Just danced a Maus to death in my E-50. Feels good, man.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Marder II, but this whole dead in one shot thing is rrreeaalllyy getting to me.

Tank destroyers aren't assault tanks, they're sniper tanks. Just sit behind the frontlines and pick off tanks that try to flank. If you're being one shotted by our asshole friend arty, thats just apart of the TD lifestyle.
No, its more like I'm realigning a shot on two turtling tanks and I get counter sniped by a tank a few tiers ahead of me. [editline]8th January 2012[/editline] "we didn't penetrate their armor!" Boom, one shot counter attack.

Boom, one shot counter attack.
One important lesson you need to learn is that sometimes (read "often"), there are situations in which you just aren't supposed to engage, even though your role of TD implies that you should. You need to get used to armor values of various enemies, and also about their guns. Usually, your position in the team, as in, relatively to other tier numbers, and of your targets, will give you a hint about who is how powerful. It's not exactly fun, but try to go to the tech trees and browse at least through the hull armor values. You will see who is reliable target and who isn't. Other than that, you just need to learn which targets you can afford to pick, by heart. If the target isn't ideal, simply LEG IT, and try to be useful somewhere else, hopefully finding a softer target.
What I don't understand is how, in my marder, I keep getting put up against hetzers, su-85's, and the occasional stugIII. [editline]8th January 2012[/editline] The hetzers I have no problems with, but if I even look at the others in a slightly silly manner I'm gone.
In tier 5 matches, you're generally supposed to hang behind and support teammates in a Marder - even as one of the best Tier 3 tanks, it's not supposed to hold its own against tier 5 tanks. At least you can do some serious damage to SU-85s and Stugs from long range with help from teammates. The same can't be said of a JgPzIV facing a Maus.
What I don't understand is how, in my marder, I keep getting put up against hetzers, su-85's, and the occasional stugIII.
thats just matchmaker, and it plagues this game. Low tier battles will be brutal if matchmaking is being a bitch some days.
soviet heavy tree is alright T-28 is a bit of a pain, but it's also fun KV is a trollKV KV-1S is fun, a medium tank with a heavy tank gun IS is fun, a medium tank with a heavy tank gun IS-3 is even more fun although it's terrible when stock
[editline]8th January 2012[/editline]
You cant call both glass cannons Autoloader frenchies have MASSIVE burst damage and the US heavies have pretty much balanced guns. The only US tank that is really a "glass cannon" is the T30
Pretty sure glass cannon means they have a big gun and nearly no armour.
[editline]8th January 2012[/editline] Pretty sure glass cannon means they have a big gun and nearly no armour.
Right, and the US heavies dont have "big" guns or no armor. (Other than the T30, which has a huge gun). All the autoloading frenchies would be glass cannons because they lack ANY armor and have extremely destructive guns.
Long 88 get, and then I accidentally a Tier 7 match. Played a little bit too aggressively at the end and got myself blown up, got to learn some restraint.
Do you gain more exp at higher tiers?
Do you gain more exp at higher tiers?
not really, you can kill more things and I suppose frequency of high xp gains per match increases but the amount rarely peeks 2k for a single un-doubled match at any tier.
Do you gain more exp at higher tiers?
Shooting things lower tier than you = Less xp Shooting things higher tier than you = More xp Thats roughly how it works.
Hahaha, just picked up Reaper on my marder.
Shooting things lower tier than you = Less xp Shooting things higher tier than you = More xp Thats roughly how it works.
Oh that's neat. So if I'm a lower level and I try and take on a big ass high level tank I get more exp, no matter how poorly I fare against it?
Oh that's neat. So if I'm a lower level and I try and take on a big ass high level tank I get more exp, no matter how poorly I fare against it?
as long as you penetrate and or do any sort of damage.
Cool. Last question. What are the point of the small light tanks? Just scouting? Can they still layeth the smacketh down on some tanks? And if I was interested in light tanks, which faction should I go for?

And if I was interested in light tanks, which faction should I go for?
the M5, T-50, T-50-2, 2801, chafee, and the french lite tree from 5 to Tier 7, are all good scouts. French tanks have the most firepower out of the bunch, because of their autoloaders. French tree is a gruesome grind though, beware. Also, if you hit "C" when you're using an autoloader, it reloads the whole magazine, so you don't have to shoot out the rest of your shells or switch to HE, then back to AP, or vice versa.
I'm getting around 50-100 exp per round in my SU-5 doing the Artillary grind. I'm used to gruesome grinds.
Quick question: Do tier 7 tanks like the IS, T-43 and KV-13 ever get in one of thoose limited time half price sales, or is it only tier 6 and below that ever gets on sale?
I've seen Tiger's go on sale before so I'd assume that other tier 7's can too.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a screenshot of it but I managed to get a top gun in the AMX 40 because of its somewhat magical armor.
Just a quick question, how many people use the mumble server since I only see like max 4-5 active people on it at a time.
Just a quick question, how many people use the mumble server since I only see like max 4-5 active people on it at a time.
Everyone uses the mumble. But only when you aren't on.
Do you gain more exp at higher tiers?
Not really. If you do good in a tier 2, you can get as much exp as doing good in a tier 7. The only thing that increases is the amount of credits you get, because shooting at higher tier tanks = more credits, whereas a tier 2 shooting a tier 2 will get the same exp as a tier 7 shooting a tier 7.
