Yeah you are
Holy fuck fins are awesome.
In regards to orbiting if you go high enough with the glider craft, the winglets only seem to make enough of a difference at around 11000m. That's right about where you can start falling extremely slowly, anything above that and you drop like a stone.
Exceeded the speed of light by ~92k m/s, attempted to get back to kearth at about 50 million kilometers, began return at ~59 million kilometers, got to within 92,000 km and shot past at 390 thousand meters per second.
And this is using cheatengine to slow the game down to be follow the approach more exactly.
Flight time of 16 minutes and 30 seconds.

I find it pretty fun building jet planes with this and launching them up to 30k feet, then jettisoning the support tanks and flying the jet plane about at 500m/s, strafing the base, etc.
I added 8 more wings, and glided for 16 minutes before I touched down (starting at 185m) :v:
I was using the capsule mounted to the bottom of the rocket, but when you decouple, the coupler can fall and get stuck to the top of your capsule, and add weight, so I'll probably go back to a top mounted capsule.

In a full minute, I only lost less than 100 meters in freefall. (I was actually gaining height for a while when the nose was pointed straight up, even though I had been falling.
I managed to keep myself airborne for over 7 minutes using only this, (did use a SFB to "get off the ground, but decoupled after -3 seconds)
I tried adding a parachute, but it fell faster than the capsule, and flipped it over.

How much a lightyeahr/day/second is that?
about a quarter of a light second

Fuck.
I need some better designs :smith:
Okay, using the "wing" method, i am now at 1:06 and still going
My video just finished uploading. It's a bad run, but at least you get to see how the glider works if you didn't download it.

also fuck that watermark is annoying, but it was the best at recording without killing my framerate.

Using only wings and a SFB
I love this game so much

When we are able to build stations, will be we able to buy the parts, design them and assemble them in orbit?
For the eventual career mode, the "Win" condition should be leaving the solar system.
Initially, your income is from federal funding.
If you make accomplishments (Leaving the atmosphere, first successful orbit, first moon landing, etc) you can an increase in the order of billions.
If you have a catastrophic failure (The rocket immediately explodes and no crew survive) you lose funding, with a yearly cap of -10%.
The short term goal is to make enough money to purchase other larger launch platforms with bigger and better assembly facilities and better location. Eventually, you assemble your own with a moonbase and it all culminates in a massive orbital fabrication facility where you can build dickshatteringly massive starships like this

I have yet to even break 10,000m
3860k in 40 mins exactly
My orbit is ... Weird. 34KM at it's lowest, and 342 at it's highest :v:
A simple and easy design is
shuttle
2 fuel tanks
liquid engine
triple coupler
2 fuel tanks on each
1 liquid on each
then add 3 SFB using Radial Decouplers
And then add some stabilizing shit
Example

I've gotten that thing into a perfect orbit several times, just use up all the fuel from the SFB's and the 3 liquid engines, and use the last one to gain speed

This is literally the same design I am using. It's got a slight difference, but it's about 90% identical. It's a tried and true design. Among the best possible really.
Simple is the best right?
But when you later are supposed to do moon landings and stuff, I will have to change some stuff.

also I managed to escape orbit and am now cruising at 3.1k m/s, recently broke 10k kilometers.
vid plz
Didn't feel like trying my hand at that again today, so I used the same modded setup to do some low altitude flying.
Highest speed - 50,000 m/s
Highest altitude - 7,200 meters
Time - 27 seconds
Survivors - Two
It looks sped up because I was running it slower with cheat engine, but the video is in real time (check T+ display). The engine gets to 4% power without hitting the speed of light in seconds and flying out of the atmosphere.

1094K and counting.. I could go on but it's going to take forever until it stops.

Best rocket ever. Especially since the crew survives.
10 minutes in the tutorial now, how the hell do I flip the winglet?
This is silly.
