I'm tired of space.
My first perfect orbit. [editline]l[/editline] Fuck, I don't have enough fuel to take the ship out of orbit.
But you are not even level. thats not a perfect orbit. Silly.
Am I the only one who noticed the continent you launch your rocket from looks like africa? Kerfrica!
Am I the only one who noticed the continent you launch your rocket from looks like africa? Kerfrica!
Entire Kearth looks like Earth a few million years ago.
Just imagine mission to Moon... With time manipulating of course. Build rocket that could fly far enough, carry both landing module and that station thingy that will orbit Moon, and all that stuff around it like landing, taking off Moon, joining station thingy again and return to Kearth...
my avatar is ready [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] also prepare for this:
There needs to be more ways to build horizontally. Because everything I make ends up insecure horizontally and just wiggles like a giant octopus. Not efficient.
But you are not even level. thats not a perfect orbit. Silly.
How can you tell from that he's not level? Are you referring to the fact that the spacecraft is not perfectly flat to the ground, since that does not mean anything.
How can you tell from that he's not level? Are you referring to the fact that the spacecraft is not perfectly flat to the ground, since that does not mean anything.
In a perfect orbit, the little indicator on the nav ball that indicates your direction of motion should stay perfectly level with the horizon.

[editline]17th July 2011[/editline] and that should be at 0 degrees
In a perfect orbit, the little indicator on the nav ball that indicates your direction of motion should stay perfectly level with the horizon.
also i can roughly tell what your altitude is, and you look WAY to close to be able to keep a stable orbit at 1400 m/s. you would have to be at about 1200 km for that speed to work.
I have created an repository for addons and other files related to Kerbal Space Program, please tell me what you think and leave some feedback to me :) http://ksp.victorbjelkholm.se/
I don't think it looks so bad.
Something tells me I have given up with serious ship designs.
Something tells me I have given up with serious ship designs.
You killed nine people! You monster!
Have fun trying to balance anything that big.
That's the point, though. Half the fun of this (to me) is building something obviously horribly flawed and trying to make the best of it, considering it's pretty easy to just make a generic rocket that escapes kearth or gets an orbit. It'd be awesome to try sticking little bits and chunks of thruster here and there and trying to tweak the stages to get it something resembling flyable. And if it made it out, it'd be a pretty decent accomplishment.
Wait... When I align that green thingy with that thick white line... Does that mean it's perfect orbit? Because that's exactly what I got after many failures, and thought it's not orbit but spiral and I'll eventually end up miles away from Kearth. Height counter kept adding up... Speed was a bit more than 2km/s. Then I tried to fix orbit by thrusting straight down... :suicide: EDIT:
I think I saw aurora borealis? I launched my rocket into orbit (around 236km, going about 2km/s), then I started to decay and plummeting towards Kearth, tumbling. Then I saw what looked like aurora borealis (like thick floating lines above the ground) on the horizon. Didn't get a screenshot though. Trying to replicate my flight again in order to get a screen.
Yeah, I think I saw something like aurora borealis too. It's not so obvious on static screenshot though.
But you are not even level. thats not a perfect orbit. Silly.
Actually, we don't have enough information to determine whether he is in a perfect orbit. For that we need to see the Variometer, next to the altimeter, which indicates to rate of ascent/descent. The NavBall has nothing to do with whether or not you are in a perfect orbit. Your ship's orientation in space never changes, meaning that as you orbit your orientation in relation to the surface of Kearth changes.

That's not an orbit.
2965k metres up and still travelling at a speed of 1372m/s in my pod alone, weeeh Been going for 35 minutes so far and i'm still moving. *Edit* 4214k and travelling at 1178m/s don't think I'll be home in time for breakfast

To orbit you have to travel at a certain distance and speed parallel to kearth surface. meaning he was moving away from kearth, not orbiting it. Also like many people mentioned here he travels way too slow to orbit. To orbit at that speed he would have to be over 100km away from kearth, but we see it very close on the screenshot. Therefore it is not an orbit. Here is more info how to get into orbit of kearth: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorial:Orbiting You want a perfect(nearly) orbit? Here's is f-ing perfect(nearly) orbit:
Spaceship i used. Quite big compared to what i usually use for orbiting but the satellite module is uber heavy so i needed extra power. I used (in that order) 22 solid boosters, 3 LV-T30 liquid fuel engines with Fatboy fuel tank, 3 S.A.S modules, Ion thruster mk1 with FL-R25 fuel tank, Stellarcom communications satellite and O.P.A Modules. i was too concentrated to take screenshots of the launch (it was really hard to control that beast) so here are pictures of orbiting: Nearly perfect orbit using ion thruster for fine tuning (note that my speed is a bit too slow for perfect orbit but ill explain that later). Ejecting ion thruster. Now for satellite module, off you go! Separating actually gives a bit of momentum to the ejected part, that's why i was going too slow earlier. Now im going to level with it. Oh hai mr.Satellite. How is your day? Epic sunrise. We had alot of fun together but it was the time to say goodbye ;(. I'm going into lower orbit. Perfect orbit! although it was unnecessary because i was re-entering kearth in 2minutes. ZOMG! Its the space center! But whats this? I STARTED BREAKING TOO LATE! Oh shi-Oh shi-Oh shi- FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU Hmmmm i guess its not that bad after all. Kearth lander :). MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as i did.
http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorial:Orbiting#Orbital_Speed I dunno, I just eyeballed it. And as you can see on my screenshot... Successfully. Screw the science.
That was truly epic Qiler. Me being silly: Successful lift off... now if only it didn't overheat so quickly.

I just realized you can open your.craft files in notepad and change rotation and such. Time to make some really nonsensical rockets.
I just realized you can open your.craft files in notepad and change rotation and such. Well, I got in orbit and made two laps around the Kearth before landing safely a few kilometers from the launching pad. Mission: success.
I somehow managed to lose the small fuel tank.. can someone post it up for me?
