So if I start playing this what tree would be the most fun to go down first?
I think most people agree that Russian heavies is one of the better choices for newer players. No real bad tanks (except the T-28, depending on your opinion). However, it ultimately depends on how you think you'd like to play the game.
someone should make a tree guide for newbies because that question is asked here every day
That would be great... it would really suck to start with a terrible tree and waste a month of playing.
That would be great... it would really suck to start with a terrible tree and waste a month of playing.
Soviet heavy tree is a good start, most of the tanks in the line are decent, and they'll ease you into the game. The T-28 is a sniper-coffin, the KV is a fantastic low tier, even when stock. If I were you, I'd go down another tree, either TD or medium is my recommendation, Soviet TD tree is fun, but the end tier is fucking awful, American TD has some really fun TD's and the end tier is great, same for German.
Russian heavy tree is also a good starter tree because you can keep the KV as an excellent money maker. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] Haha WG has removed the preorder tanks from the gift shop again. I guess too many people cried about it.
German TDs are a good starter as well. The Jagdpanzer IV can be a pain, but everything else is decent-to-good. US TDs are also a good option, but the M10 and M36 might throw your playstyle off a bit, since you need to play them like normal TDs despite their turrets. I'd imagine German Porsche Heavies would be pretty good as well for newer players, as they would not get turned off by the Tiger, and the end tier is fantastic.

I find the overall Soviet TD tree fantastic through tiers 2-8. It starts out with the AT-1 which is okay for its tier, then branches out onto the nimble SU-76 and SU-85B - then gets less nimble but gains more firepower with the SU-85, SU-100 and SU-152, finally reaching the end point in terms of in-game guns with the ISU-152. Some people might hate the SU-85B, but I simply remember it as a Marder with a slightly more powerful gun and more mobility to duck behind cover when neccesary.
What? The AT-1 is amazing for its tier.
I don't remember playing it much. I remember it being rather slow and unarmored.

It got the alpha buff and also frontal spaced armor which causes 0dmg penetrations, plus it's mantlet now eats 250mm penetration shells like cupcakes. Seriously, I fear Tigers more than King Tigers in my E-75. Plus VK4502 P is the worst Tier 9.
nope.
yep.
nope.
It's a tier 6 IS
So if I start playing this what tree would be the most fun to go down first?
Russian Heavies American Mediums American Tank Destroyers American Heavies German Tank Destroyers I'd recommend avoiding: German Mediums Russian Mediums Russian TDs All artillery lines The rest are a mix of mediocre to good tanks that aren't as good as the former nor as bad as the latter.
someone should make a tree guide for newbies because that question is asked here every day
Think ill start on it, considering i've been through most of the tanks by now.
lol Rolling around in my AMX-12t, found a T-29, tracked it, shot 2 rounds into it's side lighting it on fire, pump remaining rounds into it's ass, killing it from 100%
Yeah, but who aims for the mantlet anyway?
A lot of T59s use autoaim because it's a noob tank. And at long range, shots rely on dicerolls instead of aiming a lot more than close range, causing most gun shells to deviate a fair deal and possibly hit the turret or miss completely. Especially if the Tiger is hull down. And it should only fight at long range in the first place
Oh shit, I forgot about the 3001P. Yeah, don't play that tank.
American tank destroyers are a really good start in my opinion. In the early tiers, you get a basic guide to TDing. Then you get more mobile tanks that make quite a lot of credits. And in the late, don't really have to worry about angling the front armour or anything because US TD front armour seems to be made out of dingtanium.
I don't remember playing it much. I remember it being rather slow and unarmored.
The 57mm also murders absolutely everything up to tier 4. Dunno how it fairs against French tanks though.

The T28/T95 take adjustments but AFAIK the T95 is considered the best T9 TD atm.

It's a great area denial weapon unlike the other 2 TDs which are only tanks without a turret.
I really recommend getting the SU-85 though, but research it with the T-34 to avoid the god awful su-76 and 85b The su-85 with the 107 is like a mini KV, you can hurt anything you're put up against
KV-107 is a god when fighting against low tiers + it's a good money maker. KV-152 is more for trolling higher tiers.
, but research it with the T-34 to avoid the god awful su-76
WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT
WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT
i hated it and it leads to the 85b which is the worst TD in the game mostly because it gets fucked in the ass by matchmaking. you get oneshotted by everything past tier 5
the 85b is not amazing but it's okay ish I skipped it pretty fast but the 76 is the best damn tier III td in the game, it's gun is better than the marder ii's
slow as fuck and turning speed is bad

I like the SU most it's incredible how similar the soviet and the german tier 5 and 6 TD are. the tier 5s are brilliant, the tier 6s suck/get raped by matchmaking
