Kerbal Space Program, or: "How many rockets can I slap onto this thing?"

"Rotating parts is a somewhat large feature. It will be added, but it will take some more time than we have for this patch.
If possible, we can try to include it for version 0.9, which will get started next monday."
Yess !

Weird cause there was one part where the spacecraft goes really low and I can see the space station under me.
I think I've run into a bug with weight/lifting.
One of my rocket builds ended up too heavy, and as such the first stage (3 SRBs) can't lift it. But if I move to the second stage (without igniting it), then the first stage is capable of lifting the entire rocket. So either it calculates the lifting ability from the new weight (minus the first stage), or it completely ignores the rest of the craft, and thinks it's just lifting itself.
I just landed safely using rockets to slow me down instead of a parachute.
I think I saw aurora borealis? I launched my rocket into orbit (around 236km, going about 2km/s), then I started to decay and plummeting towards Kearth, tumbling. Then I saw what looked like aurora borealis (like thick floating lines above the ground) on the horizon. Didn't get a screenshot though. Trying to replicate my flight again in order to get a screen.

Superior Soviet engineering!
Just imagine mission to Moon... With time manipulating of course.
Build rocket that could fly far enough, carry both landing module and that station thingy that will orbit Moon, and all that stuff around it like landing, taking off Moon, joining station thingy again and return to Kearth...
Now I'm in an orbit that has a 100kmh and 50 m/s difference between extremes, if this rate of improvement continues I'll have a perfect orbit in no time. :v:
2nd attempt in orbit.

Is there a way to find out where the space station is?

There are no space stations.
Yet.

I mean the launchpad. Cape Kernebral?

The purple marker on your instruments point towards it. (Or away from it depending on what direction you're facing in.)

Did a revolution and landed quite near the launchpad.

Ahh. It turns out I'm exactly right above it. That means I had a successful Straight orbit.
Interesting fact; At 999,999KM the counter resets.

not bad I guess
Has anyone ever tried making a saturn V rocket?
I tried making one of the more recent rockets, the ones with the space shuttle on the side of that giant orange tank. I forgot to set the stages up right and ended up ejecting the space shuttle into the tower right next to the launch pad.
Just when I am happy about my orbit and about to de-orbit. The damn spacecraft runs out of fuel during the de-orbital burn and now its drifting away into the unknown.
I managed to get to 4000 m/s, left it on overnight, and got to 10000k or 100000k or whatever the first digit of the rollover number is :v:
I want to make legit rocket (no fuel/strength modifying) capable of orbiting, but I can't simply build rocket strong enough to lift all the stuff (command module with liquid engine).

7 SRB's at the bottom. and fins for stabilizing.
Works like a charm.

The fins don't do much though. Its better to replace it with an SAS.
I got my Dad hooked to this game.

I got to this design eventually too (only two fuel tanks in the middle though), but rocket isn't stable, not even when I use crapload of SAS (and yes, I toggle it with "t" key before launch). I used so many SAS rings rocket got heavy AND it didn't work. I use symmetry, but still nothing. I'll keep trying. At least I got to airline height 10 000m and landed safely without parachute.

When I first used that rocket. I did not use any SAS, its all manual control. Also, put another SRB between the middle stage and the final ones. That should be able to propel you to orbit speed.
At least thats what I did.
