Curiously, most peoples addon packs seem to have very spacey textures - rusted metal, metal sheet tiling, black engine exhausts, etc. Where did these come from? Do you guys create them from scratch, or what?

Considering I only got this game a few hours ago, I think I'm doing well. 2030k and it decided it wanted to go home God Bless this remarkable ship who sent 1 brave Keman and two lesser brave Keman into the heavens.
Oh wow, this game is making so many of my childhood fantasies come true :buddy:
Someone should make a heatsink part that is just a coupler with some fin-like protrusions and really high conductance and dissipation values.
Other modules don't absorb heat though, do they?
The dev said that parts can absorb heat from other parts and dissipate it.

I really like the idea of a Nuclear/Ion engine. An engine with low impulse but long burn time would be dead useful for those orbital stages I've been trying to perfect.
I hope the moon/sun are added soon It'd be epic to travel all the way to the sun just to burn up and explode :v:
I finally achieved my first orbit. Granted, it's insanely elliptical, I think the apogee and perigee are somewhere around 300Km and 60Km and it took nearly 40 minutes, but whatever.
Wow, I bsoded on my second attempt at orbital flight, and I think I would have be able to make a orbit.
Is there a way to stop stuff from breaking from weight. I have like 25 of the 1000 fueltanks for my monstor rocket and it breaks before I can lift off.
I somehow acheieved an orbit where my 3 little space guys would go 2500 km out, slowly drift back towards earth, and slingshot around to 2500km, all of this happening in around a 3 hour timespan. With speedhacks, ofcourse.
what is speedhacks
I hope the dev adds the ability for the Command Capsule to have it's own small directional impulse. That way I can adjust my orbital velocity and height without having to keep an extra booster stage attached.
This sucks, I have so much thrust that I basically am ripping my rocket apart.
I really like the idea of a Nuclear/Ion engine.
Someone should make a heatsink part that is just a coupler with some fin-like protrusions and really high conductance and dissipation values.
As far as I know, no such dissipation values exist in the config.
What material? Does the texture have to applied via the material or can it just have it's UV's and it is applied elsewhere? Was the node supposed to actually be a part of the model, all I have is the wing and it's collision model? And what triangle tab? Picture?
Any material will do. I simply hit 'add new material' and left it as default grey. For the UV, I had two materials, one was the UV tex and one was just a default grey. I'm not sure about the node being part of the model - I think it's necessary but I'm not entirely sure. Using Blender 2.5, there should be a triangle tab along the same row there's the box (object) tab?
My first major success! After an EXTREMELY rough takeoff (massive fireball on startup) the final two stages burst upward from the fog, and proved to be enough to take our intrepid Kerbonauts all the way! Escaped the atmosphere and held altitute for about a minute, then a smooth re-entry and touchdown in the Kerbal Desert. So what are the best mods to enhance my ICBM building experience?
Sadly this works perfectly with Wine, except nothing but mouse1 is detected as far as mouse clicks.
why does 8.1 work but not 8.2 dammit
Woo. [t]http://puu.sh/3jOo[/t] Reach the heavens.
why does 8.1 work but not 8.2 dammit
I had this problem. When you're downloading mods, make sure they go in the RIGHT FOLDER. I think the one with the extra large tank didn't have the files in the actual folder. Make a folder that matches the DAE name and it should load up. That's how I fixed it, anyways.
On the orbital stats, if we have over 50km and have over 2.3km/s, does that mean we will orbit?
On the orbital stats, if we have over 50km and have over 2.3km/s, does that mean we will orbit?
As long as you don't have too much vertical speed, yeah. I had to bleed off as much of my upwards speed as I could and get going about 2300m/s horizontally at 50km, and that got me into an orbit. You'll probably want to start angling your rocket over at 30km.
And my final height: New record. :toot:
On the orbital stats, if we have over 50km and have over 2.3km/s, does that mean we will orbit?
It essentially means that if you are at 50km in height with 0 vertical speed and 2.3 km/s horizontal speed facing the horizon you'll get a perfect orbit. Of course, the margin of error is reasonable, but the farther you are from the given data, the more elliptical your orbit will be.
If we have too much vert speed, will we slingshot around and enter an orbit or will we re-enter?
Woah. 3km/s. Highest speed I've ever achieved.
It doesn't really matter how far you go once you escape Kearth's gravity. People have traveled way farther than that, it's just a matter of how much time you put into it. It's all about orbiting now. Or going as far as possible then returning and landing successfully.
Yeah but I haven't yet reached escape velocity (I don't think (I accidentally quit the program last night and I had drifted pretty far) and I I want to achieve it (on vanilla too).
I was aiming for orbit, but I leveled out too late, at around 40k, so I just went really high.
