One third of the way there!
My god is that 13 hours.
At the moment, only SRBs can be coupled to radial decouplers.
Damnit this explains a lot.
The problem now is there is not enough "grip" to hold long rockets together, because the parts connecting them can only be connected at one point. This causes it to spaz at high speed and smash into itself :v:
I guess they'll ass 3X3 connectors, which will keep the thing together (just a tri-coupler on both sides)

My best run so far, I'm trying to get into orbit, almost made it but no go, I did manage to get to the dark side of the planet, also landing on land is not recommended.
KSP could turn very complicated later on, would be fun actually.
My god is that 13 hours.
Yep.
I got into suborbital space. But before I could get into an orbit, the last SRB died. Then I realized that I didn't bring a parachute...

I want to see the ship

Imagine NASA doing that :v:
I want to see the ship
Sorry, trade secret between me and a friend. If you can get to a few thousand KM you're set, because gravity barely affects you anymore.

Highest flight so far. SAS really helps!
Now for the long descent.
HOLY SHIT THIS LOOKS AWESOME!
At the moment, only SRBs can be coupled to radial decouplers.
Also, he said that in the next version, there's going to be snap-to-angle and symmetrical placement options. Holy god yes.
Also, he needs to release "large" parts, so that we can build Saturn V-esque huge rockets, that not only reach the top of the guidance tower, but also carry more fuel and can lift more weight. Our small parts are good for suborbital and LEO flights, but we need larger engines to carry us to other bodies.
Needs more Shuttles.
Well, I had fun with this game.
My rocket design, quite simple really.

I know Sergeant Turtle has the exact same design, I just noticed now. I havn't copied that same image, look at the source of the image before you judge.
Now, for my altitude!

3443k, and it was still going at a speed of 1544.1 m/s but I really couldn't be arsed waiting for it to stop and start falling back down. The parachute was there to slow it down even more but it was still rising with the speed only going down about 0.3 m/s every second...

I wonder how long it would take for someone to recreate the Challenger incident.

About 10 seconds.
Just a small tip for some of you guys: Use solid boosters to get off the ground/leave the atmosphere, after that it's more efficient to use liquid boosters.
Such a fun game, these screen resolution errors are the best part!
This looks like an amazing amount of fun, getting it RIGHT now.

That fucking water tower.
reaching the dark side of the planet is harder then just going straight upwards, trust me.
[editline]9th July 2011[/editline]
and yeah, as said before, it's best to use solid boosters only for takeoff/inside atmoshphere (personally I think only for takeoff)

Fuck, almost was dark side until I decided to open FRAPS, now the screen is just black.
We shoot for a major update every 3 weeks, yes. But if it's possible and the game is stable, we also release revisions in-between, like the 0.8.1 coming up shortly.
Cheers
info on how updates will be done.
I predict that 0.8.1 will come out either Monday or Tuesday, it seems like he's pretty much done with it.
He also said that they'll be releasing an SDK very soon.
What's 0.8.1 contain?
What's 0.8.1 contain?

Here's the official changelog for version 0.8.1.
The list will grow as we take on more tasks. Tasks in green are already implemented.
New for 0.8.1:
* Added options to use Angle Snapping when placing surface-aligned parts.
* Symmetrical placement mode in the VAB.
Bug Fixes:
* Fixed bug where starting a new ship with a loaded multi-stage ship would create empty stages
* Some ship designs appear to get slightly stuck on the launch pad, making liftoff difficult.
* Correction of aerodynamic drag and atmospheric density models.
Cheers

Information on shuttles and spaceplanes:
You mean as in constructing a ship belly-down?
Fear not! this is another planned feature. But instead of trying to wrap my head around an all-in-one assembly building for all that, the plan is to create a Spaceplane Hangar. A separate building, in which you can build things like planes and shuttles.
Those, later, will be launchable from a runway, and we might possibly even find a way to integrate what you build there with rockets in the VAB. So you could, in fact, build a Space Shuttle.

This game is just the best.

How do you use the arches? I wanna slap some more rockets onto the side of my main craft, but nothing will mount onto them.
I'd like to see supports added (to keep longer tri-coupler rockets together and such), an option to rotate pieces (expecially the tri-coupler)
How do you use the arches? I wanna slap some more rockets onto the side of my main craft, but nothing will mount onto them.
Only SRBs can attach to the radial decouplers, and if they're not attaching, go to the launch pad then reenter the VAB, there's a glitch where sometimes the coupling points don't instantiate correctly and become invalid.

Yeah, either things on a triple stack need to be bound to each other automatically, or give us the ability to, otherwise we get wobbly legged rockets and the thing where the stacks spread out from each other on launch, not giving us optimum thrust.
[editline]9th July 2011[/editline]
Oh wow, I just thought of something. There's an easy solution to that. Just a piece like the tricoupler already is, but have it so there are also points on top, then you can put one every few modules and it would just couple the legs together.

Modified Engine or what? Since I just did the exact same design and it wouldn't even leave the ground.
Wait, nevermind, forgot the throttle.
