Hey nikomo, I'm about to be ready to put my stream up. Wanna take yours down and focus everyone on mine? :v:
I think I'm a little too good at this game.

:ohdear:
Bitch, you are 1000km short! LAUNCH IT AGAIN.
This is stable, until it explodes.

For anyone that might be having problems with the command capsule blowing up when landing on the dark side of the planet like me, it's a bug:
Bitch, you are 1000km short! LAUNCH IT AGAIN.
If it makes you feel better, I finally peaked at 1661km, at that time still traveling nearly 1000m/s horizontally. I don't think you can escape the planet in this game.

Pssh. 1600 KM and only 1000 m/s? Bitch, please. I was at 4000 KM doing 1600 m/s.
On another note, everything got a whole lot easier when I realized that just stacking SAS Modules on top of each other actually works.

I'm going to expand on this as much as I can until the game runs out of resources.
Oh. It seems that adding one more layer has made it too heavy to liftoff. Not to worry, I will find a remedy :eng101:

Why does North America remind me of Africa from this angle...
It's a fictional planet...
I thought this was hard as hell, my every attempt spiraling out of control at a few thousand feet... Then I read how to activate the SAS modules.
Putting a stream up, please use its chat if you wish to communicate with me

It really needs more parts to play with. And maybe a horizontal launch mode so i can make rocket planes. :v:
I sorta stole jeimizu's design but i upgraded it a little.

I got this baby up to 27,500 meters.

All planned.
You mean as in constructing a ship belly-down?
Fear not! this is another planned feature. But instead of trying to wrap my head around an all-in-one assembly building for all that, the plan is to create a Spaceplane Hangar. A separate building, in which you can build things like planes and shuttles.
Those, later, will be launchable from a runway, and we might possibly even find a way to integrate what you build there with rockets in the VAB. So you could, in fact, build a Space Shuttle.
I desperately hope we get rigidity beams. You click one placed piece, click another, and a rigid bit sticks between them, keeping them together while also making sure they don't get too close.
Right now, my ship is acting like jello.
Is there any smart way to prevent the "snaking" effect from happening?
I can control it with decreasing my throttle when it's having a go, but I bet there's some way to counter it when designing a rocket.

Godspeed lil buddy!
Added a couple wings, literally killed snaking entirely.
just a small update.
10400k, 2391m/s
This is how the space stage in SPORE should had been.
Oh man, rockets are way more fun than I used to believe.
I modded the SRB, now im doing 100km/s at 40 thousand Kilometers, and i got there in less than 15 minutes, with a single SRB, with an unmodded liquid rocket to propel me to the edge of the atmosphere.
I wish you could flip the TriCoupler upside down so you could go back to 1 rocket.
I took a shower and made breakfast and this thing's still at fucking 220km and falling.

Think that's bad?
My shuttle a lil while ago:

It now:

Notice the time difference.
oh my god are you telling me the boosters don't get fuel from the tanks
fuck me
Nope, they don't, hell, even I guessed that.
Solid Fuel Boosters, why would you need a fuel tank for solid fuel?
Shift = Faster
Control = Slower
Any chump can fly straight up into space. Real men make pilotable jets.

Small though.
Woah, got to 100km before fuel ran out for the first time.
I keep getting better and better.
Ran out of fuel when I was going 1800m/s
