Because you get exp from damage right? And at higher tiers the enemy team has more HP weight.
I don't think I've ever got over 1k exp at a really low tier.
My average exp does generally climb as I raise through the tiers, but that could be credited to not being shat on by the MM more and more.
2k in a BT-2, without the x2. With x2 it was 4k exp.
The only reason you can get more experience with higher tier tanks is because the guns tend to be able to do more damage to higher tiers.
Yep my highest in the Premium Hotchkiss is 2184 xp. I get above 1k xp with the MS1 quite often too.
The highest I've gotten was in my T2LT, 2,221xp

My highest is 1923 in the M10 Wolverine. The gap between tiers tends to get smaller as you go up. Where you have tanks being near invulnerable to each-other from tier to tier at the bottom, you have tanks that have a decent chance of punching above their weight as you go up.

Also remember that some people play with premium and some don't. That's included in the average and max experience stats.
I got 2750 with the Chaffee, if you want to set an XP record those tier5 light tanks are the way to go.
Playing Tiger. Only me, a sherman and an arty (both of which were camping at base) were left against 7 enemies. I went on the offensive alone and managed to kill 6 of them by myself while the sherman finished off the 7th (a 3601), which I had taken to 33 health. I had one kill from before so I ended up with 7. Results:

After 137 rounds i have an average XP of 955 with my T32. That's the highest average i have out of all my tanks. Don't know what it is with this tank, but i really love it.

Out of "normal" tanks, 886 for the E8
My average XP is pretty low - in the 200s but on my E8 has like 400 something with a max of 1369 (what a coincidence) again that was without counting doubles though
My best average is 969 in my E75, with a max of 2611.
Such a good tank for exp and credits considering its a t9. The 128 is cheaper to run than the KT's long 105.
