12 seconds isn't the same speed as now, but even so.

Let's try this.
EDIT: GRRR WHY IS IMGUR SO STUPID
I was actually gaining height for a while ... even though I had been falling.
:raise: Huh?

Ion thruster! In action! With (shitty) textures! Being used completely wrong because it doesn't provide thrust for atmospheric flight!
Is it possible to hide the HUD?
EDIT:
Ok, thanks Goz3rr
It would have been great if you could! Imagine if you reach orbit and you just leave it in fullscreen with no HUD and Bach playing.. Ahhh..
You and I share the same dream, brother.

Is it me or is that Ion Thruster using a liqud fuel?
Or have you repurposed the shell to house a battery (I am assuming that's how ion thrusters are powered)?
Also... I just thought, this game needs RTGs

Another design capable of gliding for miles without power.
I finally touched down safely at 4:38

I guess this is a bug with the winglets? Surely this shouldn't happen...
it's an hour in, I'm 5300km and climbing at 900m/s
I'm restarting this is boring now!

I.. Uh.. Repurposed it into a battery.
There's no option for alternate fuel types, unfortunately. All I could do is make a model for an ion-tank but there's really not much point to that.
Also, an RTG would be useless because we have nothing to power yet. :v:
what does the Purple and the Yellow things in the hud mean?

Right. I'm hoping there's some official ion thrusters, so we can get the effect right.. and some need for electrical power.
RTGs are useless now, of course... but I am hoping that they will power my first space station. :D
What should I use to record a video of my glider. Fraps won't work because it has a 30 second cap.
all I ever want to do is make a rocket designed to drop as many explosives as possible.
it makes me wish there were other targets rather than the vehicle assembly building.
would make a nice mod.

Would be awesome if by random chance you see like a flying saucer, then an achievement "bullseye" if you hit it

Didn't know it was that kind of place. Thanks for the heads up.

Could you upload that rocket for me?
Could you upload that rocket for me?
Sure. The bottom part that carries it to glide height is just one solid booster. You probably want to change that if you really want to get a good distance.
Uploading a video of it now. (50 minutes remaining)
Here it is: http://filesmelt.com/dl/Untitled_Space_Craft1.craft
So I went into a near perfect orbit.

Is my ion thruster not good enough for you? :(

It flips over and over when I launch it :v:

Yeah you have to put SAS on immediately, and decouple as soon as it starts to enter a spin.
With the right rocket to launch it, I'm sure it could orbit without leaving the atmosphere. :v:
Just used this ship I made to reach 272 kilometers.

Edit: I guess somebody got on my computer and uploaded my own ship before I could? :v:
Get my little buddies into space
Realize I forgot to add parachute

I want to meet aliens at some point in an update, that would be cool; meeting them would bring up some challenge or talk screen where you need to impress them or get along, and if you do so you get to use some of their space parts.

Try this.

There's 2 SAS modules on the bottom of it. Just activate them and launch. When the rocket gets to be pointing at about 45 degrees, detach it. Try to keep the glider pointed between 45-65 degrees and you should move almost completely horizontal with extremely small amounts of altitude loss. I'm sure if you took off on of the SAS modules, you could probably gain altitude with it, albeit it'd be harder to control.
Just did it with only one SAS module. It handles fine if you can get it under control upon detaching the rocket. Best thing to do is get it stable in general (regardless of orientation), then temporarily disengaging the SAS module in order to reorient yourself. Even once it's all said and you, you might have to hold down a direction key to maintain an optimal angle.

Build it a tower out of fuel tanks for a launch stand, and add 12 fins to the booster and it flies straight
Can radial decouplers only be used with solid stage rockets? everything else I try to attach won't attach.
I'm terrible at building rockets.
