.

Because there are multiple stages. Try hitting space again.
does anyone else have the no-saving/no launching problem
Because there are multiple stages. Try hitting space again.
I almost felt his spacecraft explode.
Is that update available yet? With the volume normalization and all the other changes?
Four minute burn up to 10km. My rocket is a heavy thing.
There can only be a max of six stages?
So.. Has anyone tried landing a rocket they sent up without using a parachute? Taking one up, then back down to land it on, I dunno, tail fins?
Good practice in case we ever get moon landers. :v
Is that update available yet? With the volume normalization and all the other changes?
No, not yet. It'll be up on July 18, along with some more features and bugfixes we are going to tackle next.
Cheers

I've done more, sometimes I had to artifically create a stage by putting a radial coupling near the bottom and messing with the order.
But I can recall using more.

I have done landings near the start platform, I think the modules tend to die before landing even at low speeds.

Gravitational constant of the surface of the planet, what be it? :V
Gravitational constant of the surface of the planet, what be it? :V
My guess would be 9.81m/s^2
But like I said, it's a guess.

Yea, there needs to be a button to add a stage, as it can be quite difficult trying to set multiple rockets on one section to ignite at various stages.
I want this design to work so bad

Too bad the automatic staging sequencer sucks. brb spending an hour getting the stages situated.

Mm, could be, I guess.

Ahh, speaking of which, I just made an interesting experiment here.
It's too early to make it into a feature, it'll probably require some tweaking of the staging logic for it to work well, BUT:
I was able to rig up a key to switch targets. That means it was possible to switch from one command pod to another, and the game was perfectly ok with that.
Now, the staging logic prevents this being used right now... Because of the way the staging is based on a hierarchy tree, which is only calculated at flight start, the other capsules don't have any control over the ship as of yet.
But this has been a very interesting thing to try... I can see more or less how I should go about reestructuring the code to make that work.
Cheers
Can you fly into the sun?
There should be some way to have afterburners of the sort, say after getting the throttle up to 100% and letting go of shift, then pressing and holding again would bring you up to 150% and overheat like crazy. Let go of shift and it drops back down to 100% again.
Just reached 800k.
